The Role:

 Flutterwave is seeking an experienced and dynamic senior leader to head Fraud Risk Strategy to join our team. The leader  will play a critical role in managing and mitigating financial losses and payment partner compliance due to fraud risk in our merchant acquiring and remittance business . This individual will lead a team responsible for developing and implementing risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the company's interests while ensuring a positive experience for our customers

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement enterprise risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organization.
• Develop and execute comprehensive risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate fraud -related risks.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
• Lead a team of a high performing team to monitor seller activities, detect fraudulent behavior, and enforce compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Implement data-driven risk assessment models and analytical tools to proactively identify emerging risks and trends.
• Establish and enhance policies and procedures governing fraud  risk management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, legal, compliance, and technology, to develop and enhance risk mitigation solutions and processes.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of accounts, transactions, and activities to ensure adherence to risk management protocols.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in fraud  risk management to inform strategic decision-making and enhance risk mitigation efforts.
• Provide timely and accurate reporting on key risk metrics, trends, and incidents to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize risk management processes, enhance operational efficiency, and support business growth objectives.
• Foster a culture of risk awareness, accountability, and compliance throughout the organization through training, communication, and collaboration.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CRM, CFA) preferred.
• Proven 15+ years’ experience in risk management, preferably in a fintech or financial services environment, with a focus on fraud prevention.
• Proven track record of leadership and team management, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis, risk modeling, and statistical techniques.
• Deep understanding of financial products, payment processing, and regulatory and scheme requirements related to fraud  risk management.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and findings to diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute risk management strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.

The Role:

Flutterwave is seeking a highly skilled and experienced head of  Risk and Compliance Analytics to join our growing team. The selected individual will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing robust analytical products such as risk scoring models,  decisioning strategies and data dashboards to enhance our risk management and compliance processes and optimize business outcomes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee the design, development, and optimization of risk scoring models to assess and predict potential risks and compliance associated with financial transactions.
• Implement performance monitoring mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of risk scoring models and decision strategies, making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement
• Develop and implement decision strategies that balance risk mitigation with business objectives, ensuring efficient and effective decision-making processes
• Provide strategic leadership to the Risk Scoring and Decision team, driving the development and enhancement of risk models and decision strategies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Technology, and Compliance, to integrate risk scoring and decision strategies into business processes and systems
• Ensure that risk scoring models and decision strategies comply with industry regulations and standards, working closely with legal and compliance teams
• Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data that may impact risk assessments and decisions.
• Communicate risk insights, findings, and recommendations to executive leadership and other stakeholders, providing guidance on risk-related matters.
• Build, nurture and develop a high performing team ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
• Ensure compliance with risk management practices through knowledge and understanding of regulatory and partner stakeholder requirements
• Implement Risk and Compliance data dashboards to drive insights and business decisions

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in risk management, fraud  risk modeling, decision sciences, or related fields within the financial services industry.
• Strong proficiency in data science, statistical analysis, quantitative modeling, and programming languages such as Python, SAS, or similar tools.
• Ability to effectively pull and interpret data using strong analytical skills, making informed decisions in a dynamic environment
• Ability to effectively communicate risk insights, findings, and recommendations to various stakeholders and executive leadership
• Expertise to apply strategic thinking to develop and implement risk strategies aligned with organizational goals
• Demonstrate ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously & effectively
