    GBV Caseworker

    Job Description

    The WPE/GBV case worker will offer GBV screening services, holistic case management to survivors while ensuring improved quality of health and psychosocial support, support in development of a functional referral networks that enhance survivors’ ability to receive confidential, safe, and timely services that meets their needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide direct support and care for survivors of GBV and age-appropriate specialized support and care for adolescents, male and child survivors of GBV, including counseling and case management.
    • Ensure proper documentation of reported GBV incidences through utilization of GBVIMS tools.
    • Ensure safety of survivors is guaranteed by adhering to GBV guiding principles and use of survivor centered approach.
    • Support in developing and strengthening referral networks and monitoring the referral pathway to improve survivors’ access to GBV.
    • In consultations with women and girls, develop and support to implement a series of age-appropriate and group emotional and social support activities for women and girls, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of survivors of GBV and strengthening support networks among women and girls.
    • In consultations with GBV officer, develop and implement/ share monthly response plan and GBV key issues based on case trends to disseminate information on services available and referral pathways.
    • Make routine follow up of GBV cases referred to ascertain their wellbeing and services received.
    • Prepare and submit weekly & monthly reports as required and incorporate supervisors’ feedback in a timely manner.
    • Participate in awareness creation and prevention activities on GBV
    • Participate in the development of procurement and spending plans and work plans to ensure the successful implementation of programs
    • Ensure supplies/resources are requested on a timely manner for timely implementation of program activities including manage/prepare contingency program stock supplies where necessary.
    • Monitor and track utilization of program supplies and resources to ensure efficient use of available resources.
    • Ensure tracking of key program indicators and progress through utilization of GBVIMS, M&E data collection and indicator tracking tools.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in Social Work / Social Sciences / Counseling / psychology / health or other related field preferred. Degree in similar fields would be an added advantage
    • At least 3 years’ experience in the direct provision of counseling and psychosocial support to survivors of GBV, including child survivors
    • Clear understanding, including demonstrated positive attitudes on gender inequality, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls STRONGLY preferred.
    • Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with survivors of all ages, background and diversity
    • Ability to lead, train, supervise, and motivate other GBV staff and local partners in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
    • Has a positive and professional attitude ability to work with minimal supervision and in a hardship area.
    • Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours when necessary.
    • Knowledge of English and Kiswahili is a must (knowledge of Ng’aturkana will be an added advantage)
    • Clear understanding of GBVIMS will be an added advantage

    Laboratory Technologist

    Job Description

    The Laboratory Technologist will actively contribute in the improvement of quality of care by ensuring quality laboratory services are delivered to the beneficiaries. He/she will be supervising all laboratory assistants and will capacity build them through laboratory assistants training and on bench trainings. He/She will be answerable to Senior Laboratory Technologist.

    Program Management

    • Perform Laboratory investigations as per clinician’s request and ensure accurate, reliable and timely results.
    • Maintain order and smooth flow of patients.
    • Supervise the Kenyan and refugee incentive staff.
    • Participate in in-service training and regular on bench refresher courses for Kenyan and refugee staff.
    • Ensure that all relevant records are updated and maintained.
    • Monitor and supervise proper usage of laboratory reagents.
    • Maintain Laboratory machines in good order- cleaning and covering after use.
    • Ensure general laboratory cleanliness is maintained.
    • Report any unusual statistics or observations to the laboratory in-charge.
    • Ensure SOP’S are used at all times.
    • Ensuring safety procedures in the laboratory are maintained.
    • Preparing of stains, reagents and solutions necessary for all lab tests.
    • Participate in the department planning and forecasting of laboratory supplies.

    Human Resource

    • Supervise laboratory incentive staff in collaboration with the senior lab technologist to ensure work is done properly.
    • Countercheck all work done by incentive staff.
    • In collaboration with the field HR, ensure adherence to HR policies to all incentive staff

    Program Activities

    • Ensure laboratory tests are performed accurately and timely
    • Ensure revised SOP’s are used in all testing procedures.
    • Ensure proper collection, packaging and transportation of laboratory samples to Nairobi hospital and/or other outsourced centre.
    • Supervise the storage of laboratory reagents and cold chain system to avoid compromised reagents that may lead to false reporting.

    Reporting and Coordination

    • Ensure all laboratory reports are done on time and sent to HIS, CSM and other offices as may be indicated.
    • Notify your supervisor and CSM on all investigations above the positive threshold.
    • Report any laboratory incidents to the senior lab technologist.

    Others

    • Carry out any other duty assigned by your supervisor.

    Key Result Areas

    • Quality of lab services- reliable and timely.
    • Cleaning and orderliness of the work place
    • FIFO and FEFO application in stock management
    • Training of lab assistants course and other CME
    • Timely reporting.

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in medical laboratory sciences.
    • MUST be registered by KMLTTB.

    • 2 years experience in clinical laboratories.
    • Experience working with non profitable organization
    • Flexibility at work.
    • Cultural sensitivity.
    • Team player
