The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) was established by the Government of Kenya on the 14th of January 2013 under an Act of Parliament-Act No.4 of 2013, to provide research based curricula and curriculum support materials responsive to the needs of the society.
The Senior Deputy Director, Curriculum and Research Services will report to the Director/Chief Executive Officer
a) Duties and Responsibilities
1. Formulate, implement and review effective plans, objectives and strategies related to curriculum and research including mobilization of resources;
2. Co-ordinate research and direct development of relevant and quality curriculum and curriculum support materials;
3. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure standards in curricula offered in learning institutions;
4. Ensure effective orientation of curriculum implementers; and
5. Coordinate, monitor and review curriculum on a continuous basis.
b) Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to the grade an applicant must have:
(i) A Masters Degree in Education with specialization in curriculum studies and bresearch or related field, with relevant working experience at supervisory level in the area of curriculum development and research for at least 10 years;
(ii) Knowledge in national and international trends in curriculum development and research;
(iii) Attended the Strategic Leadership Development Programme at Kenya School of Government; and
(iv)Proficiency in computer use and application.
Applicants interested in any of the above positions are expected to fulfill the requirements of chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya.
Specifically, they must obtain and submit with their application, copies of the following:
1. Tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
2. Clearance certificate from Higher Education loans Board (HELB);
3. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC);
4. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal investigation; and
5. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau.
