    Manager Strategy and Special Projects

    RE: DD/ 01/11/2020: MANAGER STRATEGY AND SPECIAL PROJECTS SS BE 1

    The Role:

    Reporting to the Managing Director under Directorate Department, the Strategy and Special Projects Manager will be responsible for generating business strategies targeting products, services and markets in the media and the identification of relevant special projects to be undertaken to enable the Corporation compete effectively in the market.

    Specific Terms:

    Three (3) years renewable contract subject to good performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Formulating and undertaking initiatives (Intel and Research) that will provide the much needed market intelligence to give the Corporation a competitive edge
    • Re-defining the business in which the Corporation will compete, leveraging on its good will, history, heritage and nostalgia
    • Harmonizing the core business departments of the Corporation on their various undertakings towards positioning the Corporation favorably in the larger broadcasting industry
    • Planning and coordinating the implementation of approved projects and proactively monitoring their progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective actions
    • Ensuring effective quality assurance and standards as per the Corporation’s editorial and regulatory policies and oversight of any risks and issues thereof
    • Managing the approved projects’ budgets, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realized benefits
    • Facilitating the appointment of teams to deliver on  assigned projects to enable effective delivery of the expectations of the Corporation’s stakeholders, clients and viewers
    • Managing effective communication with all stakeholders.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Accounting/Economics/ICT/Social Sciences or related field from a recognized institution
    • Masters degree in a related field will be an added advantage.

    Minimum Experience

    • At least 10 years experience in the media industry with 7 years in managerial role
    • At least one (1) year experience in project and strategic management
    • Must be a registered member of a recognized and regulated professional body.

    Skills & Abilities

    • Strong influencing, interpersonal, analytical, negotiation and communication skills
    • Ability to lead change management in a complex business environment.

    Assistant Editor–In–Chief


    RE: ED/01/11/2020: ASSISTANT EDITOR–IN–CHIEF SS BE 2 (1 POSITION)

    The Role:

    Reporting to the Editor-In–Chief as the principal assistant, the job holder will oversee daily operations of all desks including production of Radio and Television, English and Kiswahili editorial content in consultation with the Editor-In-Chief.
     
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Guiding news team on overall news coverage
    • Enforcing editorial policy and standard operating procedures
    • Chairing editorial meetings
    • Coordinating live coverage for news events
    • Coordinating breaking news coverage
    • Guiding staff on news content development
    • Coordinating research, scripting, packaging and airing of feature stories

    Planning and guiding coverage of special events.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field from a recognized institution
    • Masters degree in Journalism or related field will be an added advantage
    • Seven (7) years working experience in editorial management with at least four (4) years in a managerial position
    • Must have demonstrated excellence in work performance
    • Must have high command of English and Kiswahili languages, both written and spoken
    • Good leadership, supervisory, inter-personal and communication skills
    • High integrity, creativity and team player
    • Membership with a recognized and regulated professional body is desirable
    • Must be fully computer literate.

    Administration Manager

    RE: F&ADM /01/11/2020:  ADMINISTRATION MANAGER SS BE 2 (1 POSITION)

    The Role:

    Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the job holder will be responsible for supporting operations by planning, organizing, implementing administrative systems and effectively supervising staff.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring provision of efficient and effective support services e.g. Office & Estate Cleaning, Transport, Security, Registry, Photocopying and Telephone Services
    • Ensuring maintenance of buildings, plants and equipment is carried out as and when required
    • Responsible for maintenance of motor-vehicles and management of drivers
    • Responsible for preparing bills of quantities relating to repairs of KBC assets
    • Attending to the Corporation’s legal matters upon advice from Corporation Secretary on land, titles and rate issues
    • Coordinating and ensuring achievement of Performance Contracting targets and ISO compliance
    • Providing communication systems by identifying needs, evaluating options and maintaining physical assets
    • Coordinating and providing information as may be required
    • Planning and arranging meeting sectional schedules and monitoring results
    • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual sectional reports
    • Ensuring adequate security measures within the Corporation
    • Responsible for physical assets assigned by the Corporation as well as developing and maintaining the Asset register of the Corporation
    • Preparing sectional annual budget
    • Mentoring, coaching and training staff

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Public Administration / Social Sciences or related field from a recognized institution
    • Masters degree in a related field will be an added advantage
    • At least seven (7) years of work experience with at least four (4) years in a managerial position
    • Membership with a recognized and regulated professional body is desirable
    • Planning, supervisory and budgeting skills
    • High integrity, honesty and team player
    • Must be fully computer literate.

    Workshop Officer I

    RE: F& ADM/02/11/2020:  WORKSHOP OFFICER I SS BA 2 (1 POSITION) & BA 3 (1 POSITION)

    The Role:

    Reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer under Finance & Administration Department, the job holder shall be the Overall in charge of the motor vehicle workshop

    Specific Terms:

    Three (3) years renewable contract subject to good performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for all Corporation motor vehicle repairs, maintenance and body works
    • Preparation of periodical reports on condition of motor vehicles
    • Responsible for training of mechanics
    • Ensure that the workshop procedures are adhered to
    • Supervise and guide workshop personnel.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
    • Demonstrable evidence of ability to repair modern automatic vehicles
    • Must be in possession of a clean driving license (Class B, C, E)
    • Must be Computer literate
    • Must be in possession of relevant continuous on-the-job training certificate
    • Good interpersonal, communication and diagnostic skills
    • Must have practical hands-on experience at Supervisory level in a busy and reputable organization for at least four (4) years.
