    Website Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Website strategy, development and maintenance:
    • Contribute to the development of a cutting-edge web communication strategy for the corporate website(s) and child/affiliated sites and pages to ensure these are aligned with the organization's mandate, objectives and brand identity.
    • Manage the development, maintenance and enhancement of the organization's websites and pages, ensuring these remain functional, intuitive, user-friendly and technically efficient.
    • Set compatibility and technical standards that ensure site accessibility for all users, including in languages.
    • Guide web developers, designers and service providers in implementing technical solutions and improvements.
    • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and end-users regarding website functionality, navigation and content management system usage.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues, bugs and errors to ensure smooth operation of the websites.
    • Collaborate with IT support teams or external vendors to address more complex technical challenges, services and subscriptions required and facilitate deployment of new applications.

    Education

    • Advanced University Degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in software engineering, computer science or information systems, communication, public information, or other related fields is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with the two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Job - Specific Qualification

    • Accreditation in a formal project management methodology (e.g. Prince2 or Project Management Institute certification) is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in managing web development and management for a large science-based organization or related organization is required.
    • Experience in managing medium to large-scale technical projects in a multistakeholder environment is required.
    • Experience in content management systems such as Drupal and web content coordination is required.
    • Experience managing a team is desirable.
    • Experience in digital media strategy, transformation and campaigns and other avenues of public information is desirable.
    • Experience in at least one project management tool (e.g. MS project) is desirable.
    • A minimum of two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
    • Experience working with the United Nations or similar international organization is desirable.

    Communication Intern

    Key areas of work:  

    • Enhancing Wastewater, Nutrient Management and Sanitation Provision for Marginalized Coastal Communities in Sabah, Malaysia ;
    • Supporting strategies, capacity and data for global wastewater and environmental surveillance in Africa; and
    • Capacity development project on water quality in the Wider Caribbean Region, including the Gulf of Mexico. Communication and outreach are key components for the success of this project and its areas of work.
    • The main objective of the position of Communications Intern is to support the SSPU in the tasks of the overall communication strategy for the project “Preventing and addressing the degradation of freshwater and marine ecosystems from source to sea”.
    • The Communications Intern is expected to support the project team in the production and use of efficient and strategic communication products and developing awareness raising material on related topics.
    • The Communications Intern/ will operate under the supervision of the wastewater Programme Management Officer (P4) of the SSPU in coordination with the others PMOs of the Unit, under the overall supervision of the Chief of Unit at UNEP, and in collaboration with Communication Officer of the MFB.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
    • Have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and has a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
    • However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

    • Previous work experience is not required, however experience in the field of communications and public relations and experience working with the production of communication products is desirable.

    Finance and Budget Assistant

    Responsibilities

    • Provides support with respect to the review, analyses and preparation of the medium-term plan and its revisions.
    • Prepares supporting documents (narrative and supporting tables) with respect to finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals, in terms of staff and non-staff requirements.
    • Assists managers in the elaboration of resource requirements for budget submissions.
    • Undertakes research and provides support to higher level Finance & Budget Officers with respect to budget reviews of relevant intergovernmental and expert bodies.
    • Monitors expenditures and compares with approved budget; prepares adjustments as necessary. • Reviews requisitions for goods and services to ensure (a) correct objects of expenditure have been charged, and availability of funds.
    • Assists in preparation of budget performance submissions and finalization of budget performance reports, analysing variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures.
    • Monitors integrity of various financial databases. Verifies accuracy of input data, ensuring consistency of data in previous allotments to new allotments issued.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Job - Specific Qualification

    • Supplemental training in accounting, finance or related field are desirable. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate or equivalent is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in finance, budget, accounting or related area is required.
    • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
    • Experience in Global Environment Facility (GEF) project/grant management, budgeting, accounting, and financial management is desirable.
    • Proven experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Systems Applications and Products (SAP) is desirable.
    • One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
