    Research Assistant

    Job Summary

    The purpose of this job is to coordinate implementation science activities, including research, outreach engagement, support to interns, Community Health Volunteers, community support groups and other activities related to coordination at field operations level.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for oversight of defined operations including recruitment of participants, ensuring that protocol requirements are met and ensuring compliance to regulatory and policy requirements.
    • Collecting and collating data from identified sources and coordination of feedback to participants and other stake holders,
    • Verifies accuracy of study forms and study forms per protocol Performs quality assurance and quality control data checks and data analysis
    • Track all the details of the work of each implementing team members in the community support groups and ensure that timelines are met and be is responsible for record-keeping.
    • Synthesizes and interprets information obtained from the identified sources and draft statistical and graphic summaries of findings and conclusions.

    Contributions

    Collect and organize data including assists with interviews Maintain study codes and formal audits of data Maintain research data, regulatory binders and study databases Collaborate with supervisor in writing and editing material for reports.

    Expertise requirements

    • Ability to work independently and at times with moderate supervision
    • High degree of computer literacy and analytical skills
    • Working knowledge of data management program
    • Ability to interpret acceptability of data results
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to attend to a high level of detail and multiple tasks on a day-to-day basis.
    • Ability to work in team environment, requiring participatory decision-making.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition with minimum of 1-3 years related experience
    • Experience in maternal nutrition service delivery for a specific intervention or strategy.
    • Experience with social and community mobilization.
    • Experience working with Focus Counties and well developed cultural competence
    • Two years of experience in implementation of community engagement activities and project management experience.
    • Must be able to travel to locations in the serviced by public transportation.

    Technical Assistant - Monitoring & Evaluation

    The M&E Assistant will provide support to Program M&E activities across the five focus counties. S/he will be responsible for facilitating data reviews and analysis of data from the implementation research activities to strengthen efficiency and accountability. S/he will work closely with project team to support capacity building initiatives and facilitate documentation.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    • Monitoring of activities based on indicators and targets set out in the PMP;
    • Support implementation of monitoring tools, which will include, but not be limited to, data collection, management, analysis and reporting on program indicators;
    • Perform rigorous data cleaning and field-level error reconciliations (Data Quality checks), jointly with the project team to ensure that the data sitting in the program data base is of integrity;
    • Carry out both qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
    • Perform data quality checks on regular schedule, share with program staff and document findings;
    • Ensure timely and complete reporting from field implemented activities in accordance with approved reporting formats;
    • Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and management system;
    • Participate in special studies or assessments; Participate in development of periodic reports;
    • Perform other task related assignments proposed by his/her supervisor/s.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Strong research skills- data collection/fieldwork supervision/data management
    • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word processing, Database management, SPSS, STATA or other statistical packages
    • Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis in nutrition and health sector
    • Have good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in diverse, cross-cultural teams in a complex, multi-site work environment.

    Minimum Requirements

    • University degree in Statistics, Computer Science, M&E, Public health or any other related course
    • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in implementation of monitoring, evaluation and research.
    • Possess excellent attention to detail, highly organized, rigorous, self-motivated, strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently and readiness to learn.
    • Good strategic and analytical thinking and ability to interpret public health and epidemiological data
