    Grants Accountant

    This position is critical to the finance department of the organization. The grant accountant is the primary point of contact when it comes to providing technical support in Grant Accounting and ensuring compliance to Grants regulations and relevant financial policies.

    This individual will provide support to various projects including budgeting, reporting and risk management, ensuring that terms and conditions of the grants are met. The candidate will have good collaboration and analysis skills.

    Grants Accountant Job Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting and Accountability

    • Prepare Grants financial reports in accordance with donor requirements and ensure timeliness and accuracy
    • Generate Financial analysis on grant financial Information that will provide management with information for decision making.
    • Provide timely response and feedback on grant financial Issues
    • Provide leading role in ensuring Labor Distribution reports/Timesheets are prepared every month by relevant staff
    • Update grants profile in order to monitor project life and grant budgets.
    • Discuss with project managers grant reports and tackle any outstanding issues in a timely manner
    • Prepare monthly reports to the Line Manager

    Qualifications of the Grants Accountant Job

    • Educational level required Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field
    • The holder should be CPA part 111 or equivalent,
    • Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a NGO. Experience should include proposal budget development, Reporting and post award management
    • Detailed knowledge of USAID regulations (2 CFR 200) and EU regulations
    • Experience in sub-grantee management and capacity building
    • A good understanding of the full cycle of a grant
    • Understanding of US GAAP
    • Advanced excel and analytical skills (Dashboard reporting, Power BI)
    • Computer software skills like sun systems is highly preferred
    • Knowledge of the Somalia context is an added advantage

    Contracting & Grants Manager

    The Contracting Officer/Grants Manager will provide oversight on technical, legal, financial, and administrative components of grant management.

    S/He will work in collaboration with other functional units for effective grants and contracts management of Kenya Feed the Future Crop and Dairy Market Systems Program.

    Contracting Officer & Grants Manager Job Responsibilities

    Grants Management

    • Provide guidance on the implementation of grants programs, including closure and disposition plans
    • Work with technical managers to coordinate the identification and selection process of eligible sub-contractors
    • Provide procedures and policy guidance and interpretation for program staff as well as subcontractors and grantees
    • Develop and approve memoranda of understanding, teaming agreements, awards and sub-awards, and seek approval letters. This also includes providing expert guidance to the program teams.
    • Lead the solicitation, disbursement, management, and closeout processes for local sub-grantees and contractors
    • Review all grant/procurement activities for compliance with program policies and USG regulations and ensure proper documentation
    • Coordinate review and negotiation of awards, including budget, payment provisions, reporting requirements and general terms and conditions.
    • Coordinate and oversee launch of new awards, scheduling internal start-up meetings and stakeholder’s meetings to ensure a common understanding of all the elements of compliance.
    • Provide advice on contracting and procurement issues
    • Keep updated on new donor regulations and lead in their integration

    Qualifications for the Contracting Officer & Grants Manager Job

    • Master’s Degree in business administration/development, grants/contracts management, finance, public administration or related field
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience of successful contracting, administration and grants management
    • Technical expertise in Grants and Contracts Management is an added advantage
    • Experience on projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries.
    • Preferred experience in USAID grants design and administration, management
    • Familiarity with USAID Contract Management and Grants Management policies and procedures
    • Excellent report writing, analytical and communication skills, including oral presentation skills, knowledge management and dissemination of research findings (in English).

    Project Officer

    To ensure the project meets programmatic objectives; successful implementation and monitoring of preventing HIV through protecting adolescents from violence, abuse and exploitation with effective integration aimed at contributing to improved child wellbeing outcomes within Migori County.

    Project Officer Job Major Responsibilities

    Project Planning & Implementation

    • Ensure identification of local needs and resources
    • Contextualize/adopt design guidelines and utilize at the Program Area/Project level
    • Ensure accurate and quality project programming based on the partnership approved Health and child protection standards.
    • Provide effective, innovative and technical leadership in child protection
    • Develop quality project Annual work plans with clear targets, budgets and 4D matrices
    • Mobilize Communities and partners (Health, Education, Children department, Interior and National coordination, police service, Youth and gender) for project implementation
    • Provide field-level technical implementation leadership on preventing HIV and child abuse
    • Ensure proper and timely implementation of HIV and child protection interventions in the ADP/Project as per approved Work plan, budget and donor requirements
    • Ensure effective integration of the project interventions with other ongoing program interventions.
    • Track, in liaison with ADP/Project Accountant, project implementation expenditure levels and manage work plans and budgets;
    • Timely Mobilization and effective communication with communities and stakeholders during baselines and evaluations
    • Ensure effective integration of gender, disability, Christian commitment, and advocacy into the Project Interventions.
    • Ensure participation in County and sub county level partnerships with NGOs and other actors working on HIV and Child Protection to influence Policies on adolescents Health agenda

    Qualifications for the Project Officer Job

    • Minimum of Bachelor degree in Public/Community/Environmental Health, Nursing or other health related field.
    • Minimum two years working experience in Health, HIV, and Child Protection interventions.
    • Good understanding of HIV and child Protection programming models, standards and guidelines in strong partnership with GoK ministries and Churches at the sub county and county levels.
    • Significant experience working with an NGO, communities, state institutions and other partners.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills and proficient in English and Swahili.
    • Computer literate

    M & E Specialist

    We are seeking a highly competent and outstanding individual to fill the position of Monitoring & Evaluation and Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (M & E and CLA) Specialist for an upcoming opportunity, Feed the Future Crop and Diary Market Systems Program whose aim is to advance the objectives of Global Food Security Strategy.

    M & E Specialist Job Responsibilities

    Technical Leadership and Support

    • Develop and update framework for grant M & E and CLA in accordance to the grant design document and donor requirements.
    • Ensure that the project’s interventions are effectively supported in terms of the assessment, design, implementation, baseline, monitoring, evaluation, transition, learning and documentation.
    • Participate in development of the annual work plan and budgets, ensuring alignment with technical approach and Technical program.
    • Take lead in conducting periodic peer reviews to check for alignment and compliance to USAID and WV Partnership standards.
    • Ensure that Sub grantees demonstrate required M & E capacity and produce quality M & E reports.
    • Ensure that core information for grant management, partners, and funding agencies is available.
    • Identify the requirement for collecting baseline data, prepare terms-of-reference for and arrange the conducting of a baseline survey, as required.
    • Clarify and facilitate process for monitoring and evaluations of sub-grantees.
    • Oversee and execute M & E and CLA activities with particular focus on results and impacts as well as lesson learnt.
    • Conduct readiness assessment: the incentives at the system level, the beneficiaries and existing capacity.
    • Identify the need and draw up the Terms of References for specific studies; procure, guide and supervise consultants or organizations that are contracted to implement special surveys and studies required for evaluating grant effects and impacts.
    • Ensure timely communication of M & E findings at all levels.
    • Actively support the inclusion of monitoring and evaluation tools with gender indicators and for monitoring for negative impacts/unintended consequences.

    Qualifications for the M & E Specialist Job

    • A Master’s Degree in relevant field
    • A minimum of 7 years of practical experience in managing performance monitoring plans, evaluation, collaboration and learning, and measuring systemic change
    • Demonstrated practical experience in using monitoring, evaluation and learning activities to inform activity implementation and results
    • Technical expertise in a field related to gender-sensitive monitoring, evaluation, knowledge management, and learning
    • Experience in strengthening local organizations and building local capacities for self-management
    • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and familiarity with Feed the Future project will be an added advantage
    • Familiarity with using the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI) is an added advantage
    • Excellent report writing, analytical and communication skills, including oral presentation skills, knowledge management and dissemination of research findings (in English).
