    Program Officer-Qualitative Research And Quality Control

    Overview:

    For this project, we are seeking a dedicated Program Officer who has experience in conducting

    Qualitative research (focused group discussions and key informant interviews) and quality assurance for research projects. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, he/she will work with the Principal Investigator/National FP expert and the National Monitoring and Evaluation Expert to lead qualitative research efforts as part of third-party monitoring for a national FP program. This will include:

    • Overseeing data collection through focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, direct observation etc.
    • Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead to disseminate findings from the qualitative research work
    • Participate in the dissemination of results through internal and external reports, journal publications, and professional conference presentations.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:

    • At least a Bachelor’s degree in – medical anthropology, medical sociology, public
    • Health or a related field emphasizing qualitative research methods training.
    • Verifiable experience in performing qualitative data analysis using nVIVO, Dedoose or any other related qualitative analysis software
    • Skills or required:
    • 2+ years experience in research involving human subjects
    • 2+ years conducting in-depth interviewing, focus group discussions, and participant observation.
    • Experience supervising field data collectors
    • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
    • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills are required.

    Qualifications Preferred:

    • Any of the following additional experience is preferred.
    • Previous experience working with health care providers and patients.
    • Research plan development and execution
    • Coordination of multi-country studies and interventions

    The candidate must be able to:

    • Assist with report creation, including writing, analysis, and chart and table creation in Excel or PowerPoint.
    • Detailed note-taking during client calls and meetings.
    • Able to effectively problem solve logistical issues and adjust on the fly. Proactively identify issues and suggest solutions on how to make projects run more smoothly.

    The International Centre for Reproductive Health – Kenya (ICRHK) is a local non-profit organization that works in the area of sexual and reproductive health research and intervention programs. Our projects are in the thematic areas of HIV/AIDS, Family planning, RHMNCH and sexual and gender based violence. Our staff include experts in public health, clinical services, research, project management and data.

     Requirements:

    • Diploma in Sociology or a health related subject and above
    • 1 year minimum experience
    • Experience in working for an NGO is an added advantage
    • Experience working as a Research Assistant is an added advantage
    • GCP/Human Subjects certification is an added advantage
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Team player

    Key Personal Attributes:

    • Good organization and administrative skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel & Outlook a must
    • Good interpersonal skills; works well with a range of different individuals
    • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
    • Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
    • Ability to take the initiative and be proactive, tactful and able to work with minimum supervision
