    Technical Assistance Centre (IX-IP) Engineer

    Job Objective:  The TAC (IX-IP) Engineer is responsible for providing 3rd Level technical IP support, resolving escalated incidents, addressing assigned problems, and managing the WIOCC Network. The incumbent will be recognized as the company's Technical IP Support Expert and will act as the primary liaison between the IP Engineering and Operations teams, ensuring seamless integration, communication, and technical alignment across both functions.

    Reporting Line: TAC Manager

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • 24/7 Tier 3 Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) IP Interface: Serving as the final internal escalation point for complex IP network issues
    • Problem Resolution: Providing direct, high-level support to the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and field engineering teams to resolve critical incidents
    • Mentorship & Training: Developing the technical competency of the Operations team through targeted training and ongoing mentorship
    • Technical Stakeholder Consultancy: Delivering expert technical guidance, service management, and pre-sales support to key stakeholders and commercial teams
    • Deputising for the TAC Manager: Factoring in management coverage and assuming leadership responsibilities for the department as required
    • Vendor Management: Managing relationships and performance deliverables with third-party network equipment vendors
    • Network Lifecycle Management: Overseeing the installation, testing, commissioning, integration, and final hand-over of IP networks
    • Performance Optimisation: Utilising network quality and performance management tools to generate ad-hoc reports and insights
    • Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Producing regular IP network performance reports and driving the execution of network improvement plans
    • Project Leadership: Leading cross-departmental initiatives and providing comprehensive project reporting as requested
    • International Mobility: Travelling globally to support business requirements as and when required
    • IP Address Management (IPAM): Managing WIOCC IP address blocks and allocations
    • DCN Support: Maintaining and supporting Data Communication Network (DCN) systems
    • Process Automation: Collaborating with the IT team to automate network performance and operational reporting
    • Knowledge Sharing: Organising and leading quarterly IP technical workshops for the support and operations teams

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
    • Technical certifications in optical networking, JNCIS (essential), JNCIP (desirable) or equivalent 
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Experience and Skills

    • Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ technical experience within the telecommunications industry managing complex IP networks, with at least 4 years ideally spent in Tier 2 technical support or an equivalent high-level role
    • Technical Proficiency: Comprehensive knowledge of transport and routing technologies, including DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, and Core Data networking (IP/MPLS, IS-IS, BGP, L2VPN, and L2circuit)
    • Vendor Expertise: Proven experience supporting transmission and switching equipment from leading global manufacturers, including Juniper, Nokia, Ciena, Infinera, Tejas Networks, and MikroTik
    • Network Monitoring & Diagnostic Tools: Proficient with network monitoring platforms (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds NPM, Cacti, MRTG) and a robust suite of IP troubleshooting utilities
    • Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to effectively share knowledge, train, and mentor junior team members
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of synthesizing and concisely explaining complex technical data to clients
    • Operational Excellence: Adept at utilizing B/OSS (Business and Operations Support Systems) tools to accurately, concisely, and promptly log critical operational data
    • Prioritisation & Problem Solving: Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver robust solutions under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Professional Mindset: Driven, self-motivated, and possesses a strong "take-ownership" attitude toward operational challenges

    Solution Architect

    Job Objective: Provide pre-sales technical support to clients and the sales, bid and commercial teams. Review client needs and design end-to-end optimized technical and commercial solutions. Ensure technical, capacity and inventory feasibility, to meet service level agreements, timescales and budget.

    Reporting Line: Head of Capacity Planning

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Commercial Technical Pre-Sales: Driving the technical sales lifecycle and provisioning pipeline; translating complex customer requirements into scalable digital infrastructure proposals that accelerate time-to-revenue
    • End-to-End Solution Architecture: Design and delivery of high-availability, mission-critical network architectures, producing comprehensive HLDs/LLDs (High-Level/Low-Level Designs) for enterprise and carrier-grade clients
    • Risk Management & Governance: Proactively identifying and mitigating architectural constraints, commercial risks, and delivery bottlenecks to ensure seamless, on-time solution deployment
    • Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management: Translating complex engineering capabilities into clear technical product descriptions, architecture blueprints, and service definitions to support New Product Development (NPD)
    • Engineering Process Standardisation: Establishing and operationalising rigorous design governance and engineering frameworks to streamline solution planning and scale network architecture practices
    • Cross-Functional Ecosystem Alignment: Partnering with Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Finance teams to deliver bespoke, end-to-end solutions with a focus on seamless service assurance, fulfilment, and billing integration
    • Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the solution development lifecycle, significantly reducing design turnaround times and optimizing workflow efficiencies
    • Data Governance & Asset Integrity: Championing data accuracy and integrity across core OSS/BSS platforms and engineering databases to ensure precise network capacity planning and inventory management
    • Technical Articulation & Visualization: Authoring high-impact network schematics, technical topology drawings, and strategic performance insights for executive leadership and stakeholder briefings

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a core engineering, computing, or technical discipline
    • 8+ years of deep-domain experience across the telecommunications and digital infrastructure sectors, including 5+ years dedicated to architecting high-availability, scalable network solutions
    • Proven expertise designing and optimizing critical connectivity frameworks across Subsea networks, Terrestrial Fibre, and Colocation infrastructure
    • Adept at leveraging deep technical knowledge across Transport technologies (DWDM, OTN, SDH) and complex IP routing structures, including Global Peering, IP Transit, and advanced Layer 2/3 Carrier Ethernet services

    Experience and Skills

    • Network Design & Architecture: Proven track record in a network engineering role focused on the design, planning, and development of complex, high-value Transmission or IP connectivity solutions
    • Operational & Pre-Sales Expertise: Expert knowledge across the entire lifecycle of network operations, service delivery, sales support, and infrastructure management
    • Solution Costing & Impact Assessment: Advanced capability in developing comprehensive solution options to accurately identify all operational impacts, dependencies, and capital/operational costs (CAPEX/OPEX) related to recommended designs
    • Product Lifecycle Management: Strong experience with product and technology development lifecycles, including technical product creation, fulfilment, service assurance, and billing integration procedures
    • Market Awareness: Comprehensive knowledge of the competitive telecommunications landscape regarding product and service offerings for enterprise connectivity solutions
    • Geographical Information Systems (GIS): Expert knowledge and practical experience utilizing GIS platforms for network planning and mapping
    • Executive Communication & Presentation: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to synthesise complex technical data, drive clarity, and concisely communicate key project metrics to all levels of the organisation
    • Prioritisation & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, set clear strategic direction, and solve critical problems within fast-paced, high-pressure environments
    • Technical Toolset: Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (including advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Visio for technical diagramming and schematics
    • Operational Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours outside of standard office times to provide dedicated support to international clients and critical incidents
