  • Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
     

    Senior Admin Officer

     

    Vacancy No: CGHR/06/01/17
    Reports to: Malaria Branch Chief
    LOCATION: Kisumu

    This program is a collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK whose remit is to conduct research in Malaria. The program wishes to recruit for the following positions:-

    Senior Admin Officer Job Responsibilities

    • Budgeting, tracking expenditure and preparation of timely reports for submission to PIs, partners and donors
    • Liaising with relevant departments for timely procurement and delivery of project supplies
    • Liaising with HR on hiring and orientation of project staff
    • Coordinating branch administrative functions
    • Coordinating branch meetings and taking minutes
    • Facilitate processing of travel requisitions
    • Coordinating visitors to the branch and liaising with relevant departments for clearance, work permits, hotel reservations, ground transportation and office space
    • Undertake other duties as may be assigned

    Qualifications for the Senior Admin Officer Job

    • Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Business, Finance, Accounting or closely related areas.

    Admin Assistant

    LOCATION: Kisian

    This program is a collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK whose remit is to conduct research in Malaria. The program wishes to recruit for the following positions:-

    Responsibilities for the Admin Assistant Job

    • Proper management of petty cash/imprest funds and facilitates request and receipt surrenders.
    • Making orders for clinical, laboratory and logistical study supplies and equipment using the appropriate methods
    • Keeping and tracking staff time sheets and leave schedule
    • Booking for facilities used for training, meetings, TC
    • Writing minutes during meetings
    • Keeping records of all inventories dispatched to the field
    • Ensuring that all field-based facilities have adequate supplies
    • Booking travel and raising per diems
    • Ensure timely production and delivery of project requests.
    • Undertake other duties as may be assigned

    Assistant Job Qualifications

    • A Diploma in Business Management, Business Administration or equivalent
    • Minimum 1 years’ experience in Business, Finance, Accounting or closely related areas

    Assistant Director HR

     

    Responsibilities for the Assistant Director HR Job

    • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate human resource strategies, policies, rules and regulations for operational management and development, to meet agreed organizational performance goals and objectives
    • Develop and implement processes to ensure consistency in institutional design, staffing strategies and talent management
    • Oversee and coordinate all human resource management activities including preparation of HR budget, recruitment and selection, placement, promotion, career management, training and development, staff welfare, discipline, salary and remuneration management, capacity building and performance management
    • Ensure the development of an organizational culture that reflects the Institute’s values, promotes accountability and high performance
    • Develop and implement employee relation practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee participation and involvement to achieve optimal labour productivity, industrial harmony and good Institutional image
    • Implement grievance management and disciplinary proceedings involving any staff member and recommend appropriate action to resolve disputes
    • Oversee and manage performance appraisal and management systems that drive high productivity;

    Assistant Director HR Job Requirements

    • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with a Human Resource Management option; OR
    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree and a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized Institution;
    • A Masters Degree in Human Resource Management/Development, Business Administration (with a HR Option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    • Served in a large organization in a strategic leadership position for not less than 10 continuous years seven (7) of which must have been in a Senior Human Resource Management position
    • Attended a leadership training course lasting not less than six (6) weeks
    • Full Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)
    • A valid Practicing License from IHRM;
