    Access Transport Planning Engineer

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Network Engineering Department within the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Manager-Access Transport Rollout, the role holder is tasked with the modeling, planning, design and optimization of reliable transmission systems /networks in support of fixed services (enterprise and consumer) and mobile services back haul requirements.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Delivery of timely and quality Transmission Solutions on Fiber, Microwave, Vsat, IPRAN DWDM, GPON etc.
    • Plans within the project schedule and with the correct constraints (capacity thresholds, reliability etc.).
    • Compilation of topology maps, schematics, Google route, building entry points & floor plans in GIS formats.
    • Optimal Transmission design and implementation plans that saves on CAPEX and NOPEX requirements.
    • Maintain Accurate Transmission routing plans meeting the service descriptions such as reliability and Redundancy.
    • Review of BOQs against the designs for Fiber (FTTB, FTTS), Microwave, IPRAN, GPON, and DWDM Projects.
    • Supplier Management, Analysis of Subcontractors quotations & contracts and Process management with SLA setting with Supplier, Subcontractors and other 3rd parties.
    • Monitoring capacity threshold per route in line with set KPIs (70%) booking on Links, fiber cores and Ducts.
    • Ensure reliability of planned design to achieve accurate, timely and economical plans e.g. performance of link against link design specs once built.
    • Ensuring accurate, up-to date database documentation on network planning, design, implementation in addition to capacity planning, Routings, RFIs and fiber core provisioning In TIBCO,Cell base, Map info, atoll, NQMS, OSP Insight etc.
    • Schedule periodical audit function of on-ground data against database.
    • Follow proper process with Regulators and Government Authorities and ensure accurate records are maintained for Spectrum usage with CA, permits and Way leaves from KehNA, KURA, KRC, County etc.
    • Evaluate Reliability and cost effectiveness of trials introduced in the network and their ability to keep up with emerging technologies.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering or related field.
    • IP Certification e.g. CCNA, CCNP or CCIE
    • Minimum of 6 years’ experience with 2 years specialized role in a busy telecommunications environment–Involved in Strategy Modeling, Planning, Design and Optimization of reliable transmission systems /networks.
    • Knowledge in transport/data communication planning design and optimization tools.

    Product Manager MPESA

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the M-PESA Product Development Department within the Financial Services Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, MPESA Product Management, the product manager will be responsible for identifying potential M-PESA products and services, conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining specifications, pricing, and go to market planning for assigned M-PESA products and services.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Determine M-PESA customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
    • Articulate market requirements ,consumer trends and opportunities for M-PESA products and services
    • Identify opportunities for M-PESA products and services innovation and enhancements
    • Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s product to competitors’ products within payments and financial services industry.
    • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future M-PESA products and services by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product changes.
    • Bring new M-PESA products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs.
    • Define the long term strategy of M-PESA and create product road map
    • Prepare M-PESA products and services documents including Market Requirement documents and product use cases to drive product activity
    • Develop pricing strategies and product policies
    • Provide technical & thought leadership throughout various stages of solution lifecycle – planning, design, specification, implementation and launch
    • Create user cases and detailed product roadmap documents to articulate desired features and functionalities to Developers and Designers
    • Manage M-PESA products-related support, feedback and inquiries from users
    • Co-ordinate market research to track customer and end-user feedback
    • use market feedback to inform M-PESA product refinements and ongoing development
    • Build awareness and understanding of your across the company – be M-PESA products and services ‘evangelist’
    • Track and analyze metrics compared to industry benchmarks, publish reports on product performance, trends and risks/opportunities for both short and long term;
    • Support teams that track and manage business case metrics and financial planning models ensuring that product delivery stays on track and on budget;
    • Monitor impact of product features on key metrics

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Computer science, Engineering or related field.
    • 6-8 years post-graduation work experience of which 3 years must be in product Management ,Sales, product development or Business development
    • Broad understanding of Payment services processes and inter-dependencies. Relevant experience working in retail banking, payments, e/m-commerce, online and mobile platforms
    • Related experience in digital payments product conceptualization, solution design/architecture and development, preferably in financial services or the bankcard industry
    • In-depth knowledge of the payments business coupled with the ability to translate customers’ needs into scalable product designs
    • Proven track record in working collaboratively across functional areas to drive results – can interact effectively with representatives from Technology, sales, marketing etc.
    • Ability to identify and drive forward new opportunity into a business or product.
    • Strong knowledge of industry best practices and competitive landscape
    • Expertise in applying product development concepts and practices across the product development life cycle
    • Team player, Structured thinker, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to create compelling presentations
    • Thorough understanding of financial modeling and forecasting
