    Principal Graphic Designer

    GRADE E5-RE-ADVERTISEMENT REF: HR/3/2017

    An officer at this level will be responsible to the Deputy Director Environmental Education, Awareness and Public Participation for effective co-ordination and supervision of design work.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties at this level will include but not limited to:

    1. Photographic work, plate making, art work, printing and model making;
    2. Creating new ideas and concepts and developing interactive designs;
    3. Using innovation to redefine a design brief with the constraints of cost and time;
    4. Working with a range of media, including computer-aided design (CAD) and keeping up to date with emerging technologies;
    5. Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print;
    6. Commissioning illustrators and photographers;
    7. Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, account executives, web developers and marketing specialists.
    8. Advising on color schemes for any design works affecting buildings, interior and exterior designing and landscaping;
    9. Job scheduling and programming, estimating, costing and requisitioning for design materials required; and
    10. Supervising, training and appraising staff in the section

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this position a candidate must have;

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Graphics Design/ Fine Arts from a recognized institution.
    2. Masters Degree in Graphics Design/ Fine Arts from a recognized institution.
    3. Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing software’s, fine art, graphic design; illustration; photography; visual art.
    4. Exceptional creativity and innovation.
    5. Training in management or administration will be an added advantage.
    6. Meets the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
    1. Nine (9) years relevant experience in graphic design

    All the above positions are on permanent and pensionable terms of service except Director, Environmental Services which will be on a three years renewable contract.
