    Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking (Nakuru and Kisumu Region)

    Job Summary

    • To manage and sustain a portfolio of Commercial customers, building long term relationships founded on efficient and reliable support for their business. This is achieved particularly through quick risk decisions and managing consistency and quality of operational service.
    • The primary objective is to maximize risk-adjusted portfolio contribution.
    • The jobholder will be responsible for business development both with new customers and with existing customers where they are expected to increase “wallet share”.
    • Executing sales growth tactics and targets in collaboration with the key business partners (Transactional Banking, Global Markets, Asset Based Finance, Commercial Property Finance, Ecosystem, Bancassurance, Agribusiness, and any other product / solution functions).

    Job Description

    Key accountabilities / Deliverables / Outcomes:

    Sales and Service - 65%

    • Principal point of contact with bank customers in the assigned portfolio.
    • Achievement of the portfolio’s annual financial targets: -
    • Balance Sheet Growth,
    • Revenue and Profitability,
    • Growth in share of market, and
    • Portfolio At Risk kept within set limits to minimize potential NPL.
    • Driving customer satisfaction (NPS score), developing and growing relationships with existing and potential customers, identifying opportunities for business development and guiding product development.
    • Maintain Customer Account Plans for all customers in the portfolio such that contact with customers is prioritized.
    • Conduct Annual and, if appropriate, Interim Reviews of Borrowing customers facilities.
    • Where applicable, conduct Annual and/or Interim Reviews of Non-borrowing customers.
    • Determine the key messages, e.g., agreed service standards, negotiated pricing, relationship team contact points, and new product changes, deciding upon the most appropriate communication method.
    • Deal with and find solutions to customer complaints.
    • Determine the products that are most effective in meeting customers' needs and be able to sell these at short notice both reactively and proactively.
    • Research, create, and follow up a target list for potential new business.

    Business Management - 30%

    • Research, create, and follow up on a target list for potential new business.
    • Identify priority customers using the relationship Customer Account Planning templates to assess their present and potential contributions.
    • Gather all the required information that is needed to prepare and assess credit applications. The role holder will be expected to input certain key information such as judgmental information. (They will work with Assistant Relationship Manager, Business Development Manager for relevant product, and the Corporate Credit Manager resources to construct credit applications).
    • Adherence to approved policies and procedures and providing feedback on the same so as to keep them competitive.
    • Audit issues closed with Nil repeat findings, and
    • 100% SLA Adherence to agreed turnaround times.
    • Control and quality of the portfolio, using available triggers and adherence to Risk management guidelines and policies.

    Staff Management - 5%

    • Day-to-day coaching and development of the portfolio Assistant Relationship Manager(s).
    • Performance tracking and periodic reviews of the supporting ARM.

    Role / Person Specification

    Qualification

    • A relevant business-related degree from a recognized university.
    • Additional professional / advanced qualifications are an added advantage.

    Experience

    • At least 5 years in relationship management in Business / Corporate Banking

    Knowledge and Skill

    • A detailed knowledge of the Commercial and Corporate set of products as well as a broad understanding of the products available in Absa.
    • For Complex products, will have a detailed knowledge of the requirements of the more sophisticated customers.
    • Introduce the product and coordinate the introduction of the relevant Group product specialist.
    • A broad understanding of policies and strategies within the country as they relate to the demands of the customer base.
    • A detailed understanding of Country and Group guidelines and policies relating to Credit Risk and related management.

    Bancassurance Officer - First Assurance

    Job Summary

    The Bancassurance Officer will assist in execution of the banca sales strategy for insurance products at First Assurance Co. Ltd by focusing on maximizing sales through bank channels. The officer is expected to collaborate with internal stakeholders for efficient relationship managing while ensuring revenue targets are exceeded from the assigned portfolio of bank partners. Other duties include ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing market presence, customer satisfaction while going above and beyond in the daily call of duty.

    Job Description

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banking partners to promote bancassurance products.
    • Collaborate with insurance providers to develop compelling product offerings tailored to customer needs.
    • Accountable for achieving daily/weekly/annual income targets as cascaded by the line manager.
    • Establish relationships with key clients or business influencers in the local area.
    • Implement effective sales strategies to maximize revenue generation and market penetration.
    • Undertake scheduled trainings to sales staff of assigned banks.
    • Visits to outlets to ensure correct adherence to processes and procedures.
    • Timely communication of all changes relating to insurance activities or requirements.
    • Stakeholder management by working with Banks sales teams to set business direction and ways of conducting insurance business.
    • Working with compliance team to ensure all regulatory matters are adhered to.
    • Delight clients with excellent service and assist them efficiently by sending relevant documentation and attending to any queries or related issues they may have timeously.
    • Offer all relevant and up to date information regarding the product offered to assist the client to make the most informed choice, such as explaining the types of cover that is offered and what the benefits and features are on the product.
    • Retain existing and attract new customers by providing customer service through living Absa way.
    • Drive growth in Bancassurance business within their regions.
    • Prospect and market various First Assurance products to prospective Banks’ clients and advice customers on the adequacy of cover requested for in relation to the policies available.
    • Carry out market research, customer data mining and segmentation and provide customer feedback to Bancassurance Manager for the development of new products and enhancement of existing ones to suite the various market segments.
    • To facilitate timely issuance of relevant documents
    • Ensure that all queries on technical insurance issues from customers and branch staff are addressed promptly while providing technical guidance.
    • Premium collection and remittance.
    • Onboard new bank partners through prospecting and creation of new relations

    Education and Experience Required:

    • University Degree preferably in a business field from a recognized University.
    •  Over 5 years in insurance sales, 3 years of which must be in Bancassurance sales. 
    • Must have underwriting experience.
    • Professional qualifications 
    • ACII, Diploma in Insurance (UK) or
    • AIIK, Diploma in Insurance (Kenya) or with good progress in either.

    Business Development Officer, Retail - First Assurance

    Business Development- Retail

    • Relationship Management of retail agents to deliver targeted premium outputs.
    • Pipeline business management, quotation processing and transmitting the same agents within TATs.
    • Debt Management as per the debt management standard.
    • Draw up and operationalize SLAs with agents for differentiated service delivery.
