    HIV Testing and Counselling Provider (Uasin Gishu)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Provide quality HTS services within the designated project sites in Uasin Gishu County and hotspots in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health in Kenya.
    • Mobilize eligible KPs eligible for HTS services.
    • Link to care for all positive Clients.
    • Update KP records registers, COMETs and files.
    • Screen all the eligible KPs for TB.
    • Preparing and submitting reports within set deadlines.
    • Meet all performance targets.
    • Participate in outreach activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education o higher. 
    • Certificate in Voluntary Counselling and Testing from National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCOP).
    • Must have been enrolled in Proficiency Test with satisfactory results.
    • Experience in providing HTS to Key populations.
    • Strong personality with good leadership skills.
    • Ability to prepare timely reports.
    • Unquestionable confidentiality.
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
    • Proficient in English and Kiswahili languages.
    • IT literate (Word, Excel and internet).
    • Familiar with local community structures.
    • Experience working with USG-funded projects is desirable.

    Data Clerk (Uasin Gishu)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Manage and organize client files at the service sites.
    • Accurately enter data into various databases. 
    • Identify and correct data entry errors using appropriate quality control methods.
    • Prepare relevant reports as needed.
    • Work with the M & E Officer on DQA and other data matters.
    • Provide general data entry support across the program.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Grade C or higher. 
    • Certificate in IT/Health Records and Information.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to enter data into a computer quickly and accurately. 
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to think analytically.
    • Excellent communication skills. 
    • At least 6 months’ data entry experience.
    • Experience in Key population & HIV data management is an additional advantage.
    • Experience working with USG-funded projects is desirable.

    Clinical Officer

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Managing the operations at the Roadside Wellness Centre.
    • Examining, diagnosing, treating and counselling target groups at the RWC. 
    • Management of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) among long-distance truck drivers, sex workers and the community members with whom they interact. This shall be done in accordance with the National guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health or other relevant Ministries. 
    • Ensure effective use of syndromic approach to the management of STIs, Malaria and other common illnesses.
    • Management of Opportunistic Infections (OIs). 
    • Screening for Tuberculosis. 
    • Administration and management of ART.
    • Adherence monitoring of use of medication particularly for TB and HIV cases.
    • Develop proper records of all HIV and TB infected patients served and ensure follow-up.
    • Provide health education and counselling to the truck drivers, commercial sex workers and communities with whom they interact.
    • Recording data according to North Star Alliance’s specifications.
    • Preparing and submitting reports within set deadlines.
    • Meet all performance targets.
    • Refer all cases requiring specialized care and management to relevant health facilities and or services.
    • Organize outreach activities in collaboration with other partners and stakeholders.
    • Identifying key stakeholders and engaging them in the relevant activities. 
    • Ensuring effective linkage with other North Star staff. 
    • Any other duties which may be assigned by the Director, North Star Alliance from time to time.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized College. 
    • Must be registered by the Clinical Officers’ Council, and possess a valid practising licence 
    • A degree in Clinical Medicine or Social sciences will be an added advantage.
    • Over 3 years’ experience in a reputable health institution/Facility.
    • Practical experience working with Key and Vulnerable Populations programming is an added advantage
    • Strong personality with good leadership skills.
    • Ability to manage/implement projects and prepare good and timely reports.
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication Skills.
    • Proficient in English and local languages.
    • IT literate (Word, Excel and internet).
    • Familiar with local structures

    Outreach Coordinator (Makueni)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Oversee outreach activities within the assigned project site in liaison with other team members.
    • Determine the health and communication needs of the target populations and make recommendations for continuation of or change in services.
    • Ensure achievement of targets for the number of truckers and sex workers reached (daily, monthly, quarterly and annually).
    • Ensure that referrals and follow-ups are done in collaboration with service providers and partners/government, and document.
    • Educate, coach and motivate Peer Educators/Mobilizers.
    • Conduct monthly meetings with peer educators/mobilizers to identify challenges and troubleshoot.
    • Conduct health education sessions targeting truckers and sex workers.
    • Document/record activities including preparation of periodic reports.
    • Establish contacts (linkages) with the government and other partners to leverage resources.
    • Participate in program meetings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma in Social Work
    • Degree in Social Sciences
    • At least 2 years’ experience in outreach work
