    Senior Dealer (Consumer and Business Banking)

    Job Summary

    To implement the Global Markets Sales business strategy in line with the Absa Markets Sales Strategy, Policies, Procedures, and Group Values.

    Job Description

    Key accountabilities/Deliverables/Outcomes:

    MARKETS SALES DEALING

    • Under the guidance of the Head, Global Market Sales-RBB actively participating in the implementation of the Market Sales Strategy in line with the Absa Market Sales Strategy and Country sales requirements.
    • Acting as the primary point of contact for both internal (Commercial, business banking & Retail) and external Market Sales clients, while ensuring regular face-to-face engagement with the respective teams to promote teamwork.
    • Manage one’s client portfolio, to include:
      • Daily contact with clients who have completed the Terms of Business (TOB)
      • Regular face-to-face interaction with clients in one’s portfolio.
      • Regular contact with principal Relationship Managers

    Key actions to include:

    • Managing Retail and Business Banking Segment portfolio to generate strong growth and sustainable returns over the business cycle with special focus on Customer Service and Financial Performance
    • Assisting the Head of Market sales - RBB in achieving strategic and tactical objectives
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create value and achieve business goals.
    • Providing periodic reporting on client growth, volume, and profitability in one’s own portfolio.
    • Periodically providing detailed Management Information to the Head, Global Market Sales-RBB on the composition, performance, and profitability of the client portfolios.
    • Assisting the Head of Market sales -RBB with any ad-hoc reporting requests

    • Grow revenue to gain Market share
    • Build a structured FX flow business

    Risk management products – 25%

    • Product diversification

    Customer obsession – 10%

    • Uphold market leading customer standards (internal/external)
      • Giving superior customer service
      • Expanding the customer base as is appropriate.
      • Undertaking customer visits (and joint customer visits with the coverage teams)
      • Show case risk management solutions to clients.
      • Actively participating in client events, including trainings and seminars, and Entertaining clients as permitted under the bank and group compliance policies.
      • Conversion of dormant clients to active clients

    Efficiency & Governance – 10%

    • Adhere to all applicable Absa frameworks, policies, and procedures, demonstrating sound judgement and responsible risk management, and when required, highlight breaches and request dispensations & waivers on a timely basis.
    • Refrain from behaviours and conduct that could be detrimental to our external and internal clients
    • Ensure that Counterparty credit limits are not exceeded.
    • Ensure FX Trades supporting documents requirements are met.
    • Ensure all FX tickets booked are utilized.

    Digital transformation – 25%

    • Ensure clients are onboarded on/ and utilize Markets Sales digital platforms. 

    Role/person specification

    Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related course

    Experience

    • Experience in foreign exchange dealing, managing retail and business Banking Clients portfolio and financial markets risk management solutions.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Portfolio management, customer service, regulatory environment, Financial Markets happenings
    • Sales Techniques
    • Understanding of interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk and credit risk
    • Understanding of the policies, procedures and ethical requirements of a Market environment
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision and deliver under tight deadlines.
    • Excellent Stakeholder management

    To support delivery of targeted retail business (non-medical) growth with the right parameters.

    Job Description

    Business Development- Branch

    • Manage relations for all General and Medical business channels at the branch to deliver targeted premium outputs.
    • Spearhead and implement market expansion strategies at the branch.
    • Pipeline business management, quotation processing and transmitting the same within TATs.
    • Draw up and operationalize SLAs with intermediaries for differentiated service delivery.
    • Monitor and adhere to inter-departmental service level standards to ensure smooth running of the branch
    • Renewal follow-up to achieve the renewal retention ratios.
    • Champion cross selling for branch business
    • Coordinate intermediaries’ activities at the branch level

    Market Intelligence

    • Collect market intelligence through research by reading articles, publications, internet, word of mouth and networking daily to keep abreast of market developments.
    • Assess market opportunities with respect to competitor sales sources by remaining in touch with market forces and influencing.
    • Manage knowledge capital by collecting, categorizing, storing, protecting, and distributing the result of market.

    Financial

    • Debt management as per the debt management standard
    • Manage and control expenditure for travel, events, and promotional items.
    • Plan, assign and allocate funds for events plans, or promotional items requited for brand management through brand management activities as per the structured calendar.

    Operations & Compliance

    • Actively keep up to date with relevant knowledge, legislation and developments within the business unit and insurance industry that may have an impact on the business advantage.
    • Coordinate compliance with regulatory requirements for brokers for licensing and on boarding requirements as per ABC third party standards.

    Education and Experience Required:

    • Degree in Commerce, Insurance, Law, Business Administration
    • Qualified ACII or IIK
    • At least 8 years in Insurance Sales/or Underwriting

    Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
