    Central Catering And Accommodation Services Manager

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Responsible for the smooth operation of the Department
    2. Maintain discipline and high standard of courtesy in all the staff responsible to him/her, particularly where relations to the students are concerned.
    3. Maintain consistently high standards of service and the expected quality of food.
    4. Overall management of the department in planning, policy formulation and implementation.
    5. Responsible for staff matters within the department.
    6. Responsible for procurement of stores for the department.
    7. Responsible for formulation and implementation of departmental strategic plan.
    8. Responsible for formulation, planning and control of the departmental budget.
    9. Advise the University Management on Catering and related issues
    10. Any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    Requirements

    1. Master’s Degree in Food Production/Food and Beverage Service/Hospitality Management or relevant area from recognized Institution.
    2. A minimum of 3 years’ experience as Deputy Catering Manager or in a recognised University.
    3. Must be computer literate.

    Clinical Officer

    Job responsibilities

    1. To examine, diagnose and treat patients’ common ailments at the University health facility
    2. To guide and counsel patients, clients and staff on Health issues
    3. To sensitize patients and clients on preventive health
    4. To carry out minor surgical procedures as per training skill
    5. To collect and compile clinical data
    6. To filter and refer patients and clients to appropriate health facilities.
    7. Supervises/oversees junior health workers.
    8. Examine, diagnose and treat patients in the University clinics
    9. Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

    Requirements

    1. A Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Clinical Medicine or related area of specialization from a recognized Institution.
    2. Must be registered as Clinical Officer with Clinical Officers Council.
    3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience at a comparable position.
    4. Must be Computer Literate

    Debrailler

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Perform a variety of Braille transcription work
    2. Assists Lecturer with the preparation of classroom and teaching materials for visually impaired students; and assists with the instruction and supervision of students.
    3. Transcribes materials from print to Braille and Braille to print.
    4. Operate braille equipment and/or computers in transcribing materials from print to Braille
    5. Provide specialized assistance in Braille reading and writing.
    6. Maintain confidentiality to protect privacy of students, families and staff.
    7. Assists with the supervision, guidance and instruction of students in a wide variety of areas
    8. Check students’ progress and assists with individual work assignments.
    9. Administer tests, assignments and examinations

    Requirements

    1. Certificate or diploma or equivalent in brailling and debrailling.
    2. Professional training and paid or volunteer experience working with individuals with disabilities.
    3. Knowledge of Braille transcription methods.
    4.  Knowledge of general problems and behaviors of visually impaired students.
    5. Knowledge of effective methods and techniques for assisting with the skill development and educational progress of visually impaired students
    6. Ability to perform Braille transcription work.
    7. Ability to operate Braille equipment, a computer and specialized software and Braille embosser.

    Sign Language Interpreter

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Providing a full range of interpreting/transliterating services for deaf/hard of hearing (HoH) students/employees
    2. Utilize skill in a variety of signed languages (Contact Sign, and Conceptually Accurate Signed English, CASE) to facilitate communication
    3. Interpret any conversation, meeting, and training session, and interview or other requested event, including providing oral interpreting to students /employees who do not use sign language
    4. Responsible for interpreting in a variety of communication modes during agency-wide work related events such as lectures, conferences, and appraisals, and counseling sessions, etc. for specific training needs and benefits
    5. Responsible for coordinating all incoming customer interpreting service requests through emails and phone calls
    6. To schedule blocks of time for interpreting services following students’/staff requirements and availability
    7. Responsible for communicating schedule conflicts and reschedules short notice priorities as they occur
    8. Collaborate with external contractor for interpreter requirements as needed
    9. Enlighten supervisors and staff on Deaf Culture and interpreter services
    10. Identify process improvement opportunities to improve on services to students/staff
    11. Serve as a representative for the contracting office or provide backup interpreting service for external contracts.

    Requirements

    1. Diploma in the following disciplines; Communications, Sociology, Deaf studies, linguistics, or equivalent from a recognized institution;
    2. Certificate in Computer Application Skills;
    3. Certification from a recognized interpreter certification body;
    4. The role requires at least two (2) years of cumulative Sign Language Interpreting experience.
