    Deputy Guard Force Commander (DGFC)

    The Deputy Guard Force Commander(s) (DGFC) shall have completed a secondary education, poly technical school, National Diploma, or Associate degree with 5 years supervisory experience with a U.S. Embassy contract or similar type of work. A minimum of 5 years of police, similar military, or local guard force supervisory experience is required. DGFC(s) shall be computer literate to a basic level, that is, able to write basic reports, Standard Operational Procedures, and email. Advanced security training and experience with risk management including problem identification and problem solving required.

     

    The DGFC(s) shall be required have the following qualifications and to perform supervisory duties that include:

     

    • English Language S4/R4 proficiency;
    • Be fluent in the local language;
    • Be a citizen of Kenya, or the United States, or be in possession of a valid Kenya work visa
    • Supervising the guard force that provides protection to all U.S. mission facilities;
    • Preparing guard orders, deployment of guards and weekly scheduling;
    • Conduct muster;
    • Manage and provide oversight for the Residential Guard Force;
    • Conducting regular inspections of guards and guard posts;
    • Investigating irregularities, maintain inventory reports;
    • Preparing reports and making recommendations regarding discipline and termination actions;
    • Overseeing the refresher training program to ensure compliance and effectiveness;
    • Overseeing guard program logistics including, e.g., explosive detection and x-ray equipment;
    • Acting as a point of contact with the RSO/LGF Coordinator on operational guard force matters;
    • Ensure all guards are properly uniformed, equipped, and staffed;
    • Possess a current in-country driver’s license;
    • Brief the LGF Coordinator on al operational matters on a daily basis; and,
    • Plan, coordinate, and lead LGF during integrated training and emergency response drills with the RSO and Marine Security Guard Detachment (if applicable).
