    Short Term Contract – Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Job Purpose:

    The successful candidate will support the delivery of laboratory-based practical instruction for pharmacy students by assisting in the preparation, setup, supervision, and maintenance of pharmaceutical sciences practicals. The role is hands-on and essential in ensuring a safe, effective, and high‑quality laboratory learning environment.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation and setup of pharmaceutical sciences practical sessions, including:
      • Pharmaceutics
      • Pharmaceutical Chemistry
      • Pharmaceutical Microbiology
    • Prepare reagents, solutions, dosage forms, and laboratory materials as required
    • Support students and lecturers during practical sessions
    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, reagents, and laboratory waste
    • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the laboratory environment
    • Maintain laboratory equipment and report faults or shortages promptly
    • Assist with inventory management of laboratory supplies and consumables
    • Adhere to university policies, safety standards, and professional ethics

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Pharmacy Technicians
    • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
    • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya
    • Demonstrable experience working in pharmaceutical laboratories, hospital pharmacies, or manufacturing settings
    • Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and basic laboratory safety
    • Ability to work effectively with students, academic staff, and laboratory personnel

    Adjunct Faculty – Pharmaceutical Marketing

    Job Purpose:

    The successful candidate will report to the Chair of Department, School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The role requires a strong commitment to teaching Bachelor of Pharmacy students, contributing to scholarly research, and providing clinical expertise that enhances student learning, advances pharmacy practice, and supports the University’s mission of world-class education, research, and community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Adjunct faculty to teach the Pharmaceutical Marketing course will contribute to teaching, research, and clinical service, with a primary focus on:

    • Delivering high-quality instruction in pharmaceutical marketing and related courses
    • Supporting student learning through mentorship, supervision, and academic advising
    • Engaging in research and scholarly activities that contribute to pharmacy practice and education
    • Providing clinical expertise to support experiential learning and professional development
    • Promote and uphold the mission and values of USIU–Africa
    • Teach and precept pharmacy students at approved clinical sites
    • Participate in the Skills Laboratory, including physical assessment training
    • Provide Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services at designated clinical sites
    • Coordinate courses and develop instructional and assessment materials
    • Contribute to the planning, administration, and academic activities of the School of Pharmacy
    • Organize and participate in inter-professional education and training initiatives
    • Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to assigned students
    • Contribute to overall student success, including academic performance, progression, and outcomes

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or PharmD from an accredited university
    • Postgraduate Qualifications (at least one of the following)
    • Master of Pharmacy (MPharm); Pharmaceutical Management, Industrial Pharmacy
      • OR a relevant Master’s degree, such as:
    • MBA (Marketing, Strategic Management, Healthcare Management)
    • MSc. in Marketing
    • MSc. in Health Economics / Health Systems / Pharmaceutical Policy
    • A PhD is desirable.

    Professional & Regulatory Requirements

    • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya
    • Meets Commission for University Education (CUE) requirements for adjunct faculty

    Industry & Teaching Experience

    • Demonstrable experience in pharmaceutical marketing, such as:
      • Medical representative / product manager roles
      • Market access, sales strategy, or brand management
      • Regulatory affairs or pharmacoeconomics
    • Prior teaching, guest lecturing, or professional training experience is preferred
    • Practical exposure to:
      • Ethical promotion of medicines
      • Pharmacoeconomics and pricing
      • Market research and product lifecycle management

    Adjunct Faculty (Summer 2026), SHSS

    Job Purpose:

    The successful candidates will report to the Chair of the Department of International Relations and will be expected to deliver high-quality instruction, mentor students, and contribute to the academic mission of the department during the summer session.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver engaging lectures and seminars at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the specific areas of specialization listed above.
    • Design and update curricula to align with emerging events and trends in international relations.
    • Supervise graduate research (projects/theses/dissertations).
    • Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
    • Participate in program assessment and reviews.
    • Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
    • Engage in service to the University, the profession, and the community.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

    To qualify for appointment, an applicant must have:

    • A PhD in International Relations, Political Science, or any other relevant qualification from an accredited and recognized university and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body.
    • At least 3 years of university teaching or industry experience in a relevant field.
    • Skills in the use of digital technology in teaching and learning are an added advantage.

    OR

    • A Master’s degree in related areas from an accredited university
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching and/or industrial experience in the relevant industry;
    • A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed scholarly journal papers
    • Be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification
    • Be registered with the relevant professional body.
