    Health Promotion Activity (IECHP) Manager

    Objective of the Position:

    • Defining, coordinating and monitoring all the (IEC) & Health Promotion activities in the project and promoting MSF services according to MSF principles, protocols and standards in order to increase the knowledge of the target population about their health, the support of preventive activities and the collaboration to improve the services.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Strategy Development and Follow Up: Define, update and implement the Health Promotion/IEC strategy and related activities through annual project and budget plan (objectives, target population, campaigns, messages, activities, specific actions, etc.) in collaboration with the Health Promotion team and other key managers. Provide technical feedback on monthly narrative reports ensuring that established program targets and objectives are met.
    • Community Development and Health Promotion: Assessing knowledge of the target group on health risk and analyzing the context (local culture, traditions, habits, health perception) to adapt health activities and support the social mapping (villages, populations, actors), Identifying indicators to monitor HP activities results and achievement and using concrete tools to measure and follow up those activities. Adopt a community development approach aimed at building the capacity of communities, target groups, organizations and key stakeholders in addressing SGBV, medical emergencies and Adolescent and Youth barriers to access health.
    • Engage community health volunteers as key focal persons and first responders. Support the development of a peer education/ focal person program in the schools/communities and within religious organizations especially in relation to the youth friendly program. Work with communities to spread anti-stigma messages. Consider how programming can be culturally sensitive and promote positive gender and cultural norms, while also challenging potentially harmful attitudes and practices. Improve uptake of the different services provided by MSF through community dialogue and networking.
    • Information, Education and Communication: In collaboration with the regional communication office to ensure all IEC materials and messaging are appropriate and effective, and develop new materials as needed: Radio programs messages, written media, newspaper etc. Assessing, developing and adapting IEC/HP materials according to the needs of the project. Leading focus-group discussions with target groups to ensure adequacy, relevance, broadcasting and full awareness of the messages, ensuring they are worded in a pedagogic manner.
    • Further develop IEC tools around the area of social media (communication strategy). In collaboration with the manager of the Youth Friendly Centre, develop edutainment materials for the adolescents and youth. Coordinate peer educators and develop trainer for trainers’ program.
    • Collaboration and Networking: Ensure regular collaboration with the MSF medical team such as Medical Team Leader, Midwife Activity Manager, Social Worker and Project Coordinator to ensure an efficient, effective and integrated service between community and clinic.
    • Liaising with other relevant actors (national and International NGO’s, authorities) also involved in prevention activities, analyzing interventions and building cooperative relationships and advocacy, to enhance the influence of the campaigns and messages and to improve awareness among the targeted population. Build and maintain partnerships and collaboration with other SGBV partners and relevant stakeholders.
    • Knowing protocols and general SOPs for (SGBV), emergency program and youth friendly services. Identify beneficiaries and refer them to the medical team for treatment according to protocols.
    • Supervising the IEC/HP team and their activities, in and outside health facilities, reporting difficulties and progress as well as adapting format and content when necessary. Ensuring that HP/IEC participates in counselling services when needed
    • Management: In close collaboration with the HR department, Planning and supervising the team and participating in all the HR and admin associated processes (recruitment, training, evaluation, development and internal communication) of the IEC / HP staff of the project. Provide ongoing technical support and mentorship for the team to develop professional and technical competency. Define specific objectives and conduct yearly evaluations for the team members. Define gaps in the team knowledge and organize, in collaboration with the Admin and Learning and Development Manager, a proper training schedule.
    • Participating in the monthly reports according to guidelines (SitReps, Statistical reports, etc, Compile, monthly, quarterly reports

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.
    • Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field (Community Development, Social Work, Public Health, Health Promotion, International Human Rights, Gender Studies) or Bachelor’s degree with commensurate work experience
    • Experience: At least 2 years practical experience in development programming at international or national level
    • Experience leading teams and mentoring staff; Expertise in gender, women’s rights and human rights is a plus; Experience with vulnerable populations, and SGBV survivors
    • Public speaking and strategic planning experience required; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently; Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail
    • Languages: - Fluency in English and Kiswahili is a must, other local languages are an added value
    • Knowledge: - Essential Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Pharmacy Storekeeper

