    Site Manager- Quarry Operations

    The overall job responsibility is to oversee all operations, both on site and in the office, coordinate production and monitor all site systems.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Operations

    • Spearhead production targets formulation and reviews.
    • Ensure optimum and efficient production towards set targets in the daily quarry deliverables
    • Plan for acquisition, engagement and release of casuals pegged on need.
    • Oversee and authorize site expenses..
    • Approve requisitions for purchases and payment vouchers
    • Cost effectively and safely maintain the company assets for maximum return on investment.
    • Meet requirements within the approved budget with respect to cost, quality and time.
    • Manage performance of the quarry including effective use of KPI’s.
    • Implement safe working rules and practices and ensure regulatory and statutory authority compliance.
    • Manage all quarry teams and individual performance through effective performance management system.

    Risk Management

    • Undertake regular site inspections and risk assessments in liaison with HSE Supervisor
    • Implement control measures and ensure compliance to minimize risks.
    • Ensure all persons working within the site wear PPEs.
    • Ensuring that key health and safety measures are implemented throughout the site.

    Oversee Repairs and Maintenance

    • Plan and Supervise occasional machinery and equipment maintenance.
    • Oversee all reported repair cases to ensure speedy action.
    • Coordinate and schedule for major repairs and maintenance of machinery and equipment.

    Supervision

    • Oversee and verify physical and system stock levels from time to time.
    • Plan and oversee monthly stock take exercises.
    • Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to
    • Disseminate information and act as a bridge between the top management, staff and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure team members submit reports as required
    • Monitor attendance and ensure staffs observe stipulated working hours

    Skills and Qualifications

    • A Diploma/undergraduate in Engineering/Heavy plant machinery
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Managerial/Supervisory position in quarry/mine set up
    • Basic level of technical understanding of quarrying, plant and machinery operations.
    • Ethically strong, a team player, mathematical acumen, analytical and knowledgeable in accounting system/ERP.
    • Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills.
    • Good business and people management skills.
    • Capacity to think strategically, make informed decisions and solve problems.
    • Ability to occasionally tolerate noisy and dusty working environment.
    • Proficiency in Computer Applications

    Project Consultant- Quarry Operations

    The overall job responsibility is to oversee in the initial project set up and implementation and generally assist in the project kick off.

    Scope of Work

    • Spearhead the critical equipment procurement process
    • Design the site layout
    • Supervise site preparation on required scope of civil, mechanical, electrical and loading platform and Critical Equipment Installations.
    • Review Contract deliverables and map the same on a Project plan
    • Develop Project execution Plans
    • Optimize on initial production for both personnel and machine
    • Consultancy services during the life of the project on a need basis

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Mininmum Eduacation of an undergraduate in Engineering/Geology or related field
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior Consultancy/Senior Management position in a mining set up
    • Basic level of technical understanding of quarrying, plant and machinery operations.
    • Ethically strong, a team player, mathematical acumen, analytical and knowledgeable in accounting system/ERP.
    • Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills.

    Drill Rig Operator

    To be able to execute its contractual obligations effectively, OML is seeking to recruit and employ on renewable contract for the following positions for an upcoming mining project.

    DRILL RIG OPERATOR

    The primary responsibility is to ensure the drilling operations are carried out as per the drilling parameters

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Receive instructions for drilling parameters (weight on bit, rotary table rpm, pressures and pump outputs) as well as other work procedures (type and expected life of bit, mud characteristics, bore control etc.), and ensure their correct application.
    • Whenever deemed necessary, within the specified limits, change the drilling parameters to improve the drilling progress; 
    • Check and set up the equipment necessary for the assigned shift, i.e. drill pipes and other tubular material etc
    • Operate the draw work during drilling activities and complex manoeuvres; 
    • Assist rig down/rig up operations by coordinating and controlling; 
    • Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment related paperwork are carried out within his area of responsibility.
    • Fill up a daily drilling report for the activities performed during his/her shift describing the work carried out and the equipment utilized; 
    • Update the pipe tally book and draft dimensioned drawings of the equipment run in the well; 
    • Ensure that all orders and instructions received verbally or in writing are fully understood and adhered to; 
    • Ensure safety standards are adhered to in all his/her work and use compulsory protective equipment; 
    • Be familiar with all relevant work and safety procedures issued by Company and Operator; 
    • Apply and ensure the correct application of prescribed safety standards and regulations, and take part in emergency drills and safety meetings; 
    • Issue Safe Job Analysis before start-up of non-routine operation or job and ensure completion of risk assessments where required; 
    • Instruct all personnel assigned to him for assistance of their duties and responsibilities and of any special safety precaution to be taken prior to start-up of any work; 
    • Carry out BOP and pit level drill etc. in accordance with regulations laid down by Government Authorities or Operating Company; 
    • Promptly report all accidents, near-miss accidents and non-conformance through the proper channels; 
    • Intervene promptly and opportunely in emergencies, at the same time notifying the superior in charge; 
    • Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained on the drill floor;

    Required skills & Qualifications:

    • At least 3-5 years’ experience on land drilling Rigs. Of these years, minimum 3 years must be as a Driller on Land
    • The individual has Safety, Communication & supervisory skills. 
    • Other drilling related certificates 
    • Top drive experience 
    • Fluent in English and Swahili language.

    Mechanic

    To be able to execute its contractual obligations effectively, OML is seeking to recruit and employ on renewable contract for the following positions for an upcoming mining project.

    The primary responsibility is to service and do repairs on the plant machinery and both the light and heavy Goods vehicles

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • In charge of service and repairing of the plant machinery and both the HGV and LGV’s
    • Inspects and services convoy vehicles, trucks, and other equipment
    • Changes and repairs tyre and respond to road service calls
    • Assists in ordering and obtaining necessary parts and supplies
    • Keeps track of the service parts and the spare parts and is held accountable for all. Is also in charge of ensuring the re-order levels are maintained such that no parts are missing at site when required.
    • Provides assistance to other crews during the rig moves as and when needed (troubleshooting of machinery)
    • Assists with loading and unloading of vehicles at the workshop
    • Responds to emergencies as requested
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
    • Responsible for own and other employee’s health and safety at the workplace
    • Maintain the Truck checking book and report the details of all inspections, maintenance, and other work done on the truck while in the field.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Diploma in mechanical engineering.
    • Certification in computer packages i.e. Ms Word, excel, power point.
    • valid driver’s license
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in repairs and maintenance of personal vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, forklifts and cranes.
    • Familiar with ISO standards of safety, as well as OGP lifesaving rules.
    • Good working knowledge in operation and maintenance of pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics and power transmission systems
