- Ensure that the critical care centers are clean and in the right conditions to provide the conducive environment needed by patients into the critical care centers of the hospital;
- Ensure that the critical care centers have all the machinery, equipment and materials needed to provide critical care to patients admitted into the critical care centers of the hospital:
- Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, transducers, or pressure lines, and identify malfunctioning equipment or devices, and report the same to the biomedical engineering section of the hospital;
- Receive pediatric patients in critical conditions that are referred to the critical care centers and book them in for advanced care and attention in the hospital:
- Deliver qualify nursing care in accordance with the set Nursing Standards and as per the policies and procedures of the hospital:
- Ensure the provision of quality critical care nursing services to the admitted critically ill pediatric patients, based on assessment data or identified needs in the hospital:
- Monitor patients for their progress and changes in status and indications of health conditions;
- Administer the prescribed therapeutic procedures based upon patients’ clinical status and assess patients’ pain levels or sedation requirements in the critical care centers of the hospital;
- Conduct pulmonary assessments to identify abnormal respiratory patterns or breathing sounds that indicate medical conditions of patients in the critical care centers of the hospital:

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to this grade, an officer must: -
- Have served in the grade of Assistant Director of Veterinary Services or an equivalent position for a minimum period of three (3) years:
- & Possess a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution;
- Have a Master Degree in any of the following — disciplines; Agricultural/Veterinary/Animal sciences.
- a A Master degree in Business Administration is an added advantage.
- Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations;

ASSISTANT ANIMAL HEALTH OFFICER III, JOB GROUP 11 —(‘H’) - (30 POSTS) (MEAT INSPECTORS)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This will be the entry grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer.
- Carrying out simple treatment of animals; participating in disease search and reporting; demonstration of milking techniques
- Demonstration of external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting.
- Carrying out vaccination and undertaking closed castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, docking, de-breaking and hoof trimming,
- Carrying out ante and post mortem inspection in slaughterhouses,
- Oversee disposal of condemned carcasses and parts, oversee marking and labelling of milk containers, Recommend licensing of slaughterhouses and meat containers
- Issuing of certificate of transport to facilitate transport of meat, keeping daily records of slaughter and condemnation.

This will be the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will be
deployed in a project area in a Sub County or Agricultural Mechanization service station
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implementation of Environmental, Land development projects and programmes and strategies in the Sub-Counties:;
- Capacity building and backstopping on River Bank Protection, land use development, environmental management, soil and water management, agricultural mechanization irrigation and drainage in the Sub- County;
- Promotion of water harvesting techniques for agricultural production:
- Participating in monitoring and evaluation of agricultural projects and programmes in the Sub- County:
- Collating, analysing, storing and disseminating information on environment and land development in the Sub-county:
- Promotion of mechanization extension activities;
- Implementing the Soil fertility management activities in the Sub- County;
- Promoting collaboration in the implementation of environmental Projects and programmes.

- Preparation and implementation of work plans and budgets; and
- Compilation of periodic reports.

ASSISTANT AGRICULTURAL OFFICER III - JOB GROUP 11 — (‘H’) - (4 POSTS)
- An officer at this level will be deployed at the ward level either as the ward crops officer, agribusiness officer or Home economics officer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All technical matters in the wards;
- Collecting and documenting data on farmers in the extension unit including names, gender ratios, soil types, and rainfall, land sizes, different enterprises;
- Monitoring and reporting on food situation, agricultural disasters including pests, diseases, flooding, drought, and destruction by wildlife:
- Mobilizing farmers and stakeholders for and participating in broad based surveys:
- Carrying out individual farm visits:
- Implementing tasks allocated by various Sub-county subject matter specialists;
- Establishing and organizing demonstrations and field days in collaboration with the farmers and other stakeholders;
- Identifying training needs for farmers and farmer groups:
- Monitoring the activities/approaches of other extension providers and advising where necessary;
- Training farmers and farmers groups on identified training needs;
- Working with common interest groups including the vulnerable groups, and individual farmers to develop project proposals for financing;
- Acting as a link between the farmers and Research Institufions and stakeholders on information exchange and technology development and transfer;
- Monitoring of agricultural activities in the wards; sensitizing the farming Communities on cross cutting issues, gender, youth, HIV/AIDS, environment, advocacy and democracy, human rights;
- Management of information desks in the extension units; and Preparation of periodic reports.
