    Human Resource Manager

    Job Reference No. REF: IG-HRM 002/2023

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of IG SACCO’s HR policies and procedures and maintaining a highly productive human resource to ensure successful realization of the Sacco’s strategic objectives. The Manager will report to the Chief Executive Officer,

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Developing and implementing HR policies and practices that are compliant with the relevant Labour Laws;
    • Coordinating Human Resource planning, budgeting and monitoring in liaison with the Finance Manager;
    • Ensuring safe custody and updates of various staff files & HR related records;
    • Reviewing job specifications/descriptions;
    • Conducting job analysis and job evaluation;
    • Ensuring that staff disciplinary matters are properly handled;
    • Leading in recruitment process, manpower planning, training and development plan, career management, talent management, employee benefits/rewards.
    • Ensuring that staff leaves, sick off and off duty are processed in good time;
    • Reviewing HR practices with the primary goal of improving the work environment;
    • Drive performance management systems and ensure effective implementation;
    • Ensuring that monitoring and reporting of staff attendance records is done promptly;
    • Providing HR Support and advise to employees, line managers and senior management on HR Policies and Procedures;
    • Overseeing functions that relate to HR and staff welfare programmes;
    • Ensuring that administration of the medical cover for all staff is done;
    • Developing and implementing staff health and safety guidelines in accordance with the
    • Occupational Safety and Health Act.
    • Preparing and presentation of HR related reports.
    • Performing any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or related discipline and Diploma in Human Resource Management.
    • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage.
    • Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM-K) in good standing.
    • Five (5) years of relevant working experience preferably two (2) of which should be at senior management.
    • Proficient in MS Office applications and working knowledge of HRM software

    DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills.
    • Team player with excellent leadership, negotiation and decision making skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of the relevant labour laws and the ability to implement change.

    Deputy Chief Executive Officer

    Job Reference No. REF: IG-DCE 001/2023

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be in charge of the day to day operations of the Sacco and provide strategic leadership across all functions of the Sacco. 

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Developing and implementing HR policies and practices that are compliant with the relevant Labour Laws;
    • Developing and implementing Sacco structures, operating systems, processes, and procedures aimed at ensuring effective and efficient resource management, service delivery and good governance of the Sacco;
    • Supporting the overall performance of the Sacco through effective and efficient planning, coordination, administration, monitoring and evaluation of its core activities, financial records and management, investment strategies, budgetary allocation and provision of periodic reports to the CEO;
    • Leading in the strategic data analysis and research to aid in decision making;
    • Evaluating business strategies and activities on a continuous basis to ensure maximum impact in a proactive manner by identifying appropriate alternatives;
    • To ensure consistent compliance with all statutory, legal and regulatory requirements of the Sacco i.e. Cooperative Societies Act, Sacco Societies Act, Rules and Regulations and advise the CEO; 
    • Coordinating and aligning departmental objectives to the overall organizational strategies;
    • Developing a risk compliance and governance framework across the Sacco;
    • Networking strategically within and outside the sector with the aim of influencing national policy and programs that impact various stakeholders and partners of the Society;
    • Supporting the CEO in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the diverse range of internal and external stakeholders; and
    • Performing any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent from a recognized university. 
    • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage;
    • Must be Certified Public Accountant Kenya (CPAK) and a member of a relevant professional body i.e. Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK); Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM); Kenya Society of Professional Co-operators (KSPC);
    • Ten (10) years relevant working experience in a Financial institution with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior management position.

    Accountants

    Job Reference No. REF: IG-ACN 003/2023

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Ensuring monthly reconciliation is done for the account holders, salary earners, dormant accounts, overdrawn accounts, closed accounts and review the same;
    • Ensuring updated reconciliation of Mpesa, Paybill, PesaPepe, Bankers cheques, loans and advances, salaries and payouts is updated on time;
    • Processing payroll and ensure all statutory deduction are remitted to the relevant authorities;
    • Ensuring that internal customer fund transfers and journals are effected on a daily basis upon authorization;
    • Ensuring that cashbook and general ledgers are updated on daily basis;
    • Monitoring control accounts;
    • Ensuring proper procedure and processing of member withdrawal is followed;
    • Preparing death claims and timely forwarding to the Insurance Company for claiming and making reports thereafter;
    • Updating list of standing orders, direct debits and any other forms of remittances outside the checkoff system;
    • Verifying all the accounting documents;
    • Ensuring that rent from the IG tenants is promptly received and receipted accordingly; and
    • Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce; Business Management (Accounts Option); Finance from a recognized institution.
    • CPA (K) is a requirement.
    • Must be a member of a professional body (ICPAK) and in a good standing.
    • Diploma in Cooperative Management will be an added advantage.
    • At least three (3) years of experience in a reputable financial institution.
    • Knowledge in computerized accounting is a requirement
    • Compliance with chapter 6 of the constitution is a requirement.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Attention to details.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Good in financial report writing and interpretation skills.
    • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Conversant with SACCO Act, cooperative SASRA requirements and IFRS.

    Microcredit Officer

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Developing and implementing credit Policies, Procedures and Strategies;
    • Designing an institutional development plan that will result in an efficient micro credit program;
    • Recruiting and training selected groups about available products and services;
    • Facilitating disbursement of loans to identified groups based on the analysis of their applications in a time efficient manner and prepare payment plans;
    • Receiving potential clients and conduct an initial assessment and assist clients in completing applications;
    • Identifying and implementing partners, their capacity building and training needs as they correlate with microfinance;
    • Monitoring groups operations and purpose to attend weekly/monthly group meetings to keep abreast and follow up of all the activities;
    • Promote business growth by selling IG Sacco products and services to current and potential customers to ensure profitability;
    • Maintaining a quality loan book by ensuring timely repayment of Sacco products;
    • Monitoring the progress and performance of the existing loans;
    • Following up with clients about loan renewals;
    • Assessing creditworthiness and the risks involved;
    • Calculating accurate financial ratios i.e credit scores and interest rates;
    • Preparing and submitting timely and reliable credit reports to assist in decision making and evaluation; and
    • Performing any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time. 

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS.

    • Diploma in Credit Management.
    • CPA Part II
    • Other related professional qualifications will be an added advantage. 
    • Previous experience of working with an ERP system preferred.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Minimum two 2 years’ relevant experience in the financial institution
