    General Manager - Biomass

    About the role 

    • BURN is seeking a General Manager - Biomass, who will be a strategic and mission-driven leader of our distribution across Africa. This role will combine commercial acumen and social impact expertise to achieve business unit targets through meaningful community engagement. The GM – Biomass will ensure that our products reach those who need them most while maintaining a sustainable operation.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Multi-country leadership.  Develop and execute in-country strategy to achieve business objectives, leading the country business unit managers in running an efficient, effective and profitable operation. Own the overall business unit PnL, driving cost management and revenue growth.  
    • Distribution management. Refine the last-mile distribution model to ensure the achievement of commercial targets, maintaining the quality of distribution standards. This will include both in-field and tech-focused control measures. Build a highly trackable and scalable system to meet distribution targets.
    • Community engagement. Collaboratively redesign the community-engagement approach in each market, ensuring the agent network is identifying, interacting with and selling to the ideal customer profile.
    • Logistics and inventory coordination. Oversee distribution systems, coordinating the management of in-country logistic operation functions, product logistics cycle from the border to all of BURN’s country markets, ensuring optimal stocking to meet demand.
    • Support department coordination. Ensure smooth collaboration with support departments e.g. HR, Finance, Legal etc. to resource distribution teams in-country
    • Market Knowledge. Drive collecting market insights from community engagement to senior management, to inform strategy and support meeting organization objectives.
    • Performance Management. Design and implement performance management systems that balance commercial and impact metrics, from country leadership through to agent level. Travel regularly to the countries to engage with local teams, assess operations, and strengthen relationships.

    Skills and Experience

    • 10+ years of experience in operations and/or commercial management, with significant exposure to rural markets
    • Proven track record in building and managing last-mile distribution networks
    • Background in community development or social impact work would be a plus
    • Understanding of rural market dynamics and community engagement principles
    • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision making
    • Ability to balance commercial and social impact objectives

    Senior Auditor

    About the Role:

Join us as a Senior Auditor in the carbon credits generation industry, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring transparency, compliance, and operational excellence within this critical sector.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    As a Senior Auditor, you will:

    • Develop and execute risk-based audit plans focusing on carbon credit generation, trading, and compliance processes.
    • Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of controls, particularly in project verification and certification processes.
    • Assess compliance with international carbon credit standards, such as CDM, VCS, or Gold Standard.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across project development, finance, and legal teams to address audit findings effectively.
    • Prepare and present detailed audit reports, including risks and recommendations, to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Lead reviews of emission reduction project documentation, data integrity, and reporting practices.
    • Stay updated on global carbon market trends, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Mentor and guide junior audit staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field.
    • Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CIA, or relevant qualifications in environmental or sustainability standards.
    • At least 5–7 years of experience in internal/external auditing, preferably in the carbon credits, renewable energy, or environmental sustainability industries.
    • Strong understanding of carbon credit generation processes, including project development, verification, and certification.
    • Proven experience in planning and executing audits independently, particularly in regulatory and compliance environments.
    • Experience working with international frameworks like CDM, VCS, or Gold Standard is highly desirable.
    • Background in mentoring or leading audit teams is an advantage.
    • Integrity and Accountability: Demonstrates the highest ethical standards and commitment to transparent processes.
    • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex systems and processes.
    • Effective Communication: Exceptional report writing and presentation skills tailored to diverse stakeholders.

    • Familiarity with carbon market mechanisms, such as carbon offset registries and monitoring frameworks.
    • Proficiency in auditing tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms.
    • Expertise in international carbon credit standards like CDM, VCS, or Gold Standard.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to analyze and present complex data.