    Objective of the Position:

    • Execute the pharmacy/medical warehouse storing activities to keep pharmacy stock above security level and following recommended conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, and in collaboration with the logistics team.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Supervising material orders and dispatching to ensure rational use.
    • Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others, and reporting them, and storing materials in accordance with the system in force, to ensure continuous availability
    • Ensuring good storage conditions of all medical items in the pharmacy in accordance with MSF pharmaceutical standards.
    • Ensuring correct and timely fill in entries on the stock cards and Isystock software.
    • Carrying out or participating in regular inventories including EPREP stock.
    • Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 6 months.
    • Preparing orders of the different consumption units (end users, others), ensuring proper packaging, and dispatching and reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Pharmacy Manager. Informing Pharmacy Manager as soon as stock reaches alert limit.
    • Controlling the Main Pharmacy (warehouse) limited access to authorized personnel and ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately inform the line manager in case of damage, loss, attempted break-ins, or theft in the warehouse.
    • Ensuring that items to be quarantined (on-going quality alerts) or to be placed in quarantine zone (batch recalls, expired or damaged items) are removed from the stock and safely locked.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Education:
    • Essential, secondary school. Desirable, Pharmacy or supply chain related studies.
    • Experience:
    • Essential previous experience of at least 2 years in similar or relevant positions.
    • Desirable previous experience in MSF or other NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) in developing countries.

    • Essential English and Kiswahili, desirable any other mission working language.

    Community Health Educator

    The objective of the Position:

    • The purpose of the Community Health Educator is to increase community awareness of SRH and psychosocial support of health issues amongst young people. Facilitate youth participation (and family participation where relevant), organize and deliver health promotion activities and participate in community events to engage identified target populations. He/she will understand the available medical and social services in the centre. He/she will direct and inform the youth/adolescent on the medical and social services MSF is offering in the Centre.
    • The Community Health Educator will work proficiently in a fast-paced environment, and collaboratively with all Dandora Youth Clinic Centre staff, including an intake team, medical and social services and allied social service private practitioners and external providers.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Facilitate young people and their families to access Dandora Youth Clinic services by providing timely intake, school visits assessment and appropriate intervention, where required.
    • Create the link for greater youth participation/involvement at the center.
    • Organize and lead with the youth a monthly activity planning with the support of their colleagues depending on topics and activities within and outside the center. Define and propose activities targeting youth outside the centre.
    • With the support of the manager/supervisor, find local actors to provide life skills sessions or other services addressing the needs of the youth.
    • Actively participate in supervision, case reviews and team meetings.
    • Contribute to and implement innovative best practice initiatives based on the needs of young people in relation to mental health issues and physiological development.
    • Plan, implement, and evaluate community awareness, service promotion and mental health literacy programs according to the principles of MSF.
    • Participate in SRH activities within the community e.g. schools, youth forums, and interagency networks, to promote Dandora youth centre services and health literacy.
    • Model and demonstrate constructive working relationships and information exchange across the organization.
    • Deliver information to the youth and, their guardians on Sexual and Reproductive Health and adolescence needs, STI and prevention and about MSF, and the services it provides.
    • Engage the youth through platforms provided such as social media together with the youth advisory council.
    • Oversee daily operations of social areas including maintaining equipment, displaying appropriate signage, and operating and supervising computer programs as necessary.
    • Help at recreational facilities by enforcing rules, modelling positive behaviour, and serving as a friend and mentor for young people also actively participate with the youth in the social activities set up such as games and provision of life skills.
    • Encourage youth to participate in activities and form healthy and providing oversight to ensure everyone is treated fairly.
    • Provide education and communication to the youth during waiting hours and provide professional and social materials.
    • Consolidate the link between the community, MSF services and Facility services in collaboration with the Health Promotion team.
    • Under the guide of the Manager/Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications, and behaviours observations), and report problems, successes and constraints to him/her.
    • Data collection and recording.
    • Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by the Centre Manager.
    • Replace the Social Worker when not available, in case of an emergency cases.
    • Assist the Centre Manager to identify, establish, improve, and maintain administrative processes.
    • Participate in relevant training and development activities as an effective team member.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Education: - Degree/ Diploma in Community Health/Social Science
    • Experience: - Demonstrable working experience in Community Health Education
    • Previous experience in a Youth Friendly Service is an added advantage.
    • Languages: - Essential local languages, Kiswahili and English.

