    Senior Lecturer, Sociology

    FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGY

    Grade MAC 13

    Ref:MMU/EA/01/04/2018

    Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer – Grade MAC 13 MUST be holders of the following qualifications, relevant work experience and publications as indicated below:-

    • Must have PhD in Sociology from a recognized/accredited University having studied Sociology at undergraduate and Master’s level;
    • Served in the grade of Lecturer/Research Fellow or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years or six (6) years research/industry experience;
    • A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent twenty four (24) of which should be from refereed scholarly journals.
    • Supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion;
    • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution; and
    • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

    • Lecturing specific units of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
    • Participating in review and preparation of training courses, programmes and schemes of work;
    • Assessing student’s performance and preparing students progress reports;
    • Carrying out research work in relevant field or specialization; and
    • Assisting in conducting seminars/workshops or symposia and coordinate courses.
    • Coordinating of course, project and practical work;

    • Developing proposals to attract research grants.

    Lecturer - Film Production/ Scriptwriting

    Grade MAC 12

    PhD in Supply Chain Management/ Procurement and Logistics from recognized/accredited university;

    OR

    Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management from an accredited and recognised university with at least three (3) years teaching experience at the university level or in research / industry. The applicant must also be pursuing a PhD in Supply Chain Management.

    • Minimum three (3) years teaching experience at a University;
    • A minimum of twenty four (24) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent sixteen (16) of which should be from refereed scholarly journals

    Applicants for the position of Tutorial Fellow – Grade MAC 11 MUST be holders of the following qualifications, relevant work experience and publications as indicated below:-

    • Master of Science in Physics from an accredited and recognized University;
    • Bachelor of Science in Physics or Bachelor of Science in engineering degree from accredited and recognized university;
    • Be registerable for a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification;
    • Should demonstrate competence in teaching and research in Applied Optics and LASERS;

    Applicants for the position MUST possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • PhD degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, or equivalent from an institution recognized in Kenya.
    • At least five (5) years administrative experience, three (3) of which as Deputy Dean of Students Grade MNT14 or its equivalent.
    • Have outstanding professional competence in administration or Management.
    • Member of a recognized professional administration or management body
    • Computer Literacy

    OR

    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation for the supervision and management of all administrative and operational functions as hereunder:

    • Coordinate of the formulation and implementation of policies for the Department
    • Coordinate and preparation of annual departmental budgets and procurement plans.
    • Coordinate and preparation of annual work plans.
    • Coordinate the Department staff performance appraisal
    • Enforce discipline and rules that govern students on a daily basis.

    Senior Supply Chain Management Officer I

    • Have Masters degree in any of the following disciplines:- Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Business Administration (Purchasing and Supplies) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Have Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:- Procurement and Supply Chain Management; Purchasing and Supplies Management; Supply Chain Management; Procurement and Contract Management; Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Procurement and Logistics Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Have served in the grade of Senior Supply Chain Management officer II for a minimum period of three (3) years;
    • Have Certificate in Strategic leadership programme/governance Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Be a member of the Institute of Purchasing and Supplies or any other recognized professional body;
    • Have Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
    • Have demonstrated outstanding professional competence in supply chain management.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

    • Providing input in the development, reviewing and implementation of Procurement policies, strategies, regulations and procedures;
    • Coordinating purchasing, and control of materials;
    • Developing the Procurement manual and templates;
    • Ensuring internal auditing and evaluation of supply chain management processes and procedures are undertaken;
    • Coordinating the identification of unserviceable, obsolete and surplus stores and equipment for disposal;
    • Carrying out negotiation in major contracts;
    • Ensuring effective use of e-Procurement system;
    • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards relating to Procurement of goods, services and works;
    • Consolidating Procurement budgets and plans;
    • Ensuring safe custody of procured goods;
    • Coordinating preparation and maintenance of assets register, transfer and valuation;
    • Ensuring periodic stock taking and stock audit is conducted; and
    • Supervising and developing staff.
