    Procurement Officer- Busia

    Overall Responsibility

    • To ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods, services, and medical supplies required for the hospital\'s operations, while maintaining quality standards and building reliable supplier relationships that support uninterrupted patient care delivery.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement procurement plans in coordination with departmental heads.
    • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and quality products.
    • Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with approved budgets and procurement policies.
    • Maintain an updated and pre-qualified supplier database.
    • Ensure proper documentation and filing of procurement records for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Monitor supplier performance and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Coordinate with finance to ensure proper invoice verification and payment processing.
    • Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and statutory requirements.
    • Conduct regular market surveys and benchmarking to ensure value for money.
    • Manage inventory levels in collaboration with stores to prevent stock-outs and overstocking.
    • Participate in tendering processes and evaluation committees where required.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
    • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
    • High level of integrity and understanding of procurement ethics.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and procurement systems.
