    Technical Officer - Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Description:

    Works as a member of the regional mentorship team under the guidance of theSenior Technical Officer (Care and Treatment). S/He will mentor health service providers onthe pharmaceutical management information system, pharmacovigilance tools and provide policy updates on HIV management including ART.

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide updates to the service providers on the revised ART policies and SOPs.
    • Provide mentorship and coaching on ART adherence preparation of new patients, dispensing medication use and counseling.
    • Provide support supervision on monitoring ART adherence (using multiple approaches).
    • Provide support in counter-checking drug dosages and formulations.

    Qualifications:

    MINUMUM REQUIREMENT STANDARDS:

    • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized Medical Training College with 7-9 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in the same field with 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
    • Basic training on ART, Commodity Management (and preferably TOT).
    • Experience in mentoring and supervision of other pharmacy staffon inventory management, rational use and quantification.
    • The use of the ARV Dispensing tool (ADT) is an added advantage.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in providing support for a busy ART program.

    Senior Technical Officer, Pharmacy

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic management and oversight of the pharmaceutical commodity management system for a national network of the public health project
    • Develop and foster partnerships and collaborative relationships with public sector commodity supply systems and private sector suppliers of essential commodities.
    • Strengthen the logistical arrangements for private providers to access and account for the essential commodities.
    • Monitor the use of the pharmaceutical commodities by the providers in the public health project by providing mentorship and coaching to service providers on inventory management (quantification, requisition, storage, expiry tracking and reporting).
    • Provide updates to service providers on pharmaceutical management information system (PMIS) and the use of current tools

Registered with the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board. In-service update training on TB, malaria and HIV care/ART, Commodity Management (and preferably TOT experience). Continuous use of the ARV Dispensing Tool (ADT). Experience in mentoring and supervision of other pharmacy staff on inventory management, rational use, quantification and pharmacovigilance. Demonstrated management of a commodity management system to support a busy clinical program. Experience working with the private sector (NGO/FBO/Private for Profit) is an added advantage.

    Data Manager

    Technical Officer - Care and Treatment

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide strategic direction in care and treatment program in liaison with the Senior Technical Officer
    • Provide mentorship, coaching and updates to program clinical mentors and service providers at the CC/ART to offer patients quality care and treatment services according to the national guidelines and standards.
    • Support the service providers by recommending relevant treatment and care for the patients with opportunistic infections and recommend initiation of ART treatment in accordance with the MOH recommended guidelines.
    • Liaise with other project staff working in the community to address issues of defaulter tracing, HIV prevention and addressing other social determinants of health to mitigate the impact of those affected and infected by HIV.
    • Coordinate and provide needed programmatic support to ensure the health facilities with high patient workloads and poor performing sites in terms of initiating patients on treatment are mentored and the necessary skills and confidence is transferred to the clinicians.
    • Support facilities to institute systems for inter and intra facility referrals.
    • Ensure quality of care is attained for patients seeking the services.
    • Ensure the documentation of appropriate services rendered to the patients is done in the relevant service registers.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY :

    • Knowledge of HIV and AIDS, reproductive health, family planning, public health.
    • Ability to provide a wide range of clinical services and capable of effectively transference of skills, effective communication.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer software skills for word processing.
    • Ability to work independently with initiative to manage high volume workload.
    • Ability to lead and work in teams to accomplish given tasks.

    Qualifications:

    MSc/MPH with 3-5years relevant working experience; Medical degree preferred. Trained in HIV management, care and treatment. Additional training in both pediatric and adult rational ART use is an added advantage. At least 2 years’ experience working in a health facility offering HIV Comprehensive care and treatment. Demonstrable knowledge of HIV knowledge and the various interventions being offered to prevent and control the morbidity and mortality arising from the infection will be an added advantage.

    Senior Technical Officer, Care & Treatment

    Qualifications:

    HIV/AIDS/RH program management experience. Medical doctor with MPH preferable. Working experience of at least 7-9 years and at least two years treating patients with HIV/AIDS. Experience in the providing care and treatment and use of ARV drugs is an added advantage. Familiarity with decentralized public health systems.Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite.

    Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Management of project data bases in the field office.
    • Assist in coordination of monitoring and evaluation activities of the public health project in Kenya at district level, focusing specifically on capacity building of partners on systems for collecting data for measuring project implementation.
    • Under M&E Specialist’s guidance, offer technical assistance to implementing partners to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans.

    • Coordinate collection of public health project in Kenya program activities data to ensure it is complete and timely.
    • Coordinate routine data quality assessments within respective regions.

    Senior Technical Officer, Laboratory

    Description:

    The Senior Technical Officer (STO), Laboratory Technical Specialist will provide laboratory support and guidance to staff and partners for a public health project in Kenya. S/he will implement and monitor laboratory systems strengthening initiatives according to international standards, funder and Government of Kenya requirements. S/he will implement a laboratory capacity building and networking strategy and support laboratory training, mentorship, technical assistance, and quality assurance activities to build the capacity of facility staff, government counterparts and local partners in supported laboratory facilities. The STO may be required to support the development and adoption of laboratory procedures and manuals and train staff in their use. S/he will also evaluate programmatic effectiveness and provide laboratory technical assessment reports to include corrective actions and capacity building plans.

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    • Manage and coordinate the implementation of laboratory systems capacity building and networking strategies and activities for the project.
    • Supervise, provide guidance, and mentor relevant project staff.
    • Support the preparation and delivery of trainings to laboratory staff (including general laboratory technician training and laboratory supervisor training) and training-related services.
    • Provide technical assistance, mentorship, coaching and/or on-the-job training to facility-based laboratory staff, government counterparts, and others as needed and requested as part of overall capacity building and continuous quality improvement efforts.

    • Contribute to the review and finalization of the progress reports for the funder and other program deliverables as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree in biological science or laboratory sciences within a clinical or diagnostic discipline with a Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with 7-9 years of related work experience within a clinical or research laboratory, including experience with laboratory quality control and quality assurance systems and implementation;ORMaster’s degree with 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
    • Ability and aptitude to provide laboratory accreditation mentorship services and to perform quality assurance assessments against accepted national and international standards and regulations.
    • Direct experience developing and delivering trainings in laboratory sciences.
    • Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite.
    • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
    • Good in both written and spoken English and report writing.
    • Supervisory experience is an added advantage.
    • Experience with US government-funded programs is a plus.

    Technical Officer - Laboratory Technologist

    Description:

    Provides laboratory mentorship with technical assistance, capacity building, training, and quality assurance services. In addition, prepares laboratory procedures and manuals and trains staff in their use. Prepares reports and supports the follow-up of technical assistance and assessment visits to include corrective actions and capacity building initiatives to medical laboratories serving the public health project.

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    Working closely with Laboratory Specialist as well as regional multidisciplinary mentorship teams and capacity laboratory in providing technical assistance to ensure and enhance the quality of laboratory services. Specifically, the key responsibilities are:

    • Work closely with facility based laboratory staff to provide laboratory technical assistance as needed and requested as part of overall mentorship improvement schemes.
    • Provide mentorship and coaching of laboratory staff in the respective regions to include OJT and support supervision.
    • In close collaboration with laboratory management support the follow-up of needed corrective and preventive actions.
    • Assist laboratories and capacity laboratory hire with development of routine SOP development and internal quality control interpretation/EQA.
    • Support selected laboratories with preparation towards the implementation of ISO15189/WHO-AFRO accreditation process.
    • Provide laboratory improvement report of all the laboratories within his/her allocated region within the agreed time period.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY :

    • Working knowledge of laboratory ISO 15189/WHO AFRO implementation
    • Proven capability and direct experience in clinical and research laboratory functions and services, including in resource constrained settings.
    • Resourceful and creative thinker with the ability to develop simple and efficient solutions and recommendations.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly diplomacy.
    • Good in both written and spoken English and report writing.
    • Direct experience developing and delivering trainings in laboratory sciences.
    • Experience in an accredited lab or a lab undergoing accreditation will be an added advantage

    Qualifications:

    BS/BA in relevant field with 5-7 years or Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with at least 7-9 years related work experience within a clinical or research laboratory including experience with laboratory quality control and quality assurance systems and implementation; Supervisory experience is preferred. Ability and aptitude to provide laboratory accreditation mentorship services and to perform quality assurance assessments against accepted national and international standards and regulations.
