    Business Development Executive

    The Business Development Executive is to lead the new business acquisition effort of the personal lines department. To develop new personal business segment by following set policies and procedures throughout the whole insurance cycle to ensure growth of the personal lines business by achieving set targets while maintaining high customer service standards and building Canopy’s reputation as the “insurance broker of choice” for personal lines.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Execute canopy’s marketing strategy for personal lines.
    • Develop and implement profitable and cost effective products /services.
    • Receive and handle in a courteous and professional manner, all personal lines clients insurance queries, accurately analysing client needs, risks and tailoring appropriate insurance covers.
    • Coordinate with underwriters for competitive quotations on various risks
    • Liaise with specialists, such as surveyors, assessors for risk assessment;
    • Enter into an understanding (binder) with underwriters.
    • Visit and negotiate with clients and draw up insurance cover contracts.
    • Develop and maintain professional relationships with Canopy insurance partners.
    • Work as a team with other staff to achieve set targets, contribute innovative ideas to improve ways of working and customer satisfaction and market share intelligence
    • Ensure compliance with the company’s credit policy.

    Requirements 

    • A university degree in business or related discipline.
    • A professional qualification in insurance (AIIK, ACII or Equivalent)
    • At least 3 years working experience in insurance, 2 of which should be in marketing.
    • A marketing qualification or working towards it.

    Tender Marketers

    Operate Canopy’s Tender line business segment following set policies and procedures throughout the whole insurance cycle to ensure growth of the business segment by achieving set targets while maintaining high customer service standards and building Canopy’s reputation as the “Insurance Broker Of Choice”

    Duties

    • Purchase of tenders in good time.
    • Assist in obtaining Quotations, analyzing, preparation for purposes of presentation.
    • Preparation of tender documents accurately and on time.
    • Receive and handle in a courteous and professional manner, all client insurance queries, accurately analyzing client needs, risks and tailoring appropriate insurance covers.
    • Coordinate with underwriters to incorporate changes to insurance policies and ensure the appropriate endorsements are done.
    • Ensures additional premiums and refunds are done liaising with specialists, such as surveyors or doctors, for risk assessment;
    • Gathering information on coming up tenders and competition.
    • negotiating with customers and drawing up insurance cover contracts;
    • writing insurance cover risk notes and policies
    • Ensure client details and insurance transaction is logged into TRAIC
    • daily management of insurance requirements for clients, including policy changes and
    • adjustments while building clients’ confidence in Canopy’s capability to understand and meet all their insurance needs
    • notify clients of need for renewal of their insurance covers, proactively conduct renewal and adjustment negotiations
    • always ensure “best practice” customer service standards,
    • Contribute to growing Tender line customer base by prospecting for new business on the
    • phone through referrals from existing customers.
    • participate in scheduled customer maintenance and sales visits
    • develop and maintain professional relationships with Canopy insurance partners
    • continuously update and develop your knowledge and understanding of the insurance market and
    • work as a team with other Insurance Advisers to achieve set targets, contribute innovative ideas to improve ways of working and customer satisfaction

    Competencies:

    • Honest and trustworthy with an ethical approach to renewal relationships and business dealings;
    • Insurance technical skills, knowledge of the insurance industry and insurance products, able to analyze client needs, suggest insurance products and successfully sale them to clients.
    • Good communicator, orally and in writing, able to explain insurance solutions to laypeople, gaining their confidence and trust.
    • Excellent customer service skills, able to empathize with clients
    • Able to work without close supervision achieving set targets
    • Good sales skills and orientation, able to consistently achieve set sales targets
    • Able to work with other staff as a team, contributing to achieving the teams targets
    • Confident and socially astute, able to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and Insurance Underwriters.
    • Demonstrate passion for the Company and enthusiasm.

    Job Qualifications

    • University degree
    • COP and / or working towards ACII certification
    • Some Exposure in the Insurance Industry for a minimum of 4 years.
    • Computer skills training
    • Telephone selling skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
