  • Pursuant to Article 235(1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and Section 59(1) (b) of the County Governments Act, 2012, the County Public Service Board of Busia would like to employ interested and qualified Persons to fill the following Positions in the Office of Governor.

    Road Inspectors

     

    Job Details

    • A diploma in civil engineering from a recognized institution; and
    • Must have a KCSE mean grade minimum C plain with KCSE C- in both Mathematics and Physics.
    • Must be computer literate.

    Responsibilities

     In charge of road construction site;

    • Supervision and control of road works in the officer’s area of jurisdiction.
    • Assisting in the selection and location of suitable materials for road works.
    • Preparation and maintenance of master rolls, pay sheets, store ledger tools plant ledgers, log sheets and tickets, daily activity cards and any other records
    • Preparation of work plans and progress reports.

    • Business education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)in the following subjects:
      • Typewriting III (50 w.p.m) /Computerized Documents Processing III;
      • Business English III/Communication I;
      • Office practice I;
      • Commerce II
      • Secretarial Duties II
      • Office management III or Office administration Management III

    OR

    • Craft Certificate in secretarial studies from KNEC
    • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution and Shown merit

    Responsibilities

    • Taking oral dictation; word and data processing;
    • Managing e-office;
    • Ensuring security of office records, documents and equipment;
    • Maintaining an up to date filling system in the office; operating office equipment:
    • Managing office protocol;
    • Managing office petty cash; handling telephone calls and appointments;
    • Supervising office cleanliness and
    • Undertaking any other office administrative services duties that may be assigned.

    Driver

     

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement (s) for class (es) of vehicle (s) an officer is required to drive
    • Passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;
    • Attended a First-Aid certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution
    • Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department
    • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
    • At least two (2) years driving experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;
    • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicles cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc.;
    • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
    • Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned;
    • Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road; safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

    Livestock Production Officer I

     

    Job Details

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Range Management, Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, Dairy Technology, or Agricultural Education and Extension from a recognized Institution; and
    • certificate in computer applications.

    Responsibilities

    • Preparing livestock technical information;
    • Providing technical advice in animal production, livestock marketing, range management, apiculture, and ranching;
    • Promoting economic livestock farming; participating in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits; Participating in collaborative research activities;
    • Collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis;
    • Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of Livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis on farm feed formulation; implementing livestock production programmes/projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, mating programmes, fodder production and conservation, value addition to livestock products, apiculture, emerging Livestock Programmes and other animal husbandry practices; and Capturing, maintaining and storing livestock data.
