    Swahili/History Teacher

    Job Purpose:

    Enabling the success of students and helping in academic achievement to reach their potential through the implementation of the SABIS® curriculum and philosophy and through the consistent use of the SABIS® teaching methodology.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teaching using the provided lesson plans (may also be asked to develop such plans based on provided pacing charts as relevant and needed) for their subject(s) in order to be able to teach using the SABIS® point system.
    • Marking of exams related to their subject matter in accordance with the schedule and material provided by the department.
    • Discussing disciplinary and student performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) and head of department (HOD) as needed.
    • Implementing the SABIS® point system to ensure an environment conducive to learning in the classroom.
    • Providing support by invigilating exams as needed in an adequate and properly managed exam environment.
    • Providing support for the academically low performing students, to help improve and get motivated to reach their potential.
    • Develop and/or follow external exams preparation by going through past papers as planned in the structured revision schedule ( When applicable to specific grade).
    • Aiding in duties that may include testing children, substituting for absent teachers , organizing children for lunches and buses, controlling traffic (vehicles and people), and other administrative duties that may be assigned to him/her by the school SABIS® management.
    • Preparing and participating in activity plans for all such student life related events such as but not limited to art, open house and physical education in coordination with the student life coordinator.
    • Attending training sessions when needed and as per the request of school management in order to enhance their understanding of the SABIS® system improving their performance
    • Performing such other related tasks or projects as they arise and as delegated by the school SABIS® management.

    Ideal Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent
    • Swahili Proficient / Native Swahili Speaker
    • MS Office needed components
    • Communication Skills
    • Ability to work within a team

    Teacher Assistant

    Job Purpose:

    Supporting teachers inside and outside the classroom in order to ensure a safe, productive and clean environment for the students.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Keep a record of children’s attendance and deliver attendance form to the office.
    • Make class displays, games and visual materials following the teacher’s direction; written or drawn bulletin boards that correspond with topics and class work.
    • Put up / take down displays.
    • Reinforce class/school rules and behavior.
    • File notes into children’s reading folders and check folders every morning for notes.
    • Keep all shelves tidy and wipe clean once a month; overall tidiness and cleanliness of the classroom.
    • Support class teacher during the lesson by keeping children focused and attentive.
    • Assist teacher with correcting of children’s work.
    • Listen to children read their word cards.
    • Preparation for activities and cleaning up when work is finished. Clean up after art lesson as well as prepare equipment for such lessons.
    • Prepare and clean up after snack. Wipe tables, wash cups and plates.
    • Assist with lunch get food from counter, supervise children while eating and cleaning up.
    • Supervise toilet and hygiene: remind them to flush toilet, wash their face and hands, etc. if the children have an ‘accident’, the assistant will help the child change their clothing.
    • Supervise outdoor play.
    • Supervise nap or quiet time: children are to be quiet and resting if they are not sleeping.
    • Accompany students to the kindergarten in the morning and assist with Morning Care supervision.

    Ideal Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent
    • Non-Native English speaking candidates only

    Kindergarten Teacher

    Job Purpose:

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teaching using the provided lesson plans (may also be asked to develop such plans based on provided pacing charts as relevant and needed) for their subject(s) in order to be able to teach using the SABIS® point system.
    • Marking of assessments relevant to their subject(s).
    • Discussing disciplinary and student performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) as needed.
    • Implementing the SABIS® point system to ensure an environment conducive to learning in the classroom.
    • Providing support by invigilating exams as needed in an adequate and properly managed exam environment.
    • Providing support for the academically low performing students, to help improve and get motivated to reach their potential.
    • Attending training sessions when needed and as per the request of school management in order to enhance their understanding of the SABIS® system improving their performance
    • Managing the report card on quarterly basis by entering the information into the SSMS as well as manually filling an internal report of student performance, all in accordance to instructions of the AQC.
    • Preparing and posting students art work on the bulletin boards as planned by the AQC or planned by the teacher and approved by the AQC in all designated areas.
    • Preparing and participating in activity plans for all such student life related events such as but not limited to art, open house and physical education in coordination with the AQC.
    • Preparing students for the school concerts; for example – but not limited to - singing and performing in front of an audience
    • Aiding in duties that may include testing children, substituting for absent teachers , organizing children for lunches and buses, controlling traffic (vehicles and people), and other administrative duties that may be assigned to him/her by the school SABIS® management
    • Performing such other related tasks or projects as they arise and as delegated by the school SABIS® management

    Ideal Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent 
    • Native English speaking candidates only
    • MS Office needed components
    • Communication Skills
    • Ability to work within a team
