Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership, planning, and supervision of the laboratory department
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, KMLTTB/MOH regulations, and accreditation requirements
• Oversee test result accuracy, turnaround time, and equipment maintenance
• Manage, mentor, and appraise laboratory staff performance
• Develop and enforce SOPs, safety, and quality assurance protocols
• Manage laboratory budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships
• Liaise with clinicians and hospital management on diagnostic service delivery

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences
• Valid KMLTTB registration/license
• Minimum 5-7 years' laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership/managerial role
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g. ISO 15189) and lab accreditation
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills

• Perform routine and specialised laboratory tests accurately and within set timelines
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment
• Record, verify, and report test results to relevant clinicians
• Maintain laboratory hygiene, safety, and infection control standards Manage stock levels of reagents and laboratory supplies
• Adhere to quality assurance and standard operating procedures

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma/Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
• Valid KMLTTB registration/license
• Minimum 1-2 years' relevant laboratory experience
• Good knowledge of laboratory safety and quality control practices
• Attention to detail, reliability, and strong communication skills
