    Officer - Tax Dispute Resolution

    Job Description

    Current Job Grade: Officer- TDR KRA 3

    Department: Legal Services & Board Coordination - Tax Dispute Resolution Division

    Supervisees -

    Job Summary

    Responsible for conducting pre-evaluation of all objections, preparing reports and information packs for the Independent Review Teams.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collect and collate data on Tax and/or Custom Disputes
    • Maintain database/ record keeping of all Tax and/or Custom Disputes;
    • Prepare minutes’/progress reports of deliberations during Independent Review meetings;
    • Conducting research on tax and/or customs objections cases
    • Assist in the administration, monitoring and compliance function of the division;

    Minimum Requirements

    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in BCom, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Law or related disciplines from a recognised university
    • Professional qualification in a relevant field LSK,CPA(K),CPS,CIBA,CFE will be an added advantage

    Related Job Experience

    • Must have served as an officer or its equivalent grades for at least one (1) year;
    • Must be knowledgeable and have experience in tax and/or customs administration
    • Exposure to tax and/or customs disputes management and resolution

    Competencies Required

    • Demonstrated professional ability and strong organizational ability;
    • Good analytical skills, and ability to make evaluative judgements;
    • Ability to function independently and on own initiative;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills;
    • Good team player of high integrity;
    • Proficiency in Basic Computer packages.

    Job Summary

    Support the operations of Tax Dispute Resolution (TDR) Initiatives and other activities in the Division.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Participate in the implementation of Dispute Resolution Management initiatives
    • Conducting research on tax and customs objections cases
    • Review of objections and preparing policy briefs
    • Prepare strategic and operational reports
    • Maintain updated reports and database for disputes handled
    • Monitoring of general performance for the Division;

    Minimum Requirements

    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in BCom, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Law or related disciplines from a recognised university

    • Good analytical skills, and ability to make evaluative judgement
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills;
