    Project Manager (Digital Programming)

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    The role of Project Manager sits within the Digital Programming team at Save the Children International, which is responsible for leading the digital transformation of our work with children. This forms a central pillar of our strategy to deliver a greater impact to far more children in the 120 countries in which we work. The Digital Programming team is putting in place the processes, platforms, tools and resources that enable Save the Children staff to design, deliver and scale safe, high quality digital programmes.

    The Project Manager is responsible for implementing a suite of tools that local teams will depend on for the effective delivery of a wide range of digital programmes across different thematic areas (including health, education and child protection). The initial focus will be on delivering messaging platforms that can support a number of use cases like bite-sized learning, social behaviour change communications and feedback.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential

    • Extensive track record of successfully managing a programme or project in software development and implementation.
    • Proven experience of using and leading change management activities including change impact assessment, stakeholder management, managing resistance, building change capacity, designing and defining roles and responsibilities.
    • Proficient demonstrable skills in managing and reporting complex projects within a Portfolio Office/PMO structure
    • Proven ability to deliver projects on time / on budget, using project management processes and tools including risk management, benefits management, financial management and quality assurance
    • Comprehensive management and influencing skills with experience of working with senior level executives
    • Ability to resolve issues swiftly and decisively whilst safeguarding standards and procedures
    • Strong team leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and mobilise individuals outside their reporting line
    • Excellent communication skills (written & oral English), including the ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organisation
    • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally

    Desirable:

    • Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic)

    Global Director Education/Learn

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    Save the Children is seeking a transformational development / humanitarian executive to lead our Education/Learn work globally. Taking advantage of Save the Children's vast network of program experts and global footprint, this global leader will use innovation, technology, data, and research to ensure that Save the Children stands as a state of the art institution working with children and their communities efficiently and effectively. This position will provide an unparalleled opportunity to implement the cutting-edge of development, humanitarian and human rights theory and practice across a network of 100+ countries and 25,000 staff. This includes helping Save the Children become effectively localized, data-driven, productively partnered, a powerful advocate, and to stand as one of the world's most recognized voices in the defence of the rights of every child everywhere.

    This is the most senior Education Thematic Director in Save the Children. This role has overall accountability for the quality and impact of Education work across our child rights programming framework (service delivery, systems/policy/advocacy, and civil society and children’s engagement to hold duty bearers accountable) across Save the Children, promoting programme innovation and drawing on and contributing to the best global evidence on what works to guarantee children’s rights, and particularly their right to education.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • Existing Global Leadership experience in Education/Learning Sector
    • Extensive global education technical experience with relevant advanced degree/s (e.g. MD, MPH, DrPH)
    • Technical familiarity with Education competencies and programming, with expertise in at least one area
    • Demonstrated experience working with multinational partners, governments and academic institutions
    • Inspirational leader with ability to communicate the vision for the LEARN Breakthrough

    Senior Education Officer - Baringo

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    Education Coordinator will be responsible for programme delivery in Baringo County; He/She will represent SCI in county and sub-county education forums. The Coordinator will liaise closely with Ministry of Education at county level to ensure the programme is implemented in coordination with relevant education actors. The Coordinator will provide leadership and overall fund management at county level with close collaboration with the education project implementation team. 

    Contract Duration: 10 Months

    Reports to: Education Manager

    Staff reporting to this post: 2 (Education Officer and driver)

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Coordination and representation

    • Build a working relationship at the county level with the committee that will provide technical oversight of the project from the Ministry of Education and UNICEF working closely with Save the Children Education Advisor.
    • Represent Save the Children at county level forums.
    • Ensure close collaboration with partners designated to implement other components of the project.

    Programme technical delivery.

    • Provide child protection to OOSC who have been enrolled to school. These services include psychosocial support, rescue and alternative family care for enrolled children in need of care & protection liaising with the county directorate of children services.
    • Work closely with the County Coordinators of Education & Protection and Sub County Education/Children Officers as s/he implement the project activities. This will require building and sustain effective close working partnerships with sub county government counterparts through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate programme
    • Build capacity of stakeholders to achieve and sustain results of the OOSC education project in the county

