    Tax Specialist

    Job Purpose

    Responsible for providing support to the business at the group level, the role holder will be responsible for to ensuring that all subsidiaries are compliance on all tax matters while strategically offering tax advise that will guide best business decisions.

        Key Responsibilities
        • Ensuring tax compliance for the subsidiaries - filing the tax returns by the due date and paying the taxes by the due date
        • Implement new tax requirements in the subsidiaries, ensure proper accounting and mapping of the taxes
        • Calculation of the corporate tax and deferred tax on a monthly/quarterly basis;
        • Reconciliation of the tax GLs
        • Tax assurance on all lines subject to tax to ensure accuracy and completeness
        • Reviewing tax exposure points on an ongoing basis through regular compliance checks for the subsidiaries
        • Facilitate smooth flow of all tax audits conducted by the revenue authority as well as the external auditors/consultants;
        • Create tax awareness across the subsidiaries;
        • Improving the tax payment process by ensuring all taxes are accounted and paid on time; and
        • Maintain legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting and implementing new or revised tax laws

    Key Critical Competencies, Skills and attributes

      • Knowledge of tax accounting and tax laws in Kenya
      • Good Knowledge of general accounting principle and practices
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills
      • Great customer focus skills and attention to details
      • Ability to work with diverse teams and to adapt to fast changing environment
      • Team player with good interpersonal and self-management and organization skills
      • Demonstrated ability to resolve tax disputes

    Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
      • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar or related role
      • CPA III Finalist / ACCA qualifications will be an added advantage
      • Experience in tax or a tax experience in an audit firm will be an added advantage
      • Good Knowledge of filling tax returns and experience liaising with tax authorities

    Tax Advisor

    Job Purpose

      Job Purpose: Responsible for providing tax advice to the group, the role holder will be expected to devise tax-efficient strategies to ensure that the various business streams make best business decisions.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Research and analysis of tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliate

    • Implements tax strategies

    • Provides advice about taxation legislation

    • Helping businesses and individuals create strategies for dealing with tax and prepare for their future in the banking industry

    • Advising and consulting with subsidiaries and departments in order to provide advice about tax legislation, e.g. ensuring businesses and assets are properly structured to minimize the incidence of taxation

    • Advising on employee incentivisation schemes, e.g. share options, share ownership trusts, tax-efficient employee benefits and the creation of employee benefit trusts

    • Advising on aspects of corporate transactions, agreements, contracts, procurement, partnerships, acquisitions, and the use of tax-efficient structures in deals, including the effective use of partnerships and co-ownership structures

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
    • CPA (K) / ACCA from a reputable institution
    • A master degree or MBA will be a requirement
    • At least 5 - 7 years of experience in a similar or related role
    • Experience in tax or audit firms will be an added advantage
    • Good Knowledge of filling tax returns and experience liaising with tax authorities
