    Senior QA Supervisor

    Key tasks:
    Guarding against customer expectation deviations from raw material intake to final dispatch foe the finished product.

    • Planning staff and equipment resource in advance to prevent interruptions to activities carried out by
    • the quality department.
    • Familiarize with all customer finished product specification and ensure that all product packed have a
    • color printed specification copy available.
    • Managing of all equipment and tools within the pack house to ensure optimal performance through
    • scheduled maintenance, training of operators and safe storage when not in use.
    • Giving feedback to the QA manager / Technical manager on any aspects that are preventing the QA
    • function to work at optimal levels.
    • Scheduling meetings with relevant sections to ensure a comprehensive understanding of standards,specifications
    • Planning of refresher trainings to ensure a high level of understanding and for updating in case of
    • changes to normal practice.
    • Understanding the requirements for audits and customer visits and be able to explain this job function
    • as set out in the job description and how this function is managed.
    • Liasing with Head office and pack house Manager when needed.
    • Maintaining a high level of hygiene within and around the facility.
    • QA positive clearance of all finished product before final boxing.
    • Ensure that the laid down Quality management systems are adhered to at all times during production
    • process to ensure that the product conforms in terms of quality, safety and legality.
    • Investigating of all customer complaints and ensuring that customer complaint responses are shared
    • back within the specified timelines at all times.
    • Pest prevention contact person for the site, maintain and keep pest prevention records and schedules up to date.
    • Looking for ways of improving the current systems / practice applied on site whenever there is a change in supermarket standards.
    • Ensuring that the documents / records in use are current, the correct versions and completed in a way
    • that it is unambiguous and clear.
    • Ensuring that all QA records are fully signed off and approved as due diligence records.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisor, manager or senior management

    Production Manager

    Key Responsibilities: Supervision of Section Heads in the allocated area/farm

    OVERAL DUTIES

    • To manage vegetable and fruit production in sections or a portion of the farm assigned to you.
    • To execute the weekly planting program across the sections by proper allocation of the plantings to
    • particular sections.
    • To confirm all Land preps are done to standard and authorise the section managers to plant.
    • To supervise the application of all pre-plant fertilizers and to ensure that program quantities applied
    • according to the AAA standard of pre-plant fertilizers which is BANDING.
    • To supervise and ensure timely and full implementation of all crop nutrition programs.
    • To plan and supervise the proper implementation of sound crop rotations in consultation with the Farm
    • Manager
    • To supervise the Head of Spray and the Section Head on pre-emergence herbicide applications on timing and proper application techniques.
    • To supervise the crop scouting programs and to regularly check on scouting entries in relation to general pest pressure in the sections.
    • To craft together with Section Heads the weekly spray program for approval by the farm manager
    • To supervise daily and weekly weeding targets output for the sections so that weed pressure is kept to a
    • minimum most of the time.
    • To plan labor allocations and assign tasks for the daily and weekly harvesting programs together with the Head of harvesting and supervising the same.
    • To generate together with the head of harvesting the 5 weeks predictions and be able to explain the
    • numbers to the sales team.
    • To ensure that produce that conforms to the specs specific to a particular vegetable type are delivered to the packhouse and to be able to take prompt action in the case of highlights on non-conforming deliveries.
    • To be the link between the packhouse and the fields in terms of all deliveries made.
    • To supervise and motivate labor for maximum production and productivity.
    • To deal with cases of indiscipline the moment they are reported according to the labor laws of the country and AAA code of conduct.
    • To train Section Heads and supervisors on the proper execution of their daily duties.
    • To prepare and ensure success in various Audits that the company subscribes to.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time depending on operational requirements.

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    • A good understanding of vegetable crop production systems
    • A good understanding of vegetable crop nutrition and crop protection activities
    • A good understanding of the different tasks and ability to demonstrate to your supervisors on the level of excellence required in the accomplishment of the same
    • Labor motivation and training.
    • Continuous assessment of crop potential for optimum usage of inputs.
    • Ability to measure out good task work and reviewing the present task levels from time to time.
    • Creation and presentation of the weekly production report encompassing all sections under your supervision.

    TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

    • The tools and equipment to enable you to fulfill your role objectives shall be made available as and when required.
    • This shall be upon being assigned a task that require a particular set of tools or by you asking for certain tools pursuant to accomplishing a particular task.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Ability to meet agreed production targets i.e. planting targets, yield targets.

    • Quality of produce supplied to pack houses must meet the minimum pack-out for that vegetable.
    • Making accurate predictions that are within a margin of error 15% above or below the prediction
    • Crop and field verge cleanliness.
    • Timely implementation of all agronomic operations e.g. support, weeding, coiling, tucking, topping.
    • Irrigation efficiency and management of waste.
    • Insect pest and disease control success strategies
    • Crop nutrition
    • Staff discipline

    Key Competencies: A desired minimum qualification is a general diploma Holder or Graduate in
    Horticulture

    QA Manager

    Position Purpose/ Objective:

    To ensure the pack house is operating according to internationally accepted standards. Gearing towards maximum consumer satisfaction for all products in terms of safety, quality and legality.
    Coordinating the implementation of the technical standards on site and to ensure robust due diligence systems are in place supporting the facility to ensure the highest level of compliance to the food safety standards are maintained.
    Key tasks:

    • Customer complaints and out of specification micro investigation, corrective action follow up and response.
    • Customer and packaging specification update.
    • Document controls and record approval.
    • Pest control process update.
    • Planning staff and equipment resource in advance to prevent interruptions to activities carried out by the quality department.
    • Responsible for audits and full time compliance at the factory.
    • OSH lead coach

    Roles:

    • Managing of all equipment and tools within the pack house to ensure optimal performance through
    • scheduled maintenance, training of operators and safe storage when not in use.
    • Giving feedback to the Technical manager on any aspects that are preventing the QA function to work at optimal levels.
    • Investigating and looking for ways of improving the current systems / practice applied on site.
    • Scheduling meetings with relevant sections to ensure a comprehensive understanding of standards,
    • specifications. Job requirements and use of equipment within the quality department.
    • Measure the performance of the deputies and / or staff that works within your function.
    • Planning of refresher trainings to ensure a high level of understanding and for updating in case of
    • changes to normal practice.
    • Understanding the requirements for audits and customer visits and be able to explain this job function
    • as set out in the job description and how this function is managed.
    • Liasing with Head office and pack house Manager when needed.
    • Understanding of NEW Product Development and looking at new concepts that can be trialed within the current HACCP. Discussing NPD on behalf of the site during technical meetings.

    • process to ensure that the product conforms in terms of quality, safety and legality.
