    Principal Corporate Communication Officer

    GRADE E5 - REF: HR/4/2017

    An officer at this level will be responsible to the Chief Corporate Communications Manager for effective co-ordination and supervision of Communication work.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties at this level will include but not limited to:

    1. Implementing communications policies and strategies;
    2. Monitoring public perception about NEMA;
    3. Preparing daily briefs on media coverage given to NEMA and other environmental issues;
    4. Drafting of rejoinders and press releases;
    5. Identifying media programmes, columns and publications suitable for the dissemination of environment news;
    6. Preparing publicity materials and speech management;
    7. Managing linkages with other stakeholders and coordination of protocol functions and other events of the Authority;
    8. Assisting in the development of work plans and budgets;
    9. Supervising, training and mentoring staff working under him/her

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

    1. A Bachelors degree in either of the following fields; Social Sciences, Public Relations, Corporate Communications or a related field from a recognized institution;
    2. Masters degree in either Public Relations, Communication or journalism or a related field from a recognized institution;
    3. Five (5) years working experience in Corporate Communications or Public Relations Field;
    4. Demonstrated ability in management and handling of communication function required at this level;
    5. Member of a professional body
    6. Must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

    All the above positions are on permanent and pensionable terms of service except Director, Environmental Services which will be on a three years renewable contract.
