    Team Leader - OPD Doctors

    Job Objective/Purpose

    To manage medical services by providing leadership in patient care, maintaining standards of care, and directing and developing the staff, to ensure provision of highly professional medical and auxiliary services in Opd.

    Key Responsibilities

    • People Management; 
      • Liaise with the HM/HR to ensure optimal staff levels, including reallocation of staff per staffing needs, as well as efficient use of overtimes and locums. 
      • Regular staff engagement and monthly staff meetings with documented evidence of attendance 
      • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, orientation & development of medical staff, including mentoring, coaching and developing the team. 
      • Reward, recognition and discipline; ensuring deserving staff are recognized, and liaise with HR on discipline without undue delay and per policy. 
      • Ensure all the Doctors have valid practice licenses 
    • Ensure the unit is financially viable and demonstrate growth through; 
      • Ensuring quality of Care & Service hence ensuring high patient retention rates by achieving high patient satisfaction rates and NPS scores. 
      • Managing OPD costs within budget through appropriate staffing, timely and accurate billing, managing accidents/incidences, and consumables. 
      • Supporting all marketing events, and clinical support to Hospital, Rescue and Homecare when called upon to. 
    • Actively participate in clinical quality initiatives including, morbidity and mortality meetings, maintaining and enforcing infection control standards, ensuring patients safety (IPSGs), Incident reporting, RCAs and QIPs. 
    • Medical Services;
      • Initiate and maintain proper management and treatment of patients, ensure appropriate and early consultation and referral of patients to specialists, and undertake clinical procedures per training. 
      • Refer clients who require inpatient/home based care to the Avenue Hospitals for Inpatient care/ Avenue Homecare for home-based care and Avenue Rescue for medical transport needs. 
      • Collaborate with IPC Team to maintain and enforce infection control standards and observe the infection control bundles. 
      • Ensure all sentinel incidents/events are recorded and reported within 24 hours using the provided tools. 
      • Review of medical reports and provision of patient updates to insurance companies when required. 
      • Take responsibility for ensuring maintenance of accurate records/ documentation for:patient notes and reviews, verifying the prescription, dosage, allergies, patient identification and right drug; legible prescriptions. 
    • Ensure proper inventory and proper maintenance of all available equipment and other supplies (both medical & non-medical). 
    • Prepare daily/ periodic statistics/ reports for the MSM/ HM 
    • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations. 
    • Ensure adequate knowledge of and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services. 

    Personal Specifications

    • A medical degree and a valid KMPDC Licence 
    • Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate 
    • At least 5 years of management experience 
    • Proven ability to enact policies and procedures

    Unit Manager - Radiology

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Planning, Organizing, and coordinating all the activities in Radiology unit, to ensure quality Radiology services, in line with the Hospital protocols and standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • People Management:
      • Supervise Radiology team in delivering individual and team targets by ensuring the delivery of professional and high standard of service within radiology unit.
      • Prepare monthly work schedules (ROTA) and ensure efficient use of overtimes and locums.
      • Provide leadership, ensuring staff development, engagement, performance, and ensure monthly staff meetings with documented evidence.
    • Ensure the unit is financially viable and demonstrate growth through;
      • Managing Radiology costs within budget through appropriate staffing, managing incidences, and proper consumable management.
      • Offering quality care to patients and ensuring good relationship with stakeholders and client satisfaction, following up on their feedback,
      • Improving the unit’s effectiveness and efficiency through reduction of wastage and duplication, through monitoring and innovation.
    • Radiology Services
      • Coordinate with radiologists on the imaging standards, and with clinicians on radiology findings and progress
      • Ensure proper and timely documentation and maintenance of imaging records, patient records and tests results while maintaining confidentiality
      • Ensure implementation of SOPs and QIPs in the unit, including infection prevention and incident reporting.
      • Ensure radiation safety within the facility for both staff and patients.
    • Equipment and Supplies Management: Ensure proper inventory, standardization, calibration, and maintenance on all imaging equipment.
    • Ensure adequate knowledge of, and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services.
    • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations.

    Personal Specifications

    • Diploma/ Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or Medical Imaging Sciences 
    • Registration with the radiation and Protection Board 
    • 3+ years’ experience in a related position.

    Renal Nurse

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Provide professional and compassionate nursing services and high-quality care to patients, by ensuring their review and treatment as per the Hospital protocols, and nursing standards and practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with multi-disciplinary Clinical team to navigate patients through the treatment journey, ensuring that haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments are administered correctly and as per plan. 
    • Ensure all nursing protocols have been administered as per the set-out policies and guidelines, recording and reporting all sentinel incidents/events within 24 hours using the provided tools. 
    • Constantly Monitor, assess and chart patient’s condition and response to treatment and medication, including the patients’ physical and psycho-social status, and adjust treatment accordingly. 
    • Ensure proper and effective drug administration and management as per policy and procedures. 
    • Conducts pre-dialysis patient assessment including obtaining patient vitals, assessing their vascular access, and laboratory findings, while ensuring all consultants have explained procedures and obtained consent. 
    • Effectively manage patient data and records. 
    • Ensure patients safety following the 6 International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs). 
    • Supervise Patient Attendants as per their job description. 
    • Maintain and enforce infection control standards per policy, and observe the infection control bundles (SSI, VAP, CAUTI and CLABSI) where applicable. 
    • Organize emergency trolley for easy use during resuscitation, ensure drugs and supplies are well stocked, damaged equipment reported promptly, and a checklist kept and updated as needed. 
    • Ensure the unit is financially viable and demonstrates growth by managing costs and ensuring proper pre - authorization and documentation is done. 
    • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations. 
    • Ensure adequate knowledge of and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services i.e. Admission & discharge, nurses’ reports, equipment and supplies, etc. 
    • Adhere to Government and respective professional standards of care and treatment of patients as guided by the Nursing Council of Kenya. 
    • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor. 

    Personal Specifications

    • BSc Nursing, or a Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) and Higher Diploma in Nephrology Nursing 
    • A valid Nursing License from NCK 
    • Valid certification in BLS, ACLS. 
    • 2+ years’ experience working in a similar environment.

    Inpatient Billing Nurse

    Job Objective/Purpose

    To ensure accurate and complete billing of inpatient services in accordance with Avenue Healthcare’s defined policies, procedures, standards and strategies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Daily review of patients’ billing statements, including all discharged patients, for accuracy and completion prior to finalization of the invoices.
    • Ensure services noted in the patient’s chart are billed and clarify any other services rendered with attending clinicians.
    • Resolve incoming queries on billing from patients, insurance companies, consultants or colleagues in a professional and efficient manner.
    • Provide billing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, and late charges data and trends.
    • Prepare billing statements for insurance companies, patients and other third parties.
    • Prepare reports and respond to inquiries concerning billing activities.
    • Participate in audits, service evaluations and process reviews to enhance the delivery of billing service to customers/stakeholders.
    • Ensure all patient encounters and procedures are posted correctly with the current ICD and CPT codes.
    • Client satisfaction (patient, consultants and others)- ensure client satisfaction through optimal quality of care, effective communication, timely feedback and escalation of unresolved issues
    • Oversee the Education of staff, including orientation and Training to ensure performance improvement on patient billing.

    Job Objective/Purpose
