Structural Engineer Job Key Responsibilities

• Estimate costs, prepare specifications for materials and carry out surveying and drafting
• Prepare working drawings, plans and designs for construction work
• Produce designs, detailed drawings and documentation
• Help with programming work and checking materials
• Maintain close contact with construction workers and project managers
• Check that finished works are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
• Inspect civil works, organize and supervise maintenance and repair work

Qualifications for the Structural Engineer Job

• A degree in Civil Engineering
• At least 5 – 7 years work experience in road construction
• Should be registered with the Engineers Registration Board
• Sound supervisory experience on a road construction site
• Experience in road maintenance
• Aptitude for computing and design
• Practical and creative
• Able to accept responsibility, work independently and also as part of a team
• Willing to contribute and adhere to the safety requirements of the operation
• Able to identify, analyze and solve technical problems
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Capable of accurate, detailed work
