Milk Grader at Tai Talent Matters

About the Role 

• The Milk Grader is responsible for raw milk grading and quality control in the field to ensure that only the best quality raw milk that is conforming to the company’s raw milk quality standards is received, recorded and safely delivered to the Factory for processing. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Calibrate the raw milk testing equipment on a daily basis to ensure accuracy of the test results.
• Prepare and standardize chemical reagents as guided by the Quality Test Methods.
• Sampling and testing of raw milk in the field to ensure that it conforms to the company’s raw milk standards before receiving.
• Adhere to accuracy and precision during raw milk grading.
• Comply with all laboratory procedures, processes, and methodologies. 
• Ensuring timely and safe delivery of the received raw milk to the factory to avoid quality deterioration.
• Observing and confirming test results for raw milk delivered to the factory and quickly responding to any corrective action needed to improve on quality.
• Ensure safe custody of company property and equipment (cans, testing equipment, laboratory reagents, consumables, weighing scales etc.) to ensure proper functionality and to avoid losses.
• Ensuring that the company’s raw milk transportation process is duly followed, including ascertaining the quality and quantity of the raw milk procured by use of security seals and locking of the road tankers during transportation.
• Enforce and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the process of raw milk grading, collection and transportation.
• Carrying out inspection of all raw milk handling equipment cleanliness and maintaining a record.
• Promote a strong quality and food safety culture in the field.
• Ensure proper documentation and record keeping of all raw milk deliveries.
• Report promptly all anomalies/ nonconformities to the Raw Milk Procurement and Extension Manager for timely corrective action.
• Actively participate in farmers’ field days and training in clean milk production and animal husbandry.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by management. 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills.

• Certificate or Diploma in Dairy Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry or a related field from a recognized institution.
• 2 to 3 years’ experience in raw milk grading and quality control preferably in a busy milk collection centre or dairy factory.
• Computer literacy.
• Excellent record keeping skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer facing skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and high integrity.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