    Personnel Administration Manager

    • Responsible for ensuring that MSF is a Responsible employer, supports proper management of HR across the board and assumes full responsibility of all Administrative and legal issues in the Mission.

    Accountabilities

    • Knowledge of Kenya labour laws and regulations; keep her/himself informed of any amendment made in labour legislation by regularly checking legislation sources and/or regularly meeting with lawyer, other local authorities at this level
    • Knowledge of MSF policies, procedures, tools, standards and principles regarding all staff’ (locally hired staff, international, regional, etc.) working conditions, benefits and remuneration, job profiles and function grids, health coverage, etc., adapts them to the Mission reality and ensures an equitable, efficient, transparent, fair and accountable implementation by all relevant staff throughout the Mission.
    • Responsible for the proper implementation and follow up of internal regulations and terms of employment contracts of all locally hired staff, ensuring that all staff are employed in the frame of fair labour conditions, and according to local legislation, MSF HR vision, values and principles.
    • Payroll Management: Oversee and supervise effective payroll processes in the whole mission by coaching and supporting HR Assistants in all projects within the country, ensuring timely and accurate completion and compliance with MSF standard financial operations. Focal point for payroll system and finance interface (Homere & Unifield).
    • Ensures that all functions and job profiles at Mission level meet with the Mission’s function grid approved by HQ and are aligned with MSF Standard Job Profiles and Function Grid, and that any new function or amendment to an existing one (including significant changes in responsibilities and/or mixing existing functions) are requested in advance to HRCo and HRO/REHUCO for previous validation by HQ. Identifies deviations and shares them with HRCo in order to draw an action plan in case corrections are needed/convenient.
    • Ensure that Locally hired staff remuneration (salary, post adjustments, compensations, final settlements, etc,) and benefits (holidays, leaves, social coverage, health coverage, etc.) meet with the Mission’s salary grid validated by HQ, Internal Regulations and HR policies, ensuring MSF acts as a responsible employer at any time.
    • Ensures fulfillment of national legislation regarding employees’ taxes and social security at Mission level, checks that monthly declaration forms for taxes and employee/employer social security contributions are correct and sends them to the Financial Department.
    • Informs HRCo in case a legal risk is detected within her/his area of responsibilities and suggests actions to take in order to prevent it. Follows up employees’ claims and keeps HRCo informed at any time.
    • Incharge of DOSH audits in the mission and ensures that MSF, as an employer, as well as all MSF employees comply with safety and risk prevention measures as stated by local legislation and/or MSF standard policies and procedures.
    • Ensure an efficient filing system (physical and electronic files) of all administrative files at Mission level, granting strict confidentiality of employees’ personal files and other administrative private documents upon request of HRCo, and ensuring preparedness in case of evacuation.
    • Upon request of the HRCo, maintain regular contact with ministries, national administrations, other MSF sections and other NGOs to improve/keep up to date with administrative practices.
    • Knowledge of HRIS system (Homere) in depth and ensures a proper parameterization, use of the system and quality of data throughout the Mission, being her/himself the Missions’ technical reference in absence of a person specifically in charge of the system.
    • Administrative management of Health Insurance for locally hired staff including contracts, payments and follow up on staff enquiries.
    • Mission focal point for onboarding and induction of new staff and designing a specific onboarding experience for each project assigned.
    • Prepares and compiles monthly & annual Mission HR reports and shares with HQ.
    • Incharge of HR budget planning and monitoring for coordination (HR Matrix)

    Requirements

    • Education :Essential: University Degree or further specialization in Human Resource Management or Business
    • Experience :Essential: Experience in HR Management positions (minimum 4 years).
    • Languages : Essential: Excellent command of English and Swahili
    • Knowledge :Essential: Computer literacy (Word, Excel, internet)
