    Duties and responsibilities

    • Provide technical leadership to divisions reporting to her/him
    • Advise the chief officer health regularly on critical and emerging health issues in Garissa county
    • Evaluate the quality of public health practices in professional disciplines through the advancement of appropriate standards and research priorities within Garissa county.
    • Create an environment in which research and development, public protection and patient safety shall flourish to meet the challenges facing health care in Garissa County.
    • Protection and advance the health of the county through educating the public, advocating for effective disease prevention, carrying out health promotion programs and activities,    curative and rehabilitation health, and providing a highly recognized symbol of national commitment to protecting and improving the health to public.
    • Identify critical areas in need of improvement within the county’s health system.
    • Meet and collaborate with numerous groups for the purpose of improving operations of the ministry of health Garissa County.
    • Work with wide civil society, private, private sector and international community in fostering improved health services in Garissa County.
    • Oversee work with staff to monitor and analyze health risks.
    • Ensure enforcement of the public health regulations and laws.

    Qualifications

    • Must have master’s degree in health management discipline.
    • Registered with the relevant professional board.
    • At least 10 years of experience of which at least 5 years in a senior management position in the health sector.
    • Meets the requirements of chapter 6 of the constitution.
    • Must be a current employee of Garissa county government.
    • Evidence of successful change management in his/her current position.
    • Kenyan citizen.
    • Mature person with proven integrity, initiative and drove.
    • Good interpersonal, facilitation and clinical training skills.
    • Ability to think strategically with creative problem solving skills.
    • Must have practical experience in health research.
    • Must have in depth understanding of the devolution process.