    Programme, Partnership and award management

    • Provide overall leadership, and oversee the implementation of the project in Baringo.
    • Develop and maintain detailed implementation plan and annual and quarterly work plans for the project.
    • Ensure the timely and efficient implementation of the Unicef education project as described in the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
    • In Collaboration with the field based staff, prepare annual and quarterly work plans and ensure that program activities are implemented as planned and within the approved budget.
    • Participate in proposal development processes, in particular liaising with relevant Technical Specialists and programme staff to ensure that advocacy approaches are integrated within and contribute to the achievement of project results and objectives and that sufficient fund are budgeted for implementation.
    • Monitor monthly expenditure and track project budgets to ensure that spending on the program is in line with the approved budgets.
    • Accountable for reporting 

    Operations

    • Foster good working relationship with Baringo County Government through MoU, joint planning, field visits and reporting.
    • Act as safety and security focal person for Baringo County.
    • Conduct risk analysis, mapping, and share with operations director.
    • Contribute to programme development in Baringo County In Line With Save the Children CSP.
    • Contribute to development of EPP and share humanitarian needs for children in Baringo County.
    • Participate in the recruitment of the project staff.
    • Identify learning and training needs of Save the Children staff and partners, deliver/facilitate/coordinate with country office Education Technical Advisor for regular and specific capacity development programs for targeted staff/partners.

    • Experience in the design, implementation and reporting on education.

    Consultancy Services for Endline Evaluation for Ken-Pneumonia Centenary Commitment Project

    The overall objective of the endline evaluation

    The purpose of the evaluation is to assess both the processes and the outcomes of interventions and collect evidence and lessons learnt in Nairobi, Wajir and Mandera counties. The findings emerging from the end line evaluation will:

    • Generate information on the level of achievement of the intervention objectives, outcome and evidence of emerging impact, information which will be useful to stakeholders, including the county Governments
    • Inform and guide the design and implementation of future Save the Children projects

    The specific objectives are:

    Specifically, the evaluation seeks to address the following issue and provide specific, actionable and practical recommendations for future programming based on the findings.

    • Measure the level of achievement of the immunization project and the changes in coverage and quality of immunization services in the programme implementation areas.
    • Changes in social acceptance, care-seeking and health-promoting behaviors for immunization services by families and communities in the project sites.
    • Document the lessons learned during programme implementation and assess how much the programme brought change in the capacity of the Ministry of Health and National Vaccines and Immunization Program division to steward the vaccines and immunization program

    Study Design and Methodology

    • The consultant will develop the methodology that should be able to clearly answer each of the specific objectives and should specify mechanisms to avoid bias. The consultant and his/her team are expected to propose methodology and best sampling design to conduct the evaluation.
    • The consultant will propose an appropriate mix of qualitative, quantitative methodologies, tools, work plan and budget for the end-line survey

    Consultant’s qualifications and experience

    The consultant(s) will be expected to be have experience in conducting endlines, evaluations and/or implementing Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) programmes in addition to working in urban informal settlements and ASALs regions of Kenya. The consultant(s) will have the primary responsibility for conducting the endline evaluation and writing of the endline evaluation report. The consultant will be expected to lead and coordinate the data collection, entry and analysis of data and report writing.

    Specifically, the (Lead) Consultant should possess the following qualifications:

    • Relevant Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Applied Nutrition, Biostatistics, Monitoring and Evaluation Systems or any Health Science or Social Science disciplines. PhD will be added advantage.
    • Previous experience in the area of maternal, new-born and child health and public health.
    • Sound knowledge and experience working with the county governments and familiarity with their health systems.
    • Have a proven gender sensitivity and capabilities to handle child safeguarding during the study
    • Demonstrated knowledge of project evaluations and possess strong research skills.
    • Experience in the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of MNCH projects.
    • A demonstrated high level of professionalism and ability to work within tight deadlines.

    Head of Digital Solutions

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    The Head of Digital Solutions sits within the Digital Programming team at Save the Children International, which is responsible for leading the digital transformation of our work with children. This forms a central pillar of our strategy to deliver a greater impact to far more children in the 120 countries in which we work. The Digital Programming team is putting in place the processes, platforms, tools and resources that enable Save the Children staff to design, deliver and scale safe, high quality digital programmes.

    The Head of Digital Solutions is responsible for identifying 3rd party solutions to specific strategic challenges and ensuring that we partner effectively to bring these to scale. An example might be introducing a clinical decision support tool for frontline healthcare workers. With responsibility for defining our roadmap and ensuring the successful introduction, adoption and usage of these solutions, this role will play a central, highly visible role in achieving our ambitious goals for 2030.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • Extensive product leadership experience across the full product lifecycle
    • Experience of implementing digital solutions in a range of humanitarian and/or development settings
