    Consultant to Undertake the Development of Results Report on Climate Smart Agriculture Projects

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Results Report

    • Identify and document the results (and project ongoing) achieved contributing to the TOC of the UN Women Flagship Programme Women’s Economic Empowerment through Climate Smart Agriculture in 11 countries in ESA Region through desk reviews of relevant documents and through key informant interviews at country level (conducted remotely) capturing both qualitative and quantitative aspects. Results should be reported in a comprehensive narrative from a regional perspective drawing together the combined achievements of country offices and compiling any knowledge products and communications materials developed during the course of the implementation between 2018-2022). The result report will be no longer than 20 pages of text (not including preliminary pages or annexes).
    • Elaborate key best practices for regional replication and scale-up.

    Proposal Development

    • Draft a multi-country regional project document in line with UN Women guidelines targeting with interventions at regional, national, and sub-national level in collaboration with country office and regional office teams. The project document will include a theory of change and project interventions across all countries in ESA that are implementing CSA programming.
    • The project document will be based on an analysis and assessment of interventions (summaries based on the regional results report, UN Women studies and in discussion with regional and country focal points) that will close the gender gaps in agriculture productivity in an environmentally sustainable manner and assess the prospects for women increased agricultural productivity, and climate resilient agriculture adaptation.
    • The project document will build on identified synergies between the ongoing country programme initiatives of UN Women to expand women’s role in the agricultural sector
    • Coordinate the process of validation, revision, and finalization of the draft documents.

    Deliverables

    • Climate Smart Agriculture results report for the East and Southern Africa Region in English. The result report will be no longer than 20 pages of text (not including preliminary pages or annexes).
    • Project Document package with an accompanying detailed budget and results framework prepared, validated with UN Women country office focal points and submitted to UN Women

    Education

    Required Skills and Experience

    • A post graduate degree, in a relevant social sciences field such as social policy, development studies, gender studies, economics, agriculture, or another related field.

    Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in designing and managing implementation of climate change, agriculture and gender development projects in women’s economic empowerment with at least three years in resource mobilization.
    • At least three years of work experience in East and Southern Africa.
    • Experience in preparing logical, coherent, and consistent technical documents including log frames and budgets.
    • Prior demonstrated experience in developing and writing proposals for institutional donors.
    • Ability to integrate different experiences, methodologies, and approaches from a diverse range of stakeholders, organizations, and technical experts.
    • Prior demonstrated experience in documenting results.

    Language Requirements

    • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

    Planning and Coordination Analyst

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Provide support to the Regional Planning and Coordination Specialist in strategic planning and partnership

    • Provide support towards the formulation of concept notes for UN Women's intervention areas; as well as the office’s strategic note;
    • Provide support to the Biannual and Strategic Note development processes (supporting the Regional Office and Country Office level process) as well as program and project proposals sent for the Regional Level Project Approval Committee’s processing;
    • Follow up on required action/outstanding issues and report on outcome/ result. Alert the Strategic Planning and Coordination Specialist on critical issues to be addressed.

    Provide technical support to the development of strategic partnerships efforts, coordination and Intergovernmental work

    • Provide support through monitoring of Strategic partnerships and related Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Letter of Agreements (LOA), among others by way of keeping online tracking system
    • Prepare background documents and analysis for the Strategic Planning and Coordination Specialist to forge and implement strategic partnerships to increase outreach on UN Women’s work in the region;
    • Provide secretarial support the Regional Civil Society Advisory Group (R-CSAG) as well as the Regional Gender Working Group (RGWG) as necessary.
    • Provide logistical support to the Regional Gender Working Group bi-monthly (two months basis) meetings

    Provide advocacy communication, knowledge management support to the Regional Office

    • Provide research related support on Regional and Country level achievements for publishing on online platforms such as the coordination community of practice monthly newsletter;
    • Provide logistical support for the regional level Generation Equality Forum advocacy campaigns as well as other global level events such as International Women’s Day, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence;
    • Provide logistical support for Africa pre-Commission on Status of Women annual event

    Facilitate knowledge building and sharing

    • Provide support to the development and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned; ensure incorporation into programme planning;
    • Provide logistical support towards the annual staff retreat and all quarterly review and planning meetings of ESARO

    Support other operations related activities as may be needed and requested by Supervisor

    • Timely and quality contributions to the CO’s coordination efforts
    • Quality inputs and technical support provided to UN agencies
    • Quality inputs to planning processes and reports, and quality support to the Country Representative
    • Increased awareness of UN Women’s work

    Education And Certification

    Required Skills and Experience

    Experince

    • At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience working with inter-agency coordination and strategic programme planning processes;
    • Experience in the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of programmes;
    • Experience working in gender equality and women’s rights at the international level is an asset;
    • Experience working in developing countries within the UN system, Agencies, Funds or Programs is an asset.

    Language Requirements

    • Fluency in English is required;
    • Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset.
