    Procurement Officer

    Job Description

    Duties at this level will include: examining of the established stores units at Faculty/departmental level to determine; the quantities of supplies held and their numerical relationship to bin cards, stock ledgers, computer print-out of stock levels and maximum and minimum stock levels; apparent conditions of the supplies held; operating procedures and documents in use and their conformity with the prescribed regulations. The stores catalogue, its contents and maintenance, specifically, work at this level will involve advising schools and user departments of any irregularities in supplies procurement and management found and the required remedial action; supervision of supplies and stores staff and any other responsibilities that may be assigned to him from time to time.

    Job Specification for Direct appointment
    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:


    (i) A Bachelors Degree in the following disciplines; Business Administration, Economics, Commerce (Supplies Management option) or its equivalent from a recognized University;
    (ii) Attended management course(s) lasting for reasonable period(s); and
    (iii) Eight (8) years’ work experience.
     (iv) Must be a registered member of Kenya Institute of Supplies
    Management.
    (v) A CIPS qualification
    (vi) A masters degree will be an added advantage.

    Job Specification for Serving
    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:


    i) Served in the grade of Senior Assistant Procurement Officer ;
    ii) Has shown ability, initiative and merit in managing University Purchasing and Supplies Functions;
    iii) A degree in Economics, commerce business administrative or its equivalent from a recognized university.
    iv) Shown ability, Initiative and merit in managing University Purchasing and Supplies function.
    v) Must be registered Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
    vi) A CIPS qualification.
    vii) A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
