    Counselor

    JOB GROUP ‘H’

    Responsibilities

    • An officer at this level will be a member of a health team addressing the psychosocial effects as related to patients’ diagnosis, prognosis and future resettlement;
    • Counselling of patients especially in cases associated with pandemic diseases, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy;
    • Prepare periodic reports; and
    • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Mental health or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Other requirements as per Scheme of Service for Medical Social Worker;
    • Registered with relevant professional body.

    Oral Health Officer

    JOB GROUP ‘H’

    Responsibilities

    • Visiting households to determine health situations and dialogue with household members; Sensitizing communities on prevention, promotion and rehabilitation;
    • Identifying and managing common ailments and minor injuries at community level using lay guidelines;
    • Collecting, managing and updating health data at household level for analysis;
    • Distribution, dissemination of information Education Communication materials, mosquito nets, and other commodities to households;
    • Growth monitoring and undertaking deworming of children under 5 years;
    • Managing community resource centers and convening and conducting monthly community meetings and action days;
    • Identifying defaulters of health interventions and other health cases and referring them to health facilities;
    • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • Be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Holds a Diploma in Community Oral Health or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Must have good inter-personal and communication skills;

    Dental Officer

    Job Group ‘M’

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) Degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
    • Successfully completed one year internship from a recognized institution;
    • Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board; and
    • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

    Responsibilities

    • Providing dental care, including diagnosing common oral conditions, treating, prescribing and referring;
    • Carrying out minor oral and maxillofacial surgery;
    • Prosthetics, and conservative dentistry;
    • Facilitating admission, disease investigations of patients, report writing and assisting in theatre activities;
    • Collecting information on dental health information system;

    Medical Officer

    Requirements

    • Must be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B;CH.B.) from a recognized institution, recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
    • Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution;
    • Registered with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;

    Plaster Technician

    Job Group “G”

    Responsibilities

    The Officer will have a variety of duties and responsibilities of a limited scope and complexity under the guidance and supervision of a more senior officer.

    These duties include:-

    • Application and removal of plaster and traction;
    • Recording of procedure carried out on patients;
    • Counselling patients;
    • Ordering plaster and other supplies;
    • Assisting in planning and organizing orthopaedic care;
    • Conduct evaluation and assessment of clients to determine their needs;
    • Assist and advice in the pre-surgical planning and post- surgical management of patients requiring orthotic or prosthetic services;
    • Measure patients to design and apply plaster casts on conservative reduction of fractures and dislocation;
    • Apply, adjust and remove Plaster of Paris Casts;
    • Repair or service patient devices;
    • Conduct regular evaluation of clients to assess progress and response to therapy and revise treatment programme where necessary to achieve goals;
    • Educate clients and their families about what to expect during treatment and rehabilitation and how best to cope with the situation
    • Ensure accurate client record documentation ;
    • Participate in the development of departmental work plan and budget based on the hospital strategic plan;
    • Individual annual work plan based on department work plan;
    • Ensure availability and safe custody of orthopaedic materials and equipment;
    • Ensure equipment is maintained in serviceable condition at all times;
    • Ensure application of approved standards for Orthopaedic Technology services

    Requirements

    For appointment to this grade one must have:-

    • Plaster Technician’s certificate from the Kenya Medical Training College or other approved equivalent qualification;
    • Be a registered and active member of relevant regulatory body; and
    • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

    Radiographer

    Job Group ‘H’

    Requirements 

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-

    • Have a Diploma in any of the following: Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences, Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Digital Medical imaging equipment or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;
    • Be a registered and active member of relevant regulatory body; and
    • Be in possession of a certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.

    Responsibilities

    An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced officer. Specific duties will include:

    • Providing radiographic services to the patients;
    • processing, verifying and maintaining information relating to patients;
    • Ordering and maintaining records of radiographic and photographic supplies.
    • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.

    Responsibilities

    • Identifying environmental health issues at community level;

    Assistant Public Health Officer

    Job Group ‘H’

    Requirements

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

    • Diploma in Environmental Health Science or Public Health Technology from a recognized institution;
    • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution;
    • Be a registered and active member of relevant regulatory body.

    Responsibilities

    An officer at this level will provide Environmental Health Extension services in the area of deployment, where specific duties and responsibilities will include:

    • Mobilizing, sensitizing and advising communities on matters related to environmental health;
    • Referring health cases to relevant health facilities;
    • Carrying out immunization;
    • Identifying environmental health issues at Household level;
    • Organizing community health days to advise communities on common public health issues;

    • Assessing health needs of the community; and

    Community Health Officer

    Job Group ‘G’

    Requirements

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education;
    • Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Community Health, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or Community Development from a recognized institution; and
    • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.

    Responsibilities

    Clinical Officer

    JOB GROUP ‘H’

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out history taking, examination, diagnosing, treating and managing diseases and conditions in an out-patient and in-patient Health facility;

    Physiotherapist

    JOB GROUP ‘H’

    Responsibilities

    • Providing physiotherapy services to patients in an out-patient unit/ ward/health institution;
    • Assessing patients’ needs including rehabilitation;
    • Colleting, verifying and maintaining information related to patients;
    • Screening, assessing and providing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy as per the patients/clients formulated treatment plan;
    • Sensitizing the community on physiotherapy services;
    • Preparing periodic reports; and

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in physiotherapy from a recognized institution;
