    5. Receiving students’ disciplinary cases and processing them in consultation with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics and Students Affairs) for the Students Disciplinary Committee.
    6. Supervising and coordinating all students’ publications and newspapers, maintaining a communication link (dialogue) between the University administration and the students through their organization.
    7. Helping in clearing students leaving/entering the country to/from other countries in conjunction with the Ministry of Education.

    9. Keeping in safe custody all KIBUSO equipment and maintaining records for them.

    Finance Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Finance Officer shall be a Member/Secretary of the Finance and Accounts Committee. He shall be present in the proceedings of the Management on matters which have financial implications.
    The Finance Officer shall maintain minutes of the meetings of Finance and Accounts Committee and the committees appointed by the Finance and Accounts Committee.
    The Finance and Accounts Officer shall be responsible for presenting the annual budget, statement of accounts and audit reports, to the Finance and Accounts Committee and to Management.
    Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development AFD), the incumbent shall:

    1. Exercise general supervision over the funds of the University, and shall advise the Deputy Vice Chancellor (AFD) and the Vice-Chancellor as regards the finances of the University;
    2. Hold and manage the funds, property and investments, including trust and endowed property, for furthering any of the objects of the University;
    3. Ensure that the limits fixed by the University for recurring and non-recurring expenditure for a year are not exceeded, and that all allocations are expended for the purposes for which they are granted or allotted;
    4. Oversee the state of the cash and bank balance and of investments;
    5. Oversee the progress of collection of revenue and advise the Deputy Vice Chancellor (AFD) and the Vice- Chancellor on the methods to be employed for collection;
    6. Have the accounts of the University audited regularly and as per the provisions of the Law;
    7. Ensure that registers of buildings, land, equipment and machinery are maintained up-to-date and that the stock taking of equipment and other consumable materials in all offices, constituent colleges, workshops and stores of the University is conducted regularly;
    8. Propose to the Vice-Chancellor that explanation be called for unauthorized expenditure or other financial irregularities from any member of the University;
    9. Propose to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (AFD) that explanation be called from any non-academic member for unauthorized expenditure or irregularities in any particular case, for any information and returns that he/she thinks necessary for the proper discharge of his/her financial responsibilities; and
    10. Exercise such other powers, perform such other official duties, and discharge such other financial functions as are assigned to him by the Vice-Chancellor or as prescribed by the Law.

    4. Ensuring smooth and efficient operations of the Personnel, Central and Blue Registries.
    5. Ensuring safe custody and maintenance personnel and other records.
    6. Ensuring industrial peace in the University by helping in collective bargaining, joint consultations and settlement of disputes;
    7. Ensuring processing of staff engagement/disengagement is done in accordance with the approved policies.

    NB:

    • Those with qualifications from outside East Africa’s chartered universities
    • MUST show evidence of their qualifications recognition and equation by the Commission of University Education (CUE).
    • Successful applicants for teaching positions will be expected to teach at undergraduate level, initiate and direct relevant research projects and participate in the implementation of University extension services as well as departmental and field activities. 

    Note that:

    (i) All the applicants for any of the advertised positions should be computer literate.
    (ii) Persons of either gender or disability who meet the requirements for the above positions are encouraged to apply.

    Method of Application

    Interested and suitably qualified individuals should submit their applications enclosing relevant identification, academic and professional certificates, detailed and updated curriculum vitae Testimonials, and other relevant supporting documents with day time telephone contact in ten (10) copies each to the Vice Chancellor as shown below. They should also give three (3) referees one of whom must be their present Supervisor/Head of Department. Applicants are to clearly indicate the advert reference number on the envelop.
    They are also advised to request their referees to write letters of reference directly to the address below to be received by the deadline. Those wishing to apply may submit their application to the office of the Vice Chancellor personally or post to the address below and also submit application through email to the address indicated below so as to reach him not later than 31st January, 2017 by 5 pm.
    For positions of Registrars, Finance Officer, Dean of Students and Librarian, applicants must also submit the following:

    1. Clearance from Kenya Revenue Authority
    2. Clearance from Higher Education Loans Council
    3. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
    4. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau
    5. Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct)
    6. Letters of recommendation from at least three persons familiar with the applicant’s professional experience and character in general should also be sent to the address below before 31st January, 2017 by 5 pm.

    All applications shall clearly be marked with the Reference Number of the Advertised position “Application for the position of (position applied for)”and submitted as follows:

    • Ten (10) hard copies
    • An electronic copy in PDF format be sent to the Vice Chancellor by email: vc@kibabiiuniversity.ac.ke for applicants interested in positions advertised at scale 15.
