    Senior Training Coordination Officer-Dadaab

    Job Purpose

    The Senior Training Coordination Officer is a key program staff who work closely with partners and beneficiaries to identify and develop training programs, support assessment of skill development needs, provides input into training material and approaches, monitors training for effectiveness targeting refugee and hosting populations, and support development of approaches and strategies for employment. S/he will work under the direct administrative supervision of the Senior Field Coordinator and technical supervision of Health, RH/CHP and Nutrition Technical coordinators, and work closely with the IRC Somalia team and Economic Recovery and Development unit.

    Job Duties

      • Coordinate identification and assessment of potential partnerships and material for short-term skill acquisition in health related fields that will provide refugees and host community members’ additional skills that will lead to further employment.
      • Ensure delivery of training programmes that include class based sessions, web-based seminars, printed manuals, group sessions, training videos, and more.
      • Work with relevant stakeholders to determine training needs and requirements for the targeted population through meeting and /or administering surveys.
      • Reviews existing training materials produced by third parties to determine appropriateness and relevance.
      • Coordinate training schedules/ sessions, organizes information technology and other equipment, and manages course enrolment
      • Establishes and implements a monitoring framework to track progress of training beneficiaries
      • Works with technical leads and other sectors to address learning issues, instruction problems, or new educational needs
      • Coordinates with IRC Somalia teams in order to ensure coordination of approaches to build employment skills in the health sector and monitor repatriation of skilled workers for promotion of employment approaches in Somalia.
      • Manages costs for Kenya training activities and works with the Senior Field Coordinator and Grants department to ensure budget and cost compliance and tracking.
      • Prepare donor reports and contributes to overall program reporting against results frameworks, providing summaries of training approaches, results and lessons learned.
      • Keeps current on the program activities and sector needs by attending regular meetings, conferences, and seminars
      • Maintains understanding of new educational and training techniques and methods related to building health sector employment skills for refugees and vulnerable Kenyans.

    Skills And Qualifications

      • Bachelor's or Higher Diploma in health ,social science, education required
      • At least three years’ experience in capacity building or health skill acquisition programs required
      • Understanding of health sector employment needs and trends and demonstrated experience working with community health professionals required
      • Demonstrated experience in program management, monitoring training activities, and working with vulnerable populations in camp settings preferred
      • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management or similar setting
      • Strong Written and Verbal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Planning Skills, Time Management, Attention to Detail, Decision Making skills preferred.
      • Demonstrated experience in ensuring quality data collection and analysis to measure outcomes and improve approaches.

    Work Environment

    The position will be based in IRC’s office in Dadaab refugee camp and work on a daily basis on identified training sites in the camp areas and nearby. The position will involve regular travel to Nairobi.
