    Legal Assistant

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In this role, you will provide general legal and strategic support to the in-house legal team. You will be responsible for executing objectives, strategies and action plans of the in-house legal team.

    Specific responsibilities

    • Scanning and saving all transaction documents, contracts, pleadings and correspondences on Egnyte;
    • Record keeping and creation and maintenance of files and databases on Egnyte;
    • Monitoring documentation on each transaction to ensure completion and accuracy;
    • Ensuring each transaction is closed within the agreed timelines;
    • Constant follow up and correspondence with external legal counsels on legal matters;
    • Work with external counsels and provide the information/documentation required to the external counsels;
    • Drafting of the legal documents and other legal work as may be required;
    • Co-ordinating with external consultants and legal counsels on land use planning and titling of the various real estate products within the Group;
    • Initiating and monitoring payment of invoices to external legal counsels on the procurement management system;
    • Reviewing critical dates and evaluating documentation terms;
    • Contract administration and management;
    • Drafting of generic correspondence;
    • In consultation with the legal department, preparation of contracts as may be required from time to time;
    • Follow up on deadlines, commitments made, actions taken and coordination and communication to the team at Tatu City regarding all tasks assigned to the legal team;
    • Consistently complete tasks in accordance with agreed deadlines and to the highest quality standard, meeting or exceeding expectations of internal and external stakeholders;
    • Embrace accountability, humility and commitment to Rendeavour’s business goals; and
    • Support the in-house legal team in additional support tasks.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Hard skills and experience:

    • A minimum of two years experience working as a paralegal working in a busy law firm.
    • Strong ICT skills.
    • Well-versed with Microsoft Office and document management systems.
    • University Degree or Diploma relevant to the position.

    Legal Counsel

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In this role, you will provide general legal advice and strategic counsel within a broad scope of areas within the organization. The primary focus of this position will be infrastructure and construction law which will include advising on, drafting and negotiating infrastructure and construction contracts. Your responsibilities will however not be limited to infrastructure and construction contracts.

    Specific responsibilities

    • Drafting, negotiating and advising on legal agreements across the Rendeavour Group’s businesses in relation to construction and infrastructure development;
    • Transitioning deals from sales and registration of leases to the delivery and utility teams for compliance with infrastructure and utility provision requirements;
    • Review, optimization and synchronization of all legal agreements used across the Group;
    • Consistently complete tasks in accordance with agreed deadlines and to the highest quality standard, meeting or exceeding expectations of internal and external stakeholders;
    • Creation of a library of legal templates for use across the Rendeavour Group and scanning and saving all transaction documents, as well as key correspondence in respect of completed transactions on the document management system;
    • Review and rationalization of the use of external legal advice across the Rendeavour Group’s East African businesses;
    • Embrace accountability, humility and commitment to Rendeavour’s business goals;
    • Support the in-house legal team in additional advisory and support tasks;
    • Drafting, reviewing and optimising internal guidelines and policies;
    • Advise on legal and risk issues affecting the Rendeavour Group’s business;
    • Conduct and commission research and analysis of specific legal questions and preparation of information memoranda, opinions and position papers;
    • Managing external legal counsel offering legal services to the Rendeavour Group and compiling reports on matters handled by the external legal counsel;
    • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas; and
    • Monitoring Kenyan legislation as well as advising the Rendeavour Group of companies on the impact of existing and newly enacted legislation on the Rendeavour Group’s businesses.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Hard skills and experience:

    • Over 4 years’ post qualification experience in infrastructure and construction law and as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
    • Strong technical ability in: infrastructure and construction law and real estate/property law.
    • Track record of working on complex infrastructure and construction contracts.
    • Compliant and in possession of the current practising certificate.
    • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills.
    • Previous exposure to emerging or frontier markets.

    Corporate Social Responsibility Manager

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The CSR Manager will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing initiatives in line with Tatu City’s pillars of corporate social responsibility: Conservation, Community, Health and Education.

    Specific responsibilities: 

    • Developing, executing and evaluating CSR programs, providing assessments of outcomes and effectiveness.
    • Acting as the focal point for the Company’s CSR initiatives with the community, partners and key stakeholders.
    • Staying abreast of relevant research and trends in the areas of focus and promoting best practices.
    • Seeking out, understanding and incorporating feedback from the communities we serve.
    • Managing and monitoring the annual budget and multi-year budgeting strategies for company CSR.
    • Engage businesses in Tatu City to make substantial contributions to community programs.
    • Work with marketing and PR teams to drive internal engagement and promote storytelling.
    • Promote employee volunteering initiatives.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Skills and experience:

    • BSC in Environmental Sustainability or Bachelor of Arts in Social sciences from a recognized university.
    • Master of Science in Environmental Governance is an added advantage
    • At least five years’ prior experience in a similar role.
    • Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing Charities, IPCs (Institutions of Public Character), and best practices for CSR will be an advantage.
    • You have strong expertise in managing relationships, networks, and teams that include a diverse group of people representative of the public and private sectors, community-based organizations, nonprofits, and civic leaders as well as program beneficiaries.
    • Proven effectiveness in driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes and cross-team projects to desired results.

    Soft skills:

    • Mature, pragmatic and flexible approach, strong commercial judgment.
    • Team player but comfortable working autonomously.
