    Business Development Manager

    Duma Works is recruiting a Business Development Manager for our client, ESTO AFRICA; a leading Real Estate Consultancy and Construction firm in Nairobi.

    Job Summary

    As the Business Development Manager, your main role will be to grow ESTO AFRICA  revenues, expand the clientele and develop a successful sales team. You will be the front of the company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales strategy. You will be the one to ensure smooth running of operations to maximize sales and minimize costs.

    Responsibilities

    • Deliver and exceed the set sales targets for the department by building a strong preforming team.
    • Participate in the corporate periodic strategy and business planning workshops. This preparation includes lessons learned, expected financial returns, previous planning period performance (actual vs planned) assessment, market assessment, external environmentassessment, competitiveness and positioning assessment, shortlisted new ideas, emerging trends and future projections in the real estate markets.
    • Develop budget for the department and seek approval from the Management as per the organizations processes.
    • Responsible for the identification of new business opportunities through alliances, Joint Ventures, acquisitions, mergers, etc, for the best of Property Sale Corporate Division.
    • Present new opportunities for property sales and management to the CEO for review and approval.
    • Conducting market research to collect data and draw inferences to arrive at decision points, considering the overall strategic direction of the Sales Department.
    • Assisting in the structuring of sales of property in the most effective manner possible.
    • Preparing detailed proposals for new businesses/ ventures including development of feasibility studies using third parties, where deemed necessary. Submit proposals to the CEO for review and approval.
    • Ensuring that newly identified opportunities are in line with risk management and diversification strategies.
    • Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality during the whole cycle of the business transaction.
    • Make sales for the company properties as required and projected.
    • Holding regular discussions with stakeholders to obtain buy-in of new business cases.
    • Conducting due diligence on potential partners and recommending the same to the Management for review and approval.
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports/briefs on strategic initiatives and opportunities.
    • Lead and guide relationship managers and sales agents by providing them with technical guidance, training and the required growth opportunities to ensure that they are developed for higher level roles.
    • Set targets for  sales Excutives,achievable weekly, monthly and quarterly

    Duma Works is recruiting a Field Sales Executive in Nairobi for Acacia Innovations Ltd.

    Company Overview:

    Acacia Innovations Ltd. is a start-up which provides environmentally friendly and cost-saving cooking and fuel solutions.

    They are seeking a full-time, high-level, field-based sales executive to bring in orders from schools, hotels and restaurants for Kuni Safi briquettes, a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to firewood made from sugarcane waste, as well as institutional energy saving cookstoves. Kuni Safi is nearly smokeless and lasts for up to 4 hours. It is twice as efficient as firewood, thereby helping customers save an average of 35% on their cost of cooking fuel. Kuni Safi cookstoves are an affordable solution to allow restaurants, hotels and small schools to adopt Kuni Safi briquettes or save energy while cooking with other forms of biomass. Acacia Innovations has supplied over 150 schools, hotels, and restaurants with Kuni Safi to date.

    Location: Field-based sales in Machakos/Kitengela/Athi River.

    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a mature, sophisticated, and experienced sales executive to grow their sales of Kuni Safi briquettes. This position is well suited to someone with extensive institutional sales experience and a professional network. Sales executives will work mostly in the field, with office work limited to customer phone calls and reporting.

    The ideal candidate should have a strong track record of meeting sales targets and be highly motivated, target-driven, and a persuasive negotiator and confident in speaking with high-level decision makers such as school principals and hotel owners.

    Responsibilities

    • Generate leads and cold-call leads provided by company; educate potential customers about Kuni Safi.
    • Identify schools, restaurants, hotels, and hospitals with large consumption of firewood or
      charcoal.
    • Contact potential institutional customers by phone, email, or visit.
    • Perform simple demonstrations of Kuni Safi briquettes (with assistance from Kuni Safi staff).
    • Actively solicit orders with a starting target of 15+ tonnes (5-15 institutional customers) and 10+
      institutional cookstoves per month.
    • Negotiate purchase orders according to pricing requirements.
    • Ensure that all institutional customers understand the terms of the agreement and payment
      expectations.
    • Secure orders and communicate all orders received to the company.
    • Assist in the collection of payment as necessary.
    • Maintain thorough communication with Acacia Innovations staff and potential customers.
    • Track all potential customers and closed deals on the templates provided by Acacia Innovations.
    • Respond in a timely manner to all phone calls within 12 hours and emails within 24 hours.
    • Contribute to sales strategy and develop new sales channels.
    • Recommend improvements to the sales strategy and process to the CEO.
    • Recommend and develop potential partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, and
      complimentary businesses to grow sales.
    • Exercise creativity in the sales process to improve your conversion rate.

