    PR & Digital Marketing Officer

    Job Purpose

    The PR, Media & Digital Marketing Officer will serve as the primary voice and digital presence of City Eye Hospital, responsible for managing all public relations, media communications, and digital marketing activities. This role is critical in building and maintaining the hospital's reputation, engaging with the community, and promoting our services through traditional and digital channels.

    Key Responsibilities

    Public Relations & Media Management

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and key stakeholders in the healthcare and local community sectors.
    • Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and public statements about hospital services, achievements, events, and initiatives.
    • Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson for the hospital when required.
    • Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, and media visits to the hospital.
    • Monitor media coverage and prepare regular media monitoring reports for management.
    • Manage crisis communications and develop rapid response strategies for sensitive situations.
    • Respond to media inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

    Digital & Social Media Marketing

    • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
    • Create engaging content (graphics, videos, posts, stories) that educates, informs, and promotes hospital services and eye health awareness.
    • Manage the hospital's social media calendar and ensure consistent, timely posting.
    • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and reviews on all digital platforms.
    • Analyze social media metrics and provide regular performance reports with recommendations for improvement.
    • Manage paid social media advertising campaigns to promote specific services or events.
    • Maintain and update the hospital's website content.
    • Develop marketing campaigns for patient engagement and health education.

    Content Creation & Brand Management

    • Produce high-quality written and visual content including blog posts, patient success stories, health tips, and educational materials.
    • Ensure all communications maintain brand consistency and align with the hospital's values and messaging.
    • Photograph and document hospital events, activities, and patient success stories (with appropriate consent).
    • Create and manage a content library of approved images, videos, and templates.
    • Develop newsletters and other communication materials for internal and external audiences.

    Strategy & Reporting

    • Support the Marketing Supervisor in developing annual PR and digital marketing strategies.
    • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging digital marketing opportunities.
    • Prepare monthly reports on PR activities, media coverage, and digital marketing performance.
    • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including reach, engagement, website traffic, and lead generation.
    • Manage the PR and digital marketing budget efficiently.

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.

    Experience

    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in PR, media relations, or digital marketing (healthcare experience is an advantage).
    • Proven track record of successful media placements and social media campaigns.
    • Experience managing multiple social media platforms and creating diverse content types.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Swahili proficiency is an advantage).
    • Strong media relations skills with existing media contacts preferred
    • Digital marketing expertise including social media management, content creation, and analytics
    • Graphic design skills using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
    • Photography and basic video editing skills for content creation.
    • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite)
    • Understanding of Google Analytics, social media analytics, and reporting tools
    • Knowledge of healthcare marketing regulations and patient privacy (HIPAA/data protection principles).
    • Video & Content Creation Tools
    • Canva (Pro)
    • CapCut / InShot for short-form videos.
    • Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects where licenses are available.
    • Ability to adapt to licensed tools provided by the organization.
    • Knowledge of healthcare marketing regulations and data protection.

    • Experience in healthcare, hospital, or medical services marketing.
    • Established network of media contacts in Kenya.
    • Experience with paid advertising platforms (Facebook Ads, Google Ads).
    • Video production and editing skills.
    • Experience with website content management systems.

    Working Conditions

    • Standard office hours with occasional evening or weekend work for events.
    • May require travel within Nairobi for community events and media engagements.
    • Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.
    • Computer-based work with regular use of digital devices.

    Marketing Assistant

    Job Purpose

    • The Marketing Officer will support in the Marketing Department in executing marketing strategies, coordinating outreach programs, managing patient relationships, and promoting City Eye Hospital's eye care services to increase patient volumes and strengthen the hospital's position as a leading eye care facility in the region.

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Outreach Assistance

    • Support the planning and execution of community eye screening camps in schools, churches, residential areas, communities etc.
    • Help coordinate logistics for outreach events including preparing materials, equipment checklists, and transport arrangements.
    • Assist during health camps by registering participants, distributing materials, and collecting data.
    • Help organize health talks and awareness sessions on eye health topics.
    • Document outreach activities through photos and notes for reporting purposes.

    Marketing Materials Management

    • Maintain inventory of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, and promotional items.
    • Coordinate printing and production of marketing collateral with suppliers.
    • Distribute marketing materials to reception areas, partner locations, and during events.
    • Ensure all marketing materials are up-to-date and well-stocked at key touchpoints.
    • Assist in preparing simple marketing materials using templates provided.

    Event Support

    • Assist in organizing hospital events such as health awareness days, patient appreciation events, and exhibitions
    • Help with event logistics including venue setup, materials preparation, and vendor coordination
    • Support registration and reception duties during hospital events
    • Help with post-event cleanup and documentation
    • Prepare post-event summary reports with attendance data

    General Marketing Support

    • Monitor competitor activities and report findings.
    • Assist in distributing hospital updates and promotional materials to referral partners.
    • Support internal communication by updating notice boards and information displays.
    • Run errands related to marketing activities as needed.

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field

    Experience

    • 1-2 years of experience in marketing, sales, customer service, or related field.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Customer Service: Friendly, patient-focused approach with good interpersonal skills.
    • Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records.
