    Administration Assistant

    Reporting to the Administration Officer the Administration Assistant will be responsible for NRC’s reception area and for giving administrative support at the Nairobi office. This is a temporary post for a period of six months.

    Job description

    • Welcome visitors to the NRC office, and direct them accordingly
    • Adhere to NRC policies and procedures
    • Receive incoming calls and make outgoing calls according to needs
    • Ensure order and cleanliness of the reception area
    • Receive, distribute and register faxes, mails, documents and reports
    • File administrative documents according to procedures
    • Arrange for staff and visitors, flight bookings, transport and accommodations
    • Make appointments and keep itineraries for the Regional and Country Director and NRC visitors when required;
    • Implement NRC Terms and Conditions of service, policies, and procedures.
    • Receive and record all incoming deliveries (correspondences) and liaise with the appropriate members of staff for the delivery and distribute letters into respective pigeon holes or offices Occasionally assist in the preparation of large mail shots and preparation of materials for events
    • Assist in any administrative matters: filing, typing, updating of contact lists.
    • Receive and reconcile all flight and accommodation invoices
    • Filling in for the Executive Assistant when needed.
    • Fulfil any other related duties as instructed.
    • Sit in for the Admin Officer when absent or on leave

    ALP Teacher

    Job description

    • Deliver lessons and organize learning activity sessions in the subject of specialization.
    • Together with the senior ALP teachers, prepare the learning scheme of work and required lesson plans
    • Keep records of student’ attendance, progress and assessment.
    • Prepare and administer continuous assessment tests and internal examinations to assess learners’ progress and knowledge assimilation
    • Together the senior ALP teachers submit evaluations, attendance sheets and monthly reports to the Center leader.
    • Ensure availability of all the necessary teaching aids and materials in liaison with the senior ALP teachers
    • Remain up to date on pedagogical methods and ensure a child-friendly environment where each child's need are identified and addressed.
    • Monitor and support each learner and inform students of their progress.
    • Maintain good communications with parents concerning the progress of their children.
    • Any other duties that may be given by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Have five years of teaching experience in Primary School
    • Hold P1 Certificate/Education or recognized two-year Diploma in two of the following subjects: English, Kiswahili, Somali, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies or Islamic or Christian Religious Education. (Note the selected candidates will over all teaching subjects apart from language and religious studies).
    • High level of personal integrity, cultural awareness & sensitivity.
    • High standard of English methodology including oral skills and teaching English to speakers of other languages.

    Liaison Officer

    Job description

    • Ensure proper implementation of the safety and security policies, procedures, processes and guidelines including evacuation, security audit, drills etc.
    • Identify safety and security needs for NRC Mandera compounds and premises and ensure the availability of adequate lighting, equipment and other resources.
    • Train staff on safety and security, making sure that all staff members are familiar with organizational contingency plans regarding incident response.
    • Provide all staff with regular safety and security briefings and updates, and ensure that all staff adheres to security policies and procedures.
    • With the help of Safety & Security Coordinator conduct Security Risk Assessment for NRC Mandera operational areas.
    • Organize and facilitate staff evacuation in emergency situations or staff in critical medical conditions.
    • Liaise with UN agencies, NGOs and other external actors to gain security information.
    • Ensure vehicle and staff movement are monitored through structured radio checks and contacts with the office and vehicles.
    • Ensure that all communication, security and fleet assets are recorded and assets inventory list is updated, among other procedures.
    • Ensure all the necessary safety and security equipments are available and in good condition.
    • Supervise/training NRC guards and develop weekly/monthly duty roster
    • Organize/facilitate meeting /appointment setting with security agencies when the need for arise
    • Any other duties assigned by the Head of Office.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a security Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
    • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
    • Fluency in English and , both written and verbal( mandatory)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • • Geographical knowledge and understanding of Mandera county political, cultural and clan dynamic