    Requirements

    • Strong track record in field-based sales- demonstrable results of meeting 80-100% of sales goals per
      month, as confirmed by your references
    • 2-5+ years of experience selling to large institutions, ideally schools and/or hotels
    • Existing professional network of school/restaurant/hotel owners and administrators
    • Excellent at sales mathematics and comfortable discussing pricing and cost savings
    • Highly confident and presentable in dealing with school administrators and business owners
    • Strong and persuasive negotiator
    • Able to work independently; very motivated
    • Target-driven; able to realistically set and meet goals
    • Excited to work for a start-up and contribute to building a new sales strategy
    • Excellent and professional verbal and written communication abilities
    • Competent at basic computer and internet programs including Google Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Interest in improving people’s lives and our environment
    • Fluent in English and Kiswahili
    • Valid driver’s license

    Finance Assistant

    Responsibilities

    Objective 1: Processing Payments

    Key activities & responsibilities to achieve this objective:

    • Verify the correctness and completeness of supplier invoices before payment
    • Ensure source documents are complete, authorised, authentic and arithmetically complete in accordance with the established control procedures before payment processing
    • Ensure timely disbursement of funds to projects  partners
    • Print cheques, post on straight to bank and ensure approval is done on time
    • Remitting statutory payments

    Objective 2:  Posting Expenditures

    Key activities & responsibilities to achieve this objective:

    • Verify the correctness and completeness of supplier invoices, Travel requests, contracts and orders before entering in QuickBooks
    • Enter the posts into Quickbooks under the correct budget codes
    • File all financial and accounting records in a systematic way for easy retrieval
    • Journalize travel expenses and other transactions depending on their nature

    Objective 3:  Analysis & Followup of Cash Advances (Travel Requests and Accountable Allowances)

    Key activities & responsibilities to achieve this objective:

    • Analyse personal and debtor accounts to ensure servicing of loans, timely accounting and exchange differences analysis
    • Check for compliance with travel advance policy re: staff hold only a single advance at any given time and; that before any further advance is given the previous ones are accounted for; update the Fin-Accts Coordinator regularly on compliance issues in these areas
    • Alert Finance-Administration Coordinator of any variance, ‘red flag’ expenditures or receipts, immediately

    Objective 4: Reconciliations

    Key activities & responsibilities to achieve this objective:

    • Monitor bank accounts to ensure accounts are not overdrawn and that inter-account transfer of funds is initiated promptly to cover any possible overdraws
    • Reconciling monthly field staff advance & reimbursement claim forms, and SMS or phone call follow up on issues

    • Finance-Accounts Coordinator – reports directly to
    • Finance-Admin Manager – indirectly supervised by this role
    • Kenya Country Director – regular interaction for the purpose of planning and supporting the implementation of project budgets and activities
    • Programs and field staff – contact person for routine questions from field staff about how to use accounting/admin tools and procedures, sends follow up messages to field staff on pending issues of accounting for travel advances or other field staff expenditure claims

    Requirements

    • Diploma or degree in a relevant field and/or CPA (K) qualifications
    • 1 year of professional experience in similar or relevant role
    • Advanced Microsoft Office software skills, especially Excel
    • Advanced skills in standard bookkeeping/accounting software especially QuickBooks
    • Strong communication ability both written and verbal, able to train others
    • Self motivating and able to work efficiently and effectively without constant supervision
    • Relevant experience in agricultural, development, NGO sectors
    • Exposure to large institutional donor practices and non-profit donor reporting minimum standards
