    Systems Auditor Grade 11

    This is a middle-level position in the University, and appointment to this position is either on permanent and pensionable terms; or on a two (2) year renewable performance- based contract depending on age, citizenship and any other reason.

    Academic Qualifications

    1. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in either ICT or Commerce from a recognizedUniversity;

    In addition, candidates must:

    1. Have Knowledge of ERP (Enterprises Resource Planning)
    2. Be a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
    3. Be registered with the relevant professional body (e.g. ISACA)

    Experience

    1. The candidate must have a minimum of six (6) years continuous working experience in finance and /or Audit, three of which should have worked as an Auditor (Grade F/10) or equivalent position in a large or busy organization, with proven integrity, honesty, independence, innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.
    2. Candidates should have experience in carrying out the following duties and responsibilities:
    3. Reviewing of audit schedules
    4. Reviewing of specific audit work plan
    5. Preparing of annual enterprise risk register
    6. Assisting in reviewing and appraising the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems
    7. In addition, candidates should show active involvement in International/Continental/Regional/National/ Local/Community activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Officer will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

    1. Preparing and/or reviewing audit assignment programmes in accordance with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
    2. Performing special projects and reviews including investigations, as and when assigned.
    3. Reviewing internal controls covering all the key operational areas in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    4. Continuously assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of operational processes and practices to ensure efficient and effective utilization and accountability of resources.
    5. Performing Risk Assessment tailored to each area under review necessary for identification, analysis and evaluation of areas of significant weakness constituting risks to the Organization.
    6. Preparing audit files and reviewing work done to ensure it meets the set quality and the relevant International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
    7. Preparing and presenting to the Head of Internal Audit written reports detailing
    8. identified key control points and weaknesses in the system or function being audited and provide innovative and creative recommendations for correcting unsatisfactory conditions and improving operations.
    9. Ensuring audit recommendations are implemented through regular follow-ups with auditees.
    10. Reviewing work performance of internal audit assistants.
    11. Contributing to the preparation of the risk-based annual audit plans, under the coordination of the Head of Internal Audit, and ensures comprehensive and quality audit programmes are prepared.
    12. Preparing clear and concise draft reports and presents audit results and recommendations,orally and in writing to the Head of Internal Audit.
    13. Performing information system audits to identify areas of weakness and providerecommendations.
    14. Performing any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    Laboratory Technician Grade C

    This is an entry position in technical services in the University, and appointment is either on permanent and pensionable terms or on a two (2) year renewable performance-based contract depending on age, citizenship or any other reason.

    Academic Qualification

    1. Applicants MUST be holders of either a Degree in Public Health/Environmental Health/Community Health or
    2. equivalent qualification from an accredited and recognized institution.
    3. Professional Requirements
    4. Applicants must be members of the Public Health Officer and Technicians Council.

    Experience

    1. Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years practical and relevant working experience with proven integrity, independence, innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.
    2. In addition the candidate should: Show Active involvement in International/Continental/Regional /National/ Local/Community activities.

    Skills

    1. The candidate should have the following skills
    2. Strong technical ability in Public Health
    3. Good communication skills
    4. Proficiency in computer applications

    Responsibilities will include but not be limited to

    1. Assist in the maintenance of an up to date inventory of consumables and non-consumables inpublic health
    2. Assist in planning and Budget preparation for teaching materials
    3. Arrange the laboratory apparatus and models in an orderly manner for smooth processes during practical sessions.
    4. Assist in invigilation of practical examination sessions to enhance integrity and quality in the examination process
    5. Provide support for practical learning by facilitating, conducting and demonstrating in practical sessions to ensure efficient delivery of the content.
    6. Organize for field trips for Public Health Students to be oriented in Food Industries, water treatment, slaughterhouses, meat inspection, port visits and other related activities and processes.
    7. Provide a conducive and safe learning environment in the laboratory to ensure conformity with the stipulated occupational, health and safety standards and Good Laboratory Practice.
    8. Collect experimental specimens and samples using stipulated standard operating procedures to be used for practical demonstration.
    9. Support the Departmental innovations, research and income generating activities
    10. Perform any duties as may be assigned by the head of the department.

    Lecturer in Environmental Planning and Management Grade 12

    Appointment to this position is either on permanent and pensionable terms or on a three (3) year renewable performance-based contract, depending on age, citizenship, or any other reason.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must:

    1. have an earned PhD in either of the following areas of specialization: Urban and Regional Planning,
    2. Spatial Planning and Management, Town Planning, Land use Planning and Management, Urban
    3. Planning or Infrastructure /utilities planning and Management or equivalent from an accredited and
    4. recognized university.

    Experience

    1. Applicants with at least three (3) years relevant experience will have an added advantage.
    2. Applicants should have evidence of contribution to university/research institution through activities such as participation in departmental management, students’ academic/research advising, school or university/institutional meetings, committee membership and related matters
    3. In addition, applicants should
    4. Be registered with the relevant professional body
    5. Demonstrate community involvement (e.g. Member of BOG, SMC etc.)

    4. Maintain appropriate contact hours with students for effective learning by abiding to the scheduled timelines.
    5. Prepare teaching and instructional materials for students to maintain standards and uniformity and ensure effective delivery of the teaching process.
    6. Set, moderate, administer, mark, compile, report, and process exams to meet University
    7. academic standards to evaluate acquisition of knowledge and ensure quality.
    8. Establish linkages for students exchange programs and attachment for purposes of training and capacity building
    9. Participate in attachment, placements, field trips and teaching practice to equip students withon the job skills.
    10. Monitor students’ performance, progress, produce timely feedback, and seek ways to improve performance and content retention.
    11. Provide career guidance, Academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate and postgraduate students during consultation hours to produce all round and well-grounded individuals.
    12. Ensure quality standards are maintained by ensuring students abide to policies and regulations in class attendance and examination discipline.
    13. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities
    14. Identifying research needs in the society in order to inform potential areas of research and contribute to the body of knowledge.
    15. Develop and write proposals to inform and justify the need for research and source for funds
    16. in accordance to donor regulations and ethical standards.
    17. Conduct research by implementing objectives through use of relevant methods to increase in the body of knowledge.
    18. Disseminate and share research findings to inform and influence policy and provide solutions to societal needs.
    19. Aid the University in meeting its mandate while contributing to individual development and standing of the University in research matters.
    20. Identify and initiate external linkages with local and international bodies for purposes of collaboration, research and funding.
    21. Engage stake holders for purposes of curricula development, sharing experience and knowledge.
    22. Undertake sensitization programs to create awareness on issues affecting local communities.
    23. Participating in preparation of Department and Faculty strategic plans and other departmental activities.

    Community Service and Outreach Responsibilities

    1. Identify and initiate external linkages with local and international bodies for purposes of collaboration, research and funding.
    2. Engage stake holders for purposes of curricula development, sharing experience and knowledge.
    3. Undertake sensitization programs to create awareness on issues affecting local communities.
    4. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Head of
    5. Department, Dean of Faculty or other Officer of the University in accordance with the
    6. University Statutes.
