    Production Tech Intern

    Key Qualifications

    • Ongoing Study in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or some level of electronics manufacturing or IT engineering.
    • Desire to learn and practice assembling, diagnosing, fixing, and repairing electronic devices.
    • Basic knowledge with computer languages and function.
    • Exposure to soldering best practices and procedures.
    • Ability to follow step by step instructions.
    • Familiarity with the necessity of quality standards and measures associated with small scale electronics manufacturing.

    Description

    This role will perform the function of a Production Team Intern in KILN, the manufacturing division of BRCK. It will be using internal tools and automated systems.

    The candidate must be able to work closely with other interns and technicians and the supervisor on specific tasks related to the assembly of all BRCK products. The environment is fast paced, and the projects evolve quickly.

    • The candidate must be detail oriented, agile, and self-motivated.
    • An ideal candidate will have some experience in manufacturing or repair of electronics.
    • Be willing to start immediately, work hard and adapt quickly.
    • Work as part of a team to help increase efficiency, productivity, quality and outputs from the KILN.
    • Possess strong organizational skills and enjoy what we do.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform assembly to quality standards as defined by the department.
    • Take direction on assignments and then work autonomously or with appropriate team(s) to accomplish assignment objectives.
    • Proactively learn various aspects and responsibilities of their jobs.
    • Learn to work safely and efficiently, while maintaining accuracy.
    • Possible installations on Matatus in the evening hours.i
    • Any other duties and responsibilities needed to keep the department moving forward.

    BRCK Labs Software Developer

    As the BRCK Labs Software Developer, you will be working alongside an existing team of senior and intermediate hardware and mechanical developers. Projects will range from small, distinct pieces of work to long term program engagements. You will be expected to quickly familiarize yourself with the existing frameworks and platforms.

    From there you will be in a position to improve them and rebuild them as necessary. These platforms will help achieve BRCK Labs goal of developing the next big thing for BRCK. Your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Development of new software and web applications including for IOT databases and dashboards as well as novel networking applications.
    • Modify and enhance existing software and web applications for BRCK Labs projects within expected time, quality and completion metrics.
    • Active participation in scoping, design, and pricing exercises as part of the development team.
    • Testing of software and ensuring that completed work correctly meets requirements, and is in accordance with agreed designs.
    • Work in conjunction with other developers on development projects and ensure that your work is compatible with, and does not duplicate the work of others.
    • Diagnose and repair software problems or bugs, and assist clients with technical problems and help to resolve those problems.
    • Work with senior development staff and the GM of BRCK Labs to ensure utilization targets are met.
    • Work with senior development staff to ensure code is managed and controlled according to the source control strategy for the project in question.

    Embedded Software Engineer

    The Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of embedded applications on hardware platforms. The focus in this role includes the creation of technical specifications, application firmware design and development, and support for manufacturing and regulatory approval. Knowledge of software development practices and principles is required. The Embedded Systems Engineer must support their peers in day to day development activities and be able to troubleshoot platform defects of limited complexity.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production
    • Design, develop, code, test and debug system software;
    • Review code and design
    • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
    • Integrate and validate new product designs
    • Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
    • Provide post-production support
    • Interface with hardware design and development
    • Assess third party and open-source software

    Requirements

    • Proven working experience in software engineering
    • Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
    • Solid programming experience in C or C++, Python
    • Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
    • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
    • Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
    • Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
    • Strong documentation and writing skills
    • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and effectively raise issues
    • Self-driven, goal oriented, and efficient
    • Functions well in a team environment and has the ability to adapt quickly
    • Experience with Agile development processes is a plus
